The Batman director Matt Reeves wanted to let everyone know that he has bats on the brain!

Earlier this year, an Adam West Batman exhibit opened at The Hollywood Museum in Hollywood, California. Yesterday they had a special panel, and it appears that Reeves attended because he just shared a bunch of photos on Twitter from the Batman '66 exhibit. Check them out below.

Reeves will reportedly turn in his first draft for The Batman this month (if he hasn't already). He hopes to start shooting by the summer of next year.

Can't wait for a sick campy 60's batman noir movie by Reeves filled with shark repellants and golly's.

Schumaker tried to bring Batman 66 flavor back in his Batman movies. It didn't work out too well.

Burton’s movies also had a ton of camp. The problem was the director.

I wouldn't say that it had camp. It had Burton's humor but not camp. No bat-nipples and butts.

            They're full of camp. https://uploads.disquscdn.c... https://uploads.disquscdn.c... https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

And that's not even getting into the scene where the Joker rocks out in an art gallery to the music of Prince.

There seems to be an inherent misunderstanding of what camp is, or more specifically, people seem to have a misconception that something cannot be dark and also campy. Dark but campy pretty much describes Burton's entire body of work. Camp is not a bad word.

God she was amazing as Catwoman, i'm not a fan of her backstory in the film but once she's Catwoman she's brilliant. Its annoying how much Marvel wasted her in Ant Man and The Wasp this year.

lol they were definitely pretty campy. I mean remember the army of penguins? Those movies have not aged well in terms of what is generally acceptable for superhero movies these days. That doesn't mean it was bad though. When you view it with the understanding that superhero movies used to be made differently as well as the fact that its Tim Burton, they can still be enjoyed. They definitely aren't "bad" movies.

I would still argue they're great films, i watch them every year at least once at some point and they are both still the most comic booky Batman films out there plus Keaton is perfection in Batman mode.

I think the main problem was the studio and the toy makers. Joel Schumacher while not an all time great has put out some great work, The Lost Boys is my favorite Vampire film and a classic in its genre for instance. If i'm being honest Batman Forever is an ok film, its far from perfect but it does have its moments and it would have been darker if wasn't for WB. Schumacher did put some stupid choices into the films (the Bat Nipples for instance) but i do feel he was being controlled by higher ups and wasn't allowed to just do his thing.

Yeah. Forever is honestly one of my guilty pleasure movies.

I'm glad you shared your opinion. My stance has been that "Forever" is a misunderstood film. When I got the chance to dive into the special features on the Blu-ray and was able to see scenes that would have added weight to Val's Batman, I doubled down on that opinion. As with Zack, I would appreciate if studios trusted the directors they hire to do there jobs, for good or for bad.

I actually liked Kilmer as Bats, i think giving a darker more serious film he could have been on the level of Keaton or Bale. Forever is far from perfect but i do think its really watchable and i do think it has some good ideas, its flawed but fun unlike Batman and Robin what is just painful.

Phoenix genuinely looks scary, I think he’s going to nail the role.

I still hold out a slim hope that Jake Gyllenhaal will be the next Batman, he was my first thought when the rumours started about Ben Affleck leaving.

Somebody leaked on Reddit a few days ago that The Batman would feature Riddler, Penguin, and Catwoman. Might actually be something to it.

I would be fine with that, i would love to see a more true to comics Riddler and Penguin in film as well.

i am wondering how they would do a comic book Penguin in a way that would be acceptable to the GA. I have a hard time seeing the whole short fat guy thing being very appealing.

Wow. The 60's Batman exhibit is really cool. It is a really nice nostalgic trip back when the Batman was hitting it's peak from that era. Matt Reeves should continue with his vision for a Noir styled Batman Trilogy to keep the audiences happy.
