on Rumor: Warner Bros. interested in 'Game of Thrones' star Kit Harington as Batman

With The Batman on track to start shooting by next summer, casting news is going to be coming in fast. We know that director Matt Reeves has been meeting with actors to play Batman, and today's rumor is very interesting.

According to Revenge of The Fans, Warner Bros. is (or was?) interested in Game of Thrones star Kit Harington as Batman. Apparently a few months ago in June, they requested digital mock-ups of what Harington would look like in the Batsuit as The Dark Knight.

Harington is 31 years old and could definitely play the younger Batman that Matt Reeves is looking for, but some fans may not be happy that he's 5' 8" tall. That's nothing some Bat-boots couldn't fix though. Michael Keaton was just an inch taller at 5' 9".

    Shit... he would really be shorter than Keaton by an Inch... when Ben Affleck was like a 6’4 dude at 200 something pounds brute force. Good actor and charisma but I can’t see him as Batman.

        I genuinely thought Ben Affleck was going to go down as best live-action Batman, but the opportunity was wasted. All that potential and we only got BvS and JL out of it

        He is not a good actor and Snyder made him do a good job, i liked him as Bruce, he seemes very comic like, but he was tired after so many years fighting crime.

    I mean i could see him as Dick Grayson but Bruce? No not really, honestly the bigger problem here is he isn't that great of a actor, sure he's ok as Jon but he's one of the weaker actors in GoT and has yet to find any success outside of it.

    I love Kit Harrington, but he's only 5'7-5'8. I could never buy him as Batman sitting next to the other superheroes who are all pretty much 6 foot and up.

    LOL at style over substance snyder bots and some other DC fans, Every time there is a news about a new Batman actor they start bitching about his height, look and penis size LOL,That's why DC sucks today so hard. Nobody cares for story, contents or how a new actor would fit in the universe as a whole group and not from a personal perspective.

      Yeah exactly, look at Robert Downey he is not tall too(he is around 5'7 or 5'8) but he is the golden star of Avengers and his Ironman films sell Billions. Unfortunately some of DC fans have some serious self esteem issues about their appearances.

    His height doesn't matter. How he has acted in the past doesn't matter (Remember: Affleck did Daredevil and Gigli). What matters is whether or not he got into the suit, got into character, and impressed Matt Reeves and those in charge of casting. I am giving whomever they pick a chance. Those of us on this side of the fence don't know what those making the film know, and we kid ourselves if we think we know better concerning every last decision. Decide you're going to give someone new a chance. Your only other choice is not to see or support the film.

      I was just listening to a podcast where Kevin Smith talked about how a bunch of fans freaked out back in the 80s when it came out that the guy from Mr. Mom was gonna play Batman, and I can only imagine the meltdowns that would cause in 2018.

        Indeed. We don't know how well a given actor is going to do until we have a movie. Period. I, for one, am excited for something new.

      On the other hand Katie Holmes impressed Nolan for Begins and she ended up giving the worst performance in the film. Sam Worthington impressed James Cameron for Avatar yet his acting is more wooden then wood. Look i get what your saying but going by the info we have we can judge Harington as he's giving enough performances to judge him on, even his best role in Jon Snow is just passable and ok and that's only in later Seasons (he was pretty bad in the early ones). As for Affleck well he's always had a mixed acting history, his own films he's great in and he was fantastic in Gone Girl so at least we had some great performances to judge him on.

        For sure, whomever they cast could end up being a mistake. They could also end up being a smash under Reeves's directing. We don't know. We will know when there is a movie. Which is why I say outside of their casting Adam Sandler as Batman, let's take it easy and remain open.

        oh we don't like Katie Holmes in Begins? I liked Katie Holmes in Begins.... There was only one scene where I found her acting questionable personally(the one where she faces the two thugs and sees batman for the first time). I liked her more Maggie Gyllenhall personally.

          I think she's worse part about Begins honestly, ok she's not terrible but she brings nothing to the character or has any chemistry with Bale. Gyllenhaal i actually liked in TDK and she felt more like someone i could see Bale's Bruce wanting to be with, acting wise she leagues ahead of Holmes as well although i'm a fan of Gyllenhaal (both of them haha) so i am slightly biased there.

        I'm a huge supported and defender of the Nolan Trilogy, and even I agree that Katie Holmes was /awful/. Maggie wasn't all that better, but Katie was just horrendous. The worst part is, apparently Amy Adams auditioned for the role (there's a BTS interview of her talking about acting opposite Bale in her audition and how impressed she was).

      i dont see how his size doesn't matter. The guy is like 5'8. Thats WAY too short for batman. This guy is supposed to be intimidating. How can he be a frightening monster if he is shorter than most of thugs he fights?

          ya people say they made Bane look bigger in TDKR with camera trickery but I don't personally buy it. Bane is supposed to be HUGE. But if you look at a certain BTS photo, with his ears, he was shorter than Batman.

          I just worry going from Affleck's 6'4 to a 5'8 is going to feel like a serious downgrade. Affleck's batman was the first batman that actually felt scary to me and I could buy that people would be intimidating by this guy. But thats just my opinion.

            I have loved Affleck's Batman, and trust me, I feel you on wondering if we will ever get another Batman as intimidating as he was. I suppose my faith comes from Reeves's ability to make apes intimidating. Surely, he can bring that same magic to his Batman movie, even if the actor is 5'8".

    Typical Warner Bros... Literally only going for harrington because he is the current main star of game of thrones and they think it will be a big win. Every film he has been in outside game of thrones has bombed. DC is forever doomed under Warner Bros!

    Joaquin Phoenix should have been cast as batman.

    Don’t get the whole need for a 7 foot hulking Batman. I’d rather go for a talented actor who is prepared to hit the gym, height isn’t a huge issue.

    Onto Kit Harrington, ideal age range but hmmm not sure. Game Of Thrones aside his work hasn’t gained much praise.
