on The Wall Street Journal is doing a Snyder Cut article and fans may have answers soon

Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Fritz reached out to some DC fans on Twitter about a story that he is working on. What did all of these DC fans have in common? They were all hardcore supports of the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement.

Ever since Justice League hit theaters, some fans have been campaigning for Warner Bros. to release director Zack Snyder's original cut of the movie. Part of WB's hesitation, besides the millions of dollars they'd have to put in to finish it (it was just a rough cut), is the fact that they didn't like Snyder's cut. It was The Wall Street Journal that reported that Snyder showed Warner Bros. his rough cut in early 2017 and they weren't satisfied with it. That's what lead to Joss Whedon being hired, as well as the extensive reshoots.

But now it appears that fans cries have been heard. The Wall Street Journal is a huge and very respected publication. A reporter like Frtiz wouldn't just get one side of the story, and it's very likely that Warner Bros. will comment for the first time about the Snyder Cut in his article. Fritz will probably even try to get a comment from Snyder himself.

One of the fans who Fritz interviewed said that the article will be published around San Diego Comic-Con, which is just a couple of weeks away. Good or bad, fans should have an answer about the future of the Snyder Cut of Justice League soon.

I'd settle for a general outline or storyboards of what the original story was supposed to be, and an idea of how JL2 would've gone. See how the BvS easter eggs for JL2 would've played out. I was invested in the story arc so it sucks to potentially never know how it was supposed to truly end.

I think if they just called it "Snyder's ROUGH Cut" there would be less of an argument here.

If Zack foots the bill then I say let him release the SnyderCut. At least give him the chance to try and wrap up a lot of the plot threads from BVS & MOS. Plus I missed Zimmer's MOS theme that Junkie XL was going to incorporate (Side note I hated Elfman's music for JL - but loved his original '89 Batman).

It felt bland and forgettable which is sad because Elfman is very talented but seems to be missing the pep in his step in the past 5 years. Nothing he's made recently seems interesting or memorable.

I’d genuinely like to see it I think he deserves to have a finished cut out there. Some of the abuse Snyder gets is massively over the top.

I’m still surprised people aren’t furious how WB swept his exit under the carpet and used the sad death of his daughter as a excuse to get rid of him. I thought that was sickening but maybe that’s just me.

I actually think that his daughter commited suicide because they got Snyder so busy making BvS and JL back to back that he could not be for her when she needed him. WB are scum, they should have not butchered his movie, throw him under the bus, and then put that "Directed by Snyder" bullshit in the movie

I couldn't care less when people make these insignificant mistakes. So long as the point comes across, it's fine as far as I'm concerned. When I acted like the grammar Nazi before in this comment section, I was trolling (obviously) and not being serious about it, AT ALL.
You are... You condescend and pretend you're superior just because you're able to write grammatically sound comments in your own native language. Me "correcting" your comments is just a reminder of the hypocrisy that surrounds you (not to mention, your arrogance). If you go around pretending you are somehow superior just because you DEEM yourself better (linguistically), then you better make sure your comments are not plagued by some of the most basic and noobish grammatical errors in the book. Again, it's not that I care you made those mistakes. We all make them... It's simply that if I - or anyone else - makes them (especially in French), you act like a douchebag with a serious superiority complex as though no one can touch you. It's petty as fuck.

(I apologise in advance if this has already been mentioned)

Let's say a completed "JL:SC" exists, with all the rumours of Snyder working on it behind the scenes on his own back etc being true...

Am I the only one that believes that releasing the "SC" as a "launch exclusive" on the "DC Universe" streaming service, would be a good way of minimising the commercial risks involved with a physical wide release, whilst pleasing those fans that would like to see the "darker" cut - they own the service, & in theory, in a very over-simplified way, they can do what they like on it (licensing restrictions permitting of course).

Whilst it does feel slightly cynical to capitalise on the passionate fanbase, it gives another layer of interest to the new platform & would (imo) elevate initial sign-ups for the initial month or so?

    1. Kerk Lastnameless Avatar

Taking everything you just said at face value, such a thing would never be released because it would tarnish WB's reputation. If it's better than the original, it would make the execs look bad. If it's worse, then it will further dilute the characters. WB wins nothing by releasing a cut like this even if Snyder foots the bill. So, save yourself the headache and move on.

This seems like a perfect solution. The Snyder cut would be an awesome gift to hard-core DC fans who sign up for the streaming service. A successful launch of DC streaming would be worth A LOT of money to WB - you could easily justify the expenses involved.

And at the same time it would impose no extra cost to subscribers, so everyone would be cool watching a movie with unfinished effects. And come on, let’s face it, the people who paid their money last fall saw a movie with unfinished effects.

Snyder and Snyder fans(bots) must understand it that DC's characters are not theirs to ruin they belong to all of the fans and we can't tolerate another awful vision about them so their reputation are ruined.
If they really like this cut they better fund it themselves and change the characters name to Angryman, Superidiot and etc and finally the problem is solved.

And Snyder haters MUST UNDERSTAND, that comic book writers F*CK these characters up, all the time!😂 Obviously you want the best possible versions put up on the big screen. Well, the same applies for the "Snyder haters". They don't own the DC characters either.
Everything in fiction like comic books is open to interpretation. A film director could view a character diferently from the typical fans. They could like it or they couldn't like it.
If his vision doesn't match a comic book it doesn't mean that we couldn't read the comic book, its still there. Its not that they burn all the comic book copies when they release a movie.

Justice League is already universally hated (even by Snyder fans) so what harm can releasing his original cut do? Even if it's unfinished the fact that it doesn't have Joss Whedon's rotten stench already makes it leagues better.

  11. ClearWater Jones Avatar

The real reason why this website and so many others so harshly rail on the Snyder Cut and fans who have been campaigning for it, is simply this: The all wanna be right! If The Snyder Cut is released and it turns out that the movie is better than The Whedon version, these people, websites and critics all look like morons! It's not that they really give a crap, but if the Snyder Cut never comes out they can keep going on and on about how it was never going to be better than the theatrical cut and that Zack Snyder ruined the DCEU, and his fans are idiots. The Snyder Cut is going to come out and surprise all the haters by being a masterpiece! The Whedon Cut set the bar so low for Justice League that The Snyder Cut doesn't even have to be great it just has to contain the majority of the advertised content with a few deleted scenes and it will still be better than what came out in theaters. This is what worries critics, bloggers and haters. They want to move on from Justice League because they hate Snyder too much to see him get this one right. WB knows they messed up by not allowing Zack Snyder to see his vision through and in-spite of what this website and other wish to believe the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement is continuing to grow and is not just a small minority anymore!

    1. OptimistPrime99 Avatar
      OptimistPrime99

There may never even be another Justice League movie made. So if there's a bunch of unseen footage from the original, and you're a DC fan, you're gonna want to watch it. Snyder's failure was not being able to convince the studio, that his vision was good enough. That's the director's #1 job. But it would be nice for WB to allow the fans to judge, since the footage was already filmed and paid for.💰

As for the correcting bit, again... that was made in a lighthearted trollish tone, because he repeatedly spoke on behalf of other people and assumed their positions, which is wrong. If he lowers himself to such petty behavior while morally grandstanding and claiming some sense of intellectual authority in the same breath, then I'm allowed to ridicule that by showing he makes some truly stupid grammatical mistakes.
As for you not "being an expert", true you never explicitly said it... but you most certainly behave like it. This isn't the first time I've seen you talking down to people who are just trying to have a decent conversation in French. And you shat on them because their French wasn't perfect. Also, fils de put literally translates, as I'm sure you know, to son of a whore. This exaggerated personal attack was imo extreme enough to figure out I wasn't serious.

"And yeah I am serious when I thank you for the correction, because at least I learn something."
I seriously doubt it. I reckon you just feel compelled to say this, because if you didn't, you'd be a hypocrite and you know it.
Who the fuck says stuff like "Honore la moitié de tes gènes en me parlant uniquement en français à partir de maintenant" if you're not set on ridiculing me and my supposed lack of proper French? It was evident that you only wanted me to make mistakes, so you could in turn correct them and feel better about yourself. There really is no other reason as to why you would have said that.
You were actively daring me to speak French, I guess you didn't expect that I would. Again, why would you do this, if not to feel better about yourself? Sorry, but I'm truly not buying your whole innocent "I'm only here to learn"-charade.

I think THAT would be worse, because they would have no way of knowing what I said wasn't truthful, and I would know that too... making it more malicious and serious in intent.

"it was a joke you didn't get."
Oh, so you can make jokes, but I can't. Thing is, I don't believe you. There's nothing funny about this, nor could I have possibly known you weren't being serious about it. Because you obviously were.

"and don't care if you do mistakes in french."

I still don't believe you... The subtext of your comment was fucking obvious. Don't tell me if I had replied in English, you would have said, "Oh, it's all good, I didn't mean it when I implored you to write only in French". Are you really expecting me to believe such absolute nonsense?

If the rumors are true that Zack Snyder has been working on Justice League for the past seven months with Cruel and Unusual Films, who's to say the VFX aren't finished? There are also recent rumors circulating that Junkie XL had been secretly finishing up the score and has that done now. So why do people keep saying that it would cost too much to finish up and it would only be a rough cut, when those involved in the production have gone on record saying it was nearly done when Zack was removed from the project? If pickup shots were all that was needed there is no reason not to believe that a ready for release version isn't just waiting to be announced. This website spends an awful lot of time underestimating and claiming things cannot be done, when they were not involved in the production themselves! Unbelievable!

Releasing the Snyder Cut would be a great way for Warner Bros. to win fans back by admitting that they have screwed up with Justice League and releasing this Cut as a sign that things have improved. It would also be sort of a redemption for the actors and the characters they have played. Moustarche-gate, the awfull Batman jokes and other issues would propably be solved. If it is succesfull then they could do a Justice League 2 in Snyder's style and finish this series with all the actors currently in it. But I will be shocked if WB will release it. Executives don't want to look bad by admitting such a failure, even if that means that the movie would stay trash. They would rather spend the money on new projects so that Justice League can be forgotten eventually. I expect Warner Bros. to comment that there is no such thing as a Snyder Cut and that will be the end of it.

Well, is a shining and classic example of a studio meddling with the vision of an artist and turning it into shit, it is even offensive that the JL movie has a "Directed by Zack Snyder" when is 100% clear that is NOT his movie. I genuinely don't care if another version of Justice League is released. I enjoyed the one I saw in theaters (yeah, I said it, deal with it). Of course there were visible issues with it but it's not the steaming turd people make it out to be. That, and I feel it's better to learn from this financial disaster than dwell on it and possibly make it worse.

What I do care about is the constant meddling in these films, which, as you said, occurs because of financial considerations. It's been going on for like this for over twenty-f****** years (forty if you count the original Superman series, but that was more the Salkinds than WB). Either let the director make the film you said you would let them make or come up with it yourself and hire a television director that's happy to have a job.

The only reason WB didn't meddle with Christopher Nolan's Batman movies was because the financial returns were out of this world.

I'f LOVE for WB to release Snyder's version of JL. Just so we can put to bed this thinking that it'd be better than the one we got. News Flash, IT WOULDN'T. Do you really think after BvS got torched by critics and rejected by the general audience after 1 Weeks would turn in a critical darling and crowd pleaser like the Dark Knight or Wonder Woman? That Jay Oliva guy is like "SNyder's 5 Part Movie Arc would have been amazing" ARe you serious pal? He tanked the franchise after 2 movies. But oh the audience would have come around eventually. They haven't come around since 300.

THe Snyder Cut is just a false sense of hope that Snyder fanboys have. They think that if it was released that JL would have played like Avengers. When it probably would have went the way of Fan4stic.

I don't think many, if any, of us who want the Snyder Cut think that it would have played like the Avengers. But it at least would have rewarded the fans (like me) who had embraced the approach taken in MoS and BvS, instead of making us feel rejected for very little gain on WB's part. I want to see it because I want to see Zack's intention for the end of the story, not because I think it will score some points in an imaginary contest.

Anytime you post something about Snyder, BvS, JL, etc. you know it's going to generate hits and posts( usually of the negative kind ). Which is good for your site I have no doubt, but it's not good for the fandom. DC & Zack Snyder is a toxic relationship that needs a permanent break-up. WB/DC is already on Tinder looking for a new fling, it's time we all did the same. This coming from a Snyder fan.

Agree about 85% of your post (same as directed by Zack Snyder). Don't agree with 1st and last line. Apart from that all good. :0)

If they do decide to release the Snyder cut, i think they should release it on that new dc universe streaming service, it would be a brilliant marketing move because you know some people are going to want to see it. By the way that batmobile from BvS and justice league films is awesome, i I wasn't able to get a good look at it until i seen it in on set pictures in daylight it's easy to see how cool it looks

WB didn’t try to cut no man’s land.

I'd love to see this, just for the sake of seeing the finish to the trilogy that began with Man of Steel.

pretty sure it'll be more watchable than Josstice League since the execs at WB actually greenlit that train wreck.

I do, but I just wanna see how Snyder wanted it to start for Superman not what we got in JL.
I didn't want an incomplete story but that's sadly what I'll get even if I do get to see this cut.

His character was already developed in MoS, Idk what you're talking about, I just want to see the introductory part of his story in this universe completely which is what MoS, BvS and JL was said to be not what I got in the released JL movie.
It doesn't matter to you but it greatly does to me cause I can probably see the actual continuation to BvS.

Yes, let's have more controversial news to divide the fan base around Comic Con instead of coming together and being excited for the upcoming movies! I just truly hope that it's at least something new and definitive so that we can finally move on...

He got nothing better to do cause nobody will hire his hack ass.Only wb was retarded enough but after BvS, Jl fiasco they have woken up.

If the existence of a Snyder cut is true, then I don't see what difference it would make. The story is still about the formation of the League, Steppenwolf, and the resurrection of Superman. Therefore, it still contains the ingredients that make up the recipe of disaster.

If I were WB, I would just ignore it. A Snyder cut wouldn't improve anything. Just like the BvS "Ultimate Edition" (LOL) was supposed to make that movie better.

I'll give the WB and all DC fans the same advice I gave Hillary Clinton. It's done. You sucked. Let it go.

Any way we can help? Once I saw UE of BvS I fell in love. Desperately want to see the darker cut of JL!

Keep putting #ReleaseTheSnyderCut on your social media accounts. WB is listening. AT&T just merged with them and now it is WarnerMedia. They want to have a good first customer service impression and will want to show the fans they care about our opinion. Especially now when they have that first impression to make.

Id love to see this. I haven't liked everything i heard about this cut but i do believe overall, it would be a better movie, than what we got released. I think if nothing more it would sync better with MoS and BvS. JL barely seemed like it was set in the same universe.

Well those people that "weren't satisfied" with it are now gone. Geoff Johns is gone, Jon Berg is gone, Kevin Tsujihara stepped aside. That crap about they weren't satisfied is complete falsehood, people actually did like it. Watch this video, go to 10:15, some lady in the audience who got to see that "rough cut" said it's better than what she saw in theatres. https://youtu.be/V4Jppa8t6mc
