Al Pacino praises Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot as an actor

June 24, 2018

Back in March, Al Pacino was a guest on the Maltin on Movies podcast and was asked which directors or actors working today impress him. Pacino listed what he called the "obvious" choices like Leonardo DiCaprio and James Franco, but then he turned his focus to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot.

"And the girls too, all over the place. You just can't believe it how good they are," Pacino said. "You see that girl in Wonder Woman. Whoa! Sometimes I'm just home and there's Wonder Woman, in the middle, wherever. I don't care. I'll look at it five minutes a day just to watch what she does. She is something!"

That is extremely high praise coming from someone like Al Pacino, who many consider to be one of the best actors of this generation. He even says he'd like to try doing a superhero movie one day. You can listen to Pacino's comments below around the 1:14:47 mark.

Exactly what I was thinking while reading. Many men would say she rocks just because she's beautiful. It's like when I criticized an actor recently and they came back at me "but that movie he played rocked". Misplaced judgement. Great movies doesn't make their actors better or good. And it's the same for the looks.
Like they say in french "L'habit ne fait pas le moine." (The clothes doesn't make the monk).

https://uploads.disquscdn.c... I'm sure Pacino will be in Marvel movie, soon enough. The Council Chamber scene in the Wonder Woman movie, is where she finally got to flex as an actor. The energy and emotional range in that scene, isn't easy to pull off. And she nailed it! And she's able to transfer her likability to the screen. That's what allowed The Rock to become a movie star.

I won't say she's great or even good in other roles but as Diana she was great, she owns that role now and is easily the best thing about the DCEU.

There is an & after Godfather 2 that isn't followed by another movie, so maybe he meant to type Scarface there. lol

I quite liked him in Insomnia as well, its one of his better "newer" performances (the film was out in 2002 but whatever) and is one of Nolan's lesser known films.

I’m baffled how are De Niro and Pacino are taking roles like Jack and Jill and Dirty Grandpa as newer roles. Paychecks I say ?

Last great De Niro role i think was Silver Linings Playbook, he was fantastic in that and made me wish he had more roles lately what show of his talents.

Not the best, but good too in: Carlito's Way, Serpico, Donnie Brasco

The only reason Gal Gadot was OK in Wonder Woman because of Patty Jenkins patiently reshooting scenes until Gal gave a decent performance .
They have to make entire Amazons speak ridiculous accent to cover up Gal Gadot Israeli accent.
She is like Vin Diesel or Arnold. terrible actor but has charisma to be an Action star
