Too bad there was no news about 'The Batman' or MoS2, we'll have to wait a while longer.
By the way, did you notice that little connection between 'Shazam' and 'Aquaman'?

There's still hope that he will be called Captain Marvel in the movie! I think they really ditched that lame rule they created in the New 52 where he has to mean it when he says the word Shazam! to transform. Back to the classic version is better. Say the magic word!
The Shazam! panel was a lot of fun to watch. The power I would pick is super speed!
My second choice will be flight.
That's 2 powers though.
Nope, no hope on Cpt Marvel.
The director just said yesterday he's Shazam.
Can you post the link of it?
“Let’s just say we’re going to have a bit of fun with that in the movie,” he said. “But he’s basically known as Shazam, which makes sense because of the confusion.”
So he's gonna be Shazam but there will likely be some sort of humorous shout-out to the original Captain Marvel name.

At least we finally got confirmation. I'm just glad the movie is going to be awesome. I'm so excited to finally see my favorite hero on the big screen!
Now that I think about it, his comment reminds me a lot of Booster Gold in an episode of the JL animated series. Civilians were calling him Green Lantern when in fact his name is Booster Gold. Maybe they will have a scene like this in the movie?
Still no MOS 2
First they need to do the profitable movies, I'm hoping these palate cleaners(aquaman and Shazam) will make a combined 1.5b ww combined, with ww1984 passing 2.5b and with joker passing 3b. If this happens, they can fund for the mos2, black adam, flash and cyborg, which I guess each will have ~250m budget.
...Past DC movies have made a ton of money already, and it isn't like AT&T's Warner is a small studio in dire need of funding anyway.
Sure, but the way they lost big money on jl is unacceptable. One of the biggest ips ever, and they lost more than $50m on that. They need to course correct on smaller movies, and then make big budget movies according to what they learn from them.
So you just ignore the profits they made from all their other movies, including the "small ips" Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman? I guess you must be really surprised that they have started production on at least five more DC movies already before the first (Aquaman) is even released.
By the way, Aquaman and WW84 are "big budget" already.
It is the norm for movies to profit, especially the cbms that have almost no artistic endeavor like say an indie movie running for Oscar. They made money on previous films like bvs and ss but they destroyed the general audiences interest in their future movies(visible from both movies horrid opening weekend multipliers) , which came around and bit them in jl eventually. They started projects before aquaman is distributed, but they canceled at least five movies for the ones they now have in slate. I'm still hopeful for the future of dceu, but they need course correcting and not gargling out tens of different future movies with subpar directors and executors, but we'll executed stuff like ww and aquaman
Not enough. When your big Batman/Superman team-up and JL can't even come close to touching your last two solo Batman movies, you know something is wrong.
They probably want to rehabilitate the character of Superman a little more first before they commit to spending a bunch of cash on another film for him.
LOL Snyderbots are angry now and by the way DC panel is weird without Batman and Sup
Why are they angry? Because the Snyder Cut wasn't announced?
Yes Exactly, i hoped it was announced
I get that. But were you still hoping for it after Zack Snyder's rep said he wouldn't be there and WB said they had no plans to announce it or release it?
Pine is somehow wearing the ugliest and coolest shit ever. They all look great though.
Damn, Pine is really pulling of that color scheme which I would never even try in a million years.
Wonder Woman panel was the best for me. Shazam’s was cringey, and Aquaman’s was alright, but the WW one got me really excited for the movie, and reminded me of some things about the first movie that I liked so much, like the way they handled the feminist side of things with that story. I love that it never once to me felt like a movie that was *only* for the women, but it was special and truly egalitarian, able to reach all people regardless of gender. I also really appreciate that they weren’t afraid - as Hollywood so often seems to be - to emphasize Diana’s feminine qualities as actual strengths of the character. Sure she is strong and she can fight and all that, but WW importantly also showed off her compassion and beauty and all of these things that are so often just ignored in favor of making “strong female characters” that only display masculine traits and seem like they have to go out of their way to distance themselves from any warmer qualities. Also looking forward to some Cold War stuff, lots of potential!
Also, sorely missing Hardwick, especially considered how bogus all of this situation about these allegations against him is...
And I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed Chris Pine’s ugly color combo, what was with that? Lol
Shazam wasn't cringy at all. In fact it was incredibly indicative of what Shazam is. WW and Aquaman where both great.
Eh, I got a lot of cringe. Maybe it was mostly just ‘cause that one kid would never take the microphone off his face and it drove me nuts, haha
And Pine's ugly combo actually looks pretty good.
Probably because he’s a handsome guy that can make whatever he wears work :P
Perfectly put @ Wonder Woman :)
Maybe Chris Pine was doing a bit of a casual Vegeta cosplay:
That is spot on, wow, lol
Haven't watched the panels, I rarely do to be honest, I prefer to just read about the highlights.
How does everyone feel about DC presence at Comic Con this year, particularly their movie industry presence?
Also could someone point me in the direction of must read solo comics, for each member of the Justice League, that completely nail the characters?! Thanks in advance😊
I'm assuming you're talking about this current movie Justice League roster
For Aquaman, go with the New 52 or his Rebirth run.
For Batman, read Batman year one, Long Halloween and maybe TDKR if you like that type of story
Wonder Woman's most iconic run is probably Wonder Woman by George Perez imo. Azzarello's run isn't bad either
For Superman, go with All Star Superman it's still the best story featuring Superman imo.
For Flash, I actually like both Flash Rebirth and Flash new 52. But I'm not gonna lie never was a big flash reader.
For Cyborg, I can't really help you because for me he's at his best as a Titan. So I'd go for one of the iconic Teen Titans runs.
Cheers thanks for the reply! Any recommendations for Shazam? Any for Justice League? Green Lantern?
Shazam's easy. Go with the New 52 run. I feel like it's the most modern take and it's the least jarring of them all. It's also the one the movies are going to be using.
anything by Geoff Johns is good for Green Lantern
Honestly, for JL I'd just watch the cartoon. I know that sounds insane but it really is a great indication of the characters and their dynamics. But, if you insist on the comics
I'm a fan of JL new 52 start by Geoff Johns called "Origins" I think.
Tower of Babel is a great one
Justice by Alex Ross and Jim Krueger is great
Divided we Fall is great
Rock of Ages is also good.
Again thanks very much for the reply.
Don't worry about it. Anyone looking for a start in the comics I'll help out.
I've read a lot of comics but not much Superhero ones recently. I read Preacher and really enjoyed it for the most part. I've been reading American Vampire as well which is quite good. I was reading Sandman and really enjoyed it but stopped and have been meaning to get back into it. Pretty much a big fan of the Vertigo brand of comics. Dabbled in Constantine as well and thought it was really good.
Constantine is my favorite magic character ever. Preacher is great and so is Sandman. But yeah man, I got you with the superhero stuff.
Without criticizing your response at all, I'm curious about your "least jarring" comment, partly because I've seen similar comments elsewhere recently. What is it about older comics (maybe pre-computer colorization?) that current readers find "jarring"? As someone who grew up in the Bronze Age, I'm genuinely curious.
I've always found older Captain Marvel runs and comics too retro if that makes sense. The character always felt (at least to me) like he was trapped in the Golden Age of comics even in relatively recent runs, hence the jarring part . It feels, at least to me, that his character didn't fit in his setting after a while. With exceptions of course. There's something more modern, interesting and believable about his new 52 story that I always liked. Having said that, I've always liked the character. But I didn't become a fan until his New 52 run.
It does make sense, thanks! (Although personally my favorite was Jerry Ordway's "The Power of Shazam!")
For WW you're best off with the Greg rucka run. Azzarello run was not the WW you'll see in movies. She's a bloodthirsty warrior (and a real bitch) in azzarello run. And the perez run is great but its very dated.
For flash read the Geoff Johns stuff and new 52.
All star superman is good for people who already are Superman fans and already readers. I would recommend American alien or birthright or even Geoff Johns Superman run instead if you're new to comics.
I asume he has a general idea of the characters since he didn't necessarily ask for origin books. Which is why I recommended All Star Superman which is the best Superman book. But yes, both solid choices if he is a newbie.
I am familiar with all the characters but not very up to date with current versions in the comics as they have been chopped and changed quite a bit. Was just looking for some good stories in general that best showcases each character individually.
You've got a good selection to choose from. Any one of these runs is good.
Thanks again
:)
Yeah Flash Rebirth is the Geoff Johns stuff, I think.
Thanks I'll check them out. Just finished Superman Secret Identity and really enjoyed it. I would have liked more stories with this version of the character in that world.
It show up on google news sometimes for me.
