Before Warner Bros. interfered with the making of Justice League, they interfered with the making of Suicide Squad. After the backlash to Batman v Superman, the studio had to move quickly to change Suicide Squad, which was coming out later that summer. They reportedly brought in a movie trailer company to help edit the film, and had reshoots to lighten up the tone.
Suicide Squad director David Ayer has publicly stood by the theatrical cut of the movie, though he's admitted multiple times that he'd do things differently if he could do it all over again -- like making Jared Leto's Joker the main villain. But this weekend Ayer revealed for the first time what many fans have been assuming for years: the theatrical cut of Suicide Squad was very different from his original cut.
"Harley’s arc was vastly simplified," Ayer told a fan on Twitter. "It’s fun to play “gotcha” but remember released film was very different from original assembly."
If you could only pick one... which would you rather see? David Ayer's original cut of Suicide Squad or Zack Snyder's original cut of Justice League? Let me know in the comments below.
