on 27-year-old Tom Brittney auditioned to play Alfred in 'Pennyworth' Batman prequel

With the new Batman prequel TV series Pennyworth reportedly filming in November, they will need to cast a young Alfred soon. Thanks to new audition videos that surfaced online, we may know how young Alfred will be on the show.

Geeks WorldWide spotted audition videos (that have since been removed) from 27-year-old British actor Tom Brittney. The videos revealed that Alfred must secretly infiltrate the Wayne household and abduct Thomas Wayne for an unknown villain.

Pennyworth comes from Gotham creator Bruno Heller, though it's not connected to that show. It was picked up by the cable channel Epix and will likely premiere in 2019 or 2020 if production really does begin later this year.

It's not weird if you don't think about it. People thought Gotham was a weird concept, but now it's beloved (by those who stuck with it) and people are upset it's ending.

You know there was an Aquaman test screening and reactions are circulating?

It is, apparently, on par with Thor 2.

Yeah, I shared what I heard from a screening that took place in February: https://batman-news.com/201...
I haven't talked to anyone who went to the most recent screening, but I may do an article on it later.

But since the standards for DC movies are so damn low now, people will think it is great just because it won't be utter garbage

Well, I'd rather watch Thor 2 again than any DCEU movie released so far so I guess it's a step up. LOL the bar is so low for DC right now. I still can't believe they got to this point

If it is on par with Thor 2, then it's pretty bad for DC, as Thor 2 is one of the weakest MCU films. Of course, Marvel can afford one or two "not-so-good" flicks due to the strength of their brabd, but another flop for DC would be fatal at this point.

Maybe it would push them toward a hard reboot, which would be amazing :)

Chris, I think the headline should be more about the plot info that got revealed than about the guy auditioning, Cause really, who is this guy?
    Just a thought. Cheers

The lines read in audition videos aren't always part of the actual script though. The more concrete info was the age of actors that were auditioning. I didn't realize Alfred was going to be so young.

Lets play a game, Batman-News community!
Sound off with your dumbest pitch for a DC show about a DC hero without the hero in it.

"A Flying Graysons show about Dick's parents meeting, having struggles to pay rent, then joining Haley's Circus because they owe money to their alcoholic landlord Harry Dent"

    Have a great week, ya'll

Yeah, it's really sadly plausible. I mean, ffs, they made a show about Superman's grandfather.

I actually really like Krypton, despite what it is they somehow made it work and had logical reasons for why someone like Zod is there.

Gotham Garbage Collectors - This specialty trained crew is responsible for cleaning up the city while the population sleeps - except for the members who make the biggest mess, that is! Follow this ragtag team of working class citizens as they just try to do their jobs cleaning up after the messy battles between hero and villain, while trying to stay alive - and on schedule! Each week, they face unique challenges, such as having to collect exploding chattering teeth, move their garbage truck out of the Batmobiles way and dealing with out of control vines taking over a dumpster, without harming it and angering the woman who put it there.

*Not specifically about Batman, but Batman IS Gotham, sooo...good enough*

Maybe at the end of the show, one of the main guys finds out his girlfriend is pregnant and they reveal his name is not Kyle, but rather his last name and he bails on them and the mom puts the baby in foster care.

I feel like Alfred has his own swagger, wit, and charm that doesn't require us giving him an excessively 'look how badass and action-packed I am' backstory.

It may even be a little corny to do that, and it betrays his classically humble and caring demeanor a bit too by pushing those things aside.

I don't know how I feel about this. Sounds awesome and bad at the same time for some weird reason. But it does feel more Batmany than I thought it would be
