Rumor: 'Star Wars' actor Oscar Isaac in talks for 'The Batman' role

With Matt Reeves set to turn in his first draft of the script for The Batman next month and filming starting by the middle of next year, the cast and crew will be coming together shortly.

We heard that Reeves met with actors like Jake Gyllenhaal about playing Batman last year, and now Geeks WorldWide is hearing that Reeves has met with Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac recently as well. It may not be for the role of Batman, however. Geeks WorldWide isn't sure what role he met with Reeves for, but they are confident that a meeting took place and that Isaac is very interested in joining the movie.

  I hate to say height matters for any role... but with Batman (and Superman), I'm willing to make an exception, as unfair as it is, I think the actor should be at least 1.80 m, and preferably 1.85 - 1.88 m.
  1.74 is just too short.

    6'2 is what Bruce should be. I'm 6'2 myself, which is pretty average for someone my generation in my country, but in the US, that is waaaay above average and is more than enough to tower over 95% of men. Ben is also around 6'3 to 6'4... Not that it's "too tall", but that's really stretching it. There's an athleticism to Batman that diminishes the taller he'd become. It may work for a TDKR type Batman, but a Batman in his prime should also be extremely, almost inhumanly quick and agile. And that simply does not work if you're 6'6 tall. It would look sluggish and weird (btw, the stuntman who performed the warehouse scene in BvS is actually much shorter than Affleck).
    So for me, 6'2 is the perfect Batman height +- 1 inch. I'm fine with 6'1 or 6'3, but not anything much smaller or bigger than that.

        Lol, the US average for men is 5'9, which is 5 inches (not 3) shorter, or 13 cm give or take, than 6'2. That's a pretty big difference and yes, that is WAY above average.
        Also, you said I was a Trump voter so by your logic I should be American, so why ask which country I'm from? In all seriousness, it shouldn't take a genius to figure out which country I'm from (or at least, close to) if 6'+ is the average height for men. There are only a handful of countries in the world that get to claim those numbers.

        I'm from Mexico and I'm in 6'1 (that's kind of above the average). I constantly work side by side with americans that come here, excecutives, labor and stuff... and generally when you see them they looks like a basketball team.

        All sources state the same. Americans are pretty small... you may only come into contact with taller men, because tall people are generally speaking more successful. They don't reflect the whole of the country. Also, to say they are "like a basketball team" (which is 6'5+) is a massive exaggeration, dude.

        Again, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't really care if you've only had experiences with tall Americans. The fact of the matter is, almost every source on the matter is consistent, in that they state American men are around 5'9.
        As for the taller people earning more, well yeah, that's a pretty well documented fact.

        I also never said my country has an average height of 6'2. I said a lot people of my generation are around that height, which is pretty accurate, statistically speaking. Humans continue to grow and younger generations are always taller than their parents and grandparents. If a country has an average of 6', then it is more likely that the youngest adult generation is slightly above that.

    But Jack Reacher isn't the type of character to look extremely menacing the same way Batman does. The sole purpose of "the Batman" is to strike fear in the hearts of criminals. That works best if he has an imposing physique, which again, works best if he's tall.
    Also, Keaton may hold a special place in many people's hearts, but not once did I believe criminals would actually fear that guy. With Bale and Batfleck, it's much easier to believe they truly strike fear in the hearts of criminals.

    also have to think about how the suit will make look much bigger too. so if the actor is 6'2" 215 lb then add the extra for the Batman suit (combat boots, the cowl, armor, and the cape), he would be quite large compared to most. however do think Ben was close to the perfect size and he is close to 6'4"

If he were to be Batman, speaking appearance alone, I could probably live with it. Just looks like Bruce got a bit of a tan, still has a strong and intimidating and handsome face, and with some lifts and/or clever camera work, he could at least match Henry Cavill’s height, I’m sure, since it’s only 2 inches. Matching Affleck’s height would be more difficult, though...
Edit: Turns out wherever I saw Isaac’s height was way off or I missed it or something. He’s actually 5’9”. Question is, could movie magic still help?

        If he looks about the same height, I won’t have a problem. I just would be a bit disappointed if he looks significantly shorter because I absolutely loved the idea of Superman looking up to Batman, and that would feel like a major downgrade then.

Assuming this is true, because the other rumors have been very obviously fake, is not for Batman, he does not fit the role at all even thought he is a pretty good actor, maybe for a villain. Also Gyllenhaal has to play the Joker.

        I hope so. The whole thing has been so difficult I wonder if WB will ever touch a team-up film again. I will add that I don't think they are even considering how to bring the characters together again right now. I am certain they are thinking about getting the best actors for the role despite what anyone on a message board or comments section thinks about it.
        So Superman stands taller than Batman in some shots in the movie. Is that a deal-breaker for general audiences? It isn't for me, and I'm a guy who reads comics. He was taller than Superman in BvS, but it wasn't enough to keep general audiences in love with the franchise. I am thinking WB and DC aren't concerned about that any longer.
        If Oscar Isaac put on the cape and cowl and impressed Matt Reeves, he ought to get the role. My two cents.

If it's for Batman, no way. He's only 5'9" which is a couple of inches taller than the Michael Keaton (Bat Midget). He's definitely got the acting chops. Definitely better than Affleck, but not exactly at the level of Christian Bale.

  Right now there's nothing to indicate it's moving in America, just some foreign countries like Australia and England.
  If it does, that's actually good though. There's far too much competition on the current date, meaning even if Aquaman is really good it's gonna have other big movies like Bumblebee eating into its box office.

    Sure at first i always thought maybe it should move but if the film is really good it should stay and have the others move instead. Rumors are that the film is just OK. Nothing to pay attention to obviously but I would rather WB hold their ground in show of confidence.

      Holding your ground in a bad situation is a fools errand. No reason to hurt the movie’s prospects.

        Not really. Movies change release dates to avoid conflict all the time.

      WW84 originally had a December 2019 date, but WB moved it a month earlier after Disney announced that Star Wars would be released on the same date.
