'Wonder Woman' star Gal Gadot makes Forbes' Highest Paid Actress List

Forbes has released their 2018 Highest Paid Actress List, calculating the earnings from June 1, 2017 - June 1, 2018, and this year Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has made the cut for the first time!

Gadot came in at number 10, thanks to her role as Wonder Woman. While she only made a reported $300,000 for the first movie, she signed a new contract for Wonder Woman 1984. Her acting career coupled with lucrative deals with brands like Revlon and Reebok helped Gadot earn $10 million this past year.

If you're curious, Scarlett Johanasson was the highest paid actress with $40.5 million thanks to her role in Avengers: Infinity War.

With Scarlett leading that list nobody can say that Marvel Studios is not paying their female actors enough money. 40 million for one movie is one hell of a number. That is almost Downey level money.

  WW would've been successful regardless. Patty is the one we should thank, not Gal. In fact, if it wasn't for Pine carrying that film for a big part himself, the movie would've been a lot worse.

      Wonder Woman was a hit because it was genuinely better than what came before, but a large part of it going forward is people liking Gal's take on the character.

      Let me put it this way, Gal is riding on the talent and success of Patty... Patty isn't profiting on the success of Gal. I think that's a statement we can both agree to.

      She's an actual character this time and not just a cameo? And as bad as Batman v. Superman was, people did come out liking Wonder Woman. That's why you frequently see people saying that she's the highlight of the movie despite the shitty material she was working with.
      Let's look at it like this: Gal's getting a big pay raise here while part of the holdup over a Man of Steel sequel is WB not wanting to give Henry Cavill more money because of the reactions to the movies he's been in. That's definitely a function of the writing and direction as well, there's a reason bringing Gal back was a priority for WB and while it's looking like they're already ramping up backup plans if Henry decides to walk.
      Wonder Woman as a film is a team effort but Gal Gadot is still the face and the one most people are gonna be there for. Very few directors have the sort of visibility that is gonna eclipse their star.

      Dude, I was talking about the way she behaved, not to mention her acting performance. Zack didn't manage to get a decent performance out of her. She was very wooden in BvS.
      In WW though, Patty managed to get probably the best performance out of Gal that was possible, or at least at the time.
      Also, Gal has said how they made some mistakes when it came to Wonder Woman, her behavior and her past... they changed that with Patty. So when you say: "people like her take", the take you are ACTUALLY talking about is Patty's.
      Lastly, people didn't love Gal in BvS. They loved the character of wonder woman. Big difference. They could have cast anyone it people would have gone nuts regardless.
      Gal may be "the face" of the franchise... but she's not responsible for it, and it certainly wasn't build on her shoulders.

      And yet people seem very eh on the Flash and nobody gives a shit about Ray Fisher as Cyborg right now. And as mentioned we may never get another Henry Cavill Superman movie because WB has realized audiences aren't all that sweet on him right now.
      That people came out of BVS hype as hell about Wonder Woman despite the shit writing and dumb behavior (she sits out atrocities like World War 2 and the thing that gets her back into the world is a cave troll punching Superman?) is not something that has nothing to do with the actress. In fact it reminds me quite a bit of the people who said they're interested in Aquaman because they liked Jason Momoa.

      Well Gal is the Jupiter Award and Saturn Award Best Actress winner as WW in the solo, she did confirmed the retcon last fall from BVS and also the always involved if needed which we saw in JL. Few weeks ago Gal confirmed that WW84 is a new chapter, Patty said that WW is optimistic and positive.

      They mostly liked the character. There's no doubt people would have loved any actress in that BvS part. Gal did absolutely NOTHING special. The script made her character special. She did nothing, but perform some extremely wooden lines. Give me a break.

      My only thoughts on how to ration the profits better from these entertainment industries like cinema and sports is to channel moneys back to the fans in some way. Or a certain % of profit goes directly to charities and communities and schools.
      I just hate that CEOs make if not more, just as much money as the talent does. Actors and athletes should own these industries. Not the corrupt power hungry elitists in suits.

If the product (a movie, or football) is making billions of the dollars I would prefer the actors or players be making as much of the profits as possible rather than the corporate men in suits take all the money.
I get your point that a person doesn’t deserve so much money for acting or playing a sport BUT a crazy amount of money is coming in due to their performances. If they shouldn’t get these high amounts of the profits that exist who should get it instead?
At least a majority of these football players and actors give a lot of their earned money back into their communities and different charities.

  What about the stunt doubles that risk their lives? Or the VFX teams that spent months if not years under hard pressure? So many people behind the scenes that get little to no recognition, get paid like shit and yet they are the ones that do most of the dirty work.
  Not saying actors don't deserve the money they are getting but I just wish there was more recognition and respect for the people that's not in the spotlight.

  Not only that, they are not just getting payed for playing or acting. They are getting payed for all the hours of work they put in before performing. High level athletes gotta hit the gym, work on their cardio, train to improve their skills, give out interviews... Actors sometimes gotta do press tours, rehearse, stay in shape, get more skills if the role demands it, they get awful schedules during production... there's a lot of work previous too that no one sees

Who are you to say they don't deserve it? You don't know all the work and effort they put into their jobs. Athletes and actors alike aren't just playing matches and acting. They are bettering themselves all the time, practicing,training, improving their skills, promotion tours, interviews... You are just ignorant as to what it takes to become an elite athlete and performer. Not to mention the personal struggles they had to overcome to get where they are now. Scarjo had a lot more leverage to negotiate than the others. Unlike most of the other actors in the MCU (Evans, Hemsworth, Holland, Pratt, Boseman, ect.) she was already a huge star well before she joined the MCU. In fact I remember way back when she almost didn't make it into the first Avengers film because Marvel didn't wanna pay her asking price.

  Yeah, but this is also taking into account earning beyond the MCU, though it is the driver for her other ventures. Gadot got famous after WW, and I'm sure later she will make much more, as I feel Gadot has more potential in general.

    I wouldn't be surprised if she got way more for the sequel. WW was the best received installment in the franchise so far, so WB probably wants to keep her happy.
    Compare it to the current Man of Steel 2 holdup over Henry Cavill wanting a bigger paycheck and WB feeling the response to the movies starring him doesn't really warrant a raise.

These lists/headlines are very misleading. They're actually reporting highest-earning, which is not the same as highest-paid.

Emma Stone topped the list last year because of profit-sharing on La La Land. She wasn't *paid* very much for the movie--its budget was a relatively low $30 million--but she *earned* a fuckton of money because of its massive worldwide gross ($445 million). Scarlett Johansson likely earned most of that $40.5 million the same.

The highest-paid actress is whoever gets the largest upfront salary; whoever has the highest "quote." (Gal Gadot likely wouldn't made the top 10 that way.) I don't know the answer but it's probably a bit humdrum. Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock, someone like that. Maybe it actually is Scarlett Johansson at the moment.
