No, "Worlds of DC" was not announced as the official name for the DCEU

By now you've probably seen some headlines that said "Worlds of DC is the official name for the DCEU". That is simply not true! I've spoken to multiple people who were inside Hall H for Warner Bros.' San Diego Comic-Con presentation today. Here's what actually happened...

Warner Bros. showed a sizzle reel of DC movies and at the end it said "WELCOME TO THE WORLDS OF DC". Here's an image:

That's it! There wasn't an announcement. It was simply a line of text at the end of a promotional video. That's hardly Warner Bros. "announcing" or "officially rebranding" the DCEU as these articles say.

I've received every press release that Warner Bros. sent out today. None of them mentioned "Worlds of DC" or any kind of official name for the DCEU. The DCEU is still officially nameless (DCEU is an unofficial name that caught on in 2015 and has been used ever since).

Hopefully you only rely on Batman News for your DC movie news and you weren't confused by all of the websites that put out this misinformation today. But in case you saw the news elsewhere, I just wanted to clear it up for you here. Warner Bros. didn't announce an official name for the DCEU today.

While at first I didn’t care for the name, at least we would have an official one. Back to DC Films then but not DCFU because you know... too easy! :P

  I started calling it the DC Films Universe for a while, but just went back to DCEU since that's what's popular and has stuck.

    Yeah, truth be told it’s much easier to revert back to what’s being “accepted” as the official one but even DCEU is better than DCFU, which is WAY too easy to ridicule! At least, it could always be worse! :P

This means that The Joker wont be the only character to have different versions. Its smart to explain multiple worlds (since there are) and hopefully this means we will see a Batman Beyond?
Still dying for an announcement for DC Dark Zantana and Swampthing and Deadman....that story is just begging to be told and it can be told in a different world. Perfect.
BTW, i really hope they have enough time to finish the rendering for Aquaman. Loved it.

So...did anyone from Warner Bros actually say anything official or explain about having multiple or parallel simultaneous versions of the same character? I hoped for some debunking or clarification about it as the mere idea of something like that would be so offputting, confusing and disappointing for general audiences...maybe not so much for DC fans...but they need to regain the trust of the general audience if they do want to have successful business within the superhero movie market...just my opinion.
Also...no news regarding Matt Reeves' Batman project? No casting or production news? I was hoping that the world would finally know something about it at the end of SDCC

Come to think of it, I'm puzzled that no new brand name was announced. So what, they just going to let DCEU stay? Nobody is buying the "DC Films" thing.

the best name would just be DC Cinematic Universe but then they would come off as though they are copying marvel. Its just such a simple and generic name though but it works perfectly

      It's ok if you like or doesn't like MoS/BvS. The problem is people's attitude with Zack Snyder, this guy has just created a new standard, thanks to him and his crew there is a before and an after, even MCU has been inspired by his work and upgraded its standards: has better costumes, better soundtracks, and also better villains since Zod in Man of Steel.
      And I also understand your desire about DC films being as praised as MCU. But I think it won't happen as easily as you think with those new DC movies, the bloggers and "critics" who have bashed MoS/BvS/SS (and not WW since there's a female leading role), will just destroy Aquaman and Shazam with every dumb argument possible because they generate more clicks this way.
      For one kill or destruction in DC, I can show you much more in the MCU, or those killings also exist in CB, but the thing is, there's a always a double standard for DC films. Our so-called DC community just kill itself by following this double standard generated by those one-sided medias.
      You think that people who prefer Zack Snyder's movies are the minority, unlike me they are maybe just tired to argument with people who keep trolling about Zack Snyder. I mean even this website's boss prefer BvS over the other DCEU movies ;)

        God you are delusional. Hack didn't create a new standard and definitely the MCU took NO inspiration from his shoddy attempts at filmmaking.
        Also, there is no double standard, and MCU films have nothing to do with anything. I don't care about MCU films. I care about DC films that have characters killing when they shouldn't.
        You and Ninja can't get that through your thick heads and need to keep comparing MCU films as though that justify's Hack's choices.

        MCU has been heavily influenced by Zack Snyder's work. By the way, why am I even talking about "standard" with a guy who praise CW's Arrowverse.

        I don't understand what was so wrong about this scene, or should rather say why are you trying to make this scene as awful. There are much worse villains in the MCU, Red Skull with his cliché evil German accent lol, must be one of the worst villain ever. I'm not surprised by Hugo Weaving not reprising his role.

        Because that wasn't luthor, and as far as an alternate take on luthor went it sucked....he wasn't enjoyable to watch, watching him honestly made me cringe.

        Standards exist to be surpassed, so I hope it will be with the new movies.

        "Jolly Rancher Luthor": I understand. But except his last line about the "league of our own" (reshot by Whedon for WB's future films strategy), the last scene in JL belongs to Zack Snyder, and they fixed him as he should be. Lesson learned?
        "Dumbsday": I can't agree more about "Dumbsday", Doomsday is the dumbest villain of DC. He doesn't talk, he's not meant to be "intelligent". He's just here to unite the Trinity in BvS.
        "Waving arms Witch": I don't know if Enchantress was Zack Snyder's choice as the villain we have seen, but yeah it's a bad villain.
        "Steppenwolf": From Ciaran Hinds himself: "That wasn’t the movie I worked so hard on. We hope the director’s cut comes out because it was better than the movie in the theaters".

It would’ve been nice to actually have a real name... “DC Extended Universe” especially doesn’t have the same charm now that we’re not getting an “extended” cut of JL, even though almost every other movie has had one, lol :P

I like “DC Universe” for universe films and “DC Black Label” for elseworlds films.Geoff Johns had said before they would announce what the off universe brand would be.My guess is if Aquaman and Shazam are big successes, the shared universe idea will be saved and they’ll move forward with “universe” films and “elseworlds” films

I think they should own "World of DC," as it signifies WB having all the DC character licenses, unlike Marvel who's licenses are splintered across multiple studios.

Just call it "DC Universe" for Zod's sake. Simple, easy to remember, makes for good initials (DCU) and rolls off the tongue.
Or just own the fact that the universe has been called the "DCEU" for nearly four years now and officially call it that. It's really stupid that they have yet to name their "universe" after 5 movies. Imagine if the MCU did that. People would get confused and annoyed.
