Zack Snyder shares his first photo of Henry Cavill in the 'Man of Steel' costume

Man of Steel will celebrate its 5th anniversary later this week, and director Zack Snyder is celebrating a little early.

Snyder shared the first photo he took of Cavill suited up in the Man of Steel Superman costume for the first time back in 2011. "First time in costume... first photo," he wrote on Vero. You can check out the photo above.

The next time Henry Cavill will be wearing his Superman costume is rumored to be Shazam, but we don't have any official word on when we may actually see him next.

        none of them did imo. Besides, Henry Cavill is huge so I am able to suspend some disbelief as to what is actually real or not real muscle. Either way, its to make them look more heroic.

        because in the comics, their costumes would appear to be skin tight. But it only works because the characters are drawn as having fantastic physiques with extremely defined musculature which, again, is to make them look more heroic or even godlike, which is why it works. The design of the DCEU suits are clearly meant to replicate this effect in an attempt to appeal to the source material. I think they have pulled it off extremely well personally. However, most of the avengers dont have that same kind of skin tight costume aside from Spiderman, but tbh he doesn't really need to look like he has huge muscles.

        I have no issue operating under the assumption that those could actually be his real muscles when he has the suit on, even if i know there is some padding.

        Tbh I would rather they look like proper superheroes. I am personally able to use my imagination effectively in this regard. What you are describing sounds better suited to something like Nolan's world where it actually IS supposed to be a very grounded and realistic take. But the DCEU is a true comic book world. My problem with the Bale batman costume was that it didn't really compliment his physique at all and made him seem more skinny like a ninja as opposed to the intimidating monster as well as the godlike icon that is the Batman. I dont need it to completely make sense as, again, this is a true comic book world and I am able to suspend some disbelief and/or use my imagination to think of a reason as to why Batman's costume looks that way. Made he made it like this specifically to make him seem more intimidating? Who knows. But it looks damn good though in my opinion.

        Well, strictly speaking in a visual sense, i think most people are aware that not everything translates well to live action. But see for me, a big part of why I accept these costumes in live action has a lot to do with simply accepting them in the comics as well. It took me a while to really understand comic books because I found superheroes to be rather absurd visually, but once I finally started really immersing myself in the fantasy of these worlds and understanding it all, I started to think that they looked cool honestly. So for me its just a matter of them translating whats on the page onto the screen. And the reason some of us really like it is because, to us, they managed to do that in a way that still looked really cool and not out of date or cheesy(again, this is just our opinion). Which is why it works. Thats how we view it.
        As for the colors, i dont care if its grey and black or completely black in the movies. They both work imo. However, the purpose of multiple colors on most if not ALL characters is that...well simply that it is more interesting. The members of the justice league are supposed to be iconic figures. Their symbols represent something, which is why I feel they should be able to be seen. Its not as if he would be vastly more visible in the darkness by having a gray suit.

    Things I didnt like about Batman in BvS and JL: Batman being hanging up in the corner of a wall like spiderman, batman doesnt do that. Batman crawling upside down on the ceiling.. I hate it.
    Batman not using is cape to gliding like he does on Christopher Nolan Batman, and all the capes of super and bats are too much cgi.
    I didnt like the back flip jump batman does on the intro of justice league, in a real batman movie batman just drop to the guy using is cape. I think thats all.

      I agree. I also thought they messed up by not having batman disappear when the thug turns around to shoot him. Imagine the thug sees batman, turns around, then turns back to shoot batman but batman has vanished. Would’ve been a lot more badass than seeing him grapple away. Almost like seeing a massive spider in your house and then looking back after turning around to see that it’s gone lol. And yeah that black flip was completely unnecessary and didn’t even look cool.

I didn't like that the blue was washed out. I think it would've been a better look for it to be an honest navy or ocean blue. But for it to work, the red and yellow on the symbol would really have to pop out.
But the muscle suit sold me. There's still padding of course, but it wasn't obnoxious like it was in the BvS/JL suits. This muscle suit looks more like it gave form to Cavill's bulk instead of adding to it.

  I loved the darker, more subtle color scheme of MoS. It kept things believable, while still being true to the spirit of the comics. Because in real life there’s no way an alien suit would just so happen to make the wearer look like a bright American mascot

        All of those suits are beautifully cb accurate, more than the MoS is in every case. And know, hie suit didn't go darker, the last 2 are obviously much lighter.

If only they knew how much Snyder would divide and then disappoint and betray the fanbase.
It's crazy that WB gave Zack another shot after MoS and BvS:DoJ. They didn't give a third Batman film to Schumacher, nor did 20th give a third Fantastic Four film to Story, and Sony didn't give a third Spider-Man film to Webb.
At least WB seems to have learned from their mistake.

  True. I hope he's never mentioned again after Aquaman and Shazam come out. It just seems like Zack's desperate for praise and approval, and he knows he'll get it on Vero. I know people say "he's just sharing pics", and sure that may be true... but at the same time, you only have to take one look at his fans on Vero to know why he keeps pandering to them. Awesome photo. Bitchin' suit. The colouring reminds me of the Rebirth Suit from the Comics. Cavill really embodies the character. I hope they give him a chance to take the portrayal in a new direction. I've always hoped that he'd be more personable in the next one. He really wants to do a sequel. Warner would be stupid not to.
