on New Wonder Woman domain names may reveal the sequel's Batman-inspired title

Patty Jenkins has already said that the sequel to Wonder Woman won't be called Wonder Woman 2, but that's what everyone is calling it until we get an official title. Thanks to some new domain names that Warner Bros. recently registered, we may have some clues as to what the movie will be called.

According to Domain Name Wire, Warner Bros. registered a bunch of Wonder Woman related domain names this week. Based on those domains, some possible Wonder Woman 2 titles could be Wonder Woman Arrives, Wonder Woman Cheetah, Wonder Woman Lives, Wonder Woman Minerva, Wonder Woman Returns or Wonder Woman Rises. Patty Jenkins has said she doesn't think of the sequel as "Wonder Woman 2" because it's not really a sequel to the first movie. It's just a standalone, new Wonder Woman adventure. So we can probably rule out Wonder Woman 2 ever becoming the official title.

Wonder Woman Returns or Wonder Woman Rises reminds me of Batman Returns and The Dark Knight Rises. Are you a fan of any of these titles, or do you hope that Warner Bros. goes with something different? Let me know in the comments below.

    They are not Batman inspired. Rises and Returns is not something Batman invented. They were used as titles long before that.

        I don't watch a lot of movies and can connect pretty much anything to Batman lol. But yeah, seeing as it's Warner Bros. and they've done "Batman Returns" and "Superman Returns" I wouldn't be surprised to see "Wonder Woman Returns" either.

    Wonder Woman Lives and Rises are the only decent ones :P Don’t know how they’d tie the “Lives” into the plot, though... “Part 2”/“Part II” would be fine. Personally, though, I like the idea of having the year as the subtitle! It would sort of go along with my desire for this to be a type of adventure anthology visiting WW’s exploits throughout different ages, and it potentially just has a certain stylistic edge to it I can appreciate.

        that’s really just semantics though. we all know that Batman returns is a sequel to batman 89... yet other than a Vicky vale one liner and a few returning characters the story is also standalone.

          I actually don't consider Batman Returns to be a sequel to Batman. Storywise, nothing from the first movie impacts or carries over to the next movie (besides the Vicky Vale line you mentioned). All of those Batman movies in the 80s and 90s are standalone in my opinion. Not true sequels in the way that The Dark Knight was a sequel to Batman Begins.

          That's how I see the Wonder Woman franchise going too. Wonder Woman 2 can't really be a true sequel to the first movie since it's taking place 70 years later. It's just another standalone movie in the franchise.

    A lot of these are probably just land grabs ahead of domain squatters. Given both the Cheetah and what we've seen of present day Diana's style, i'd go with Wonder Woman: Catwalk.

    I'm excited for Wonder Woman 2. The only thing I'm not liking is the fact it's set in the 80's. We already had a movie that takes us back to a historical period. Would've made more sense to keep it present day. But what do I know? I'm no movie director.

      I was thinking about Steve Trevor's situation in the first movie and if Themiscyra existed and you were a man who washed ashore there, they'd have to kill you. They can't just have a man on the island that they have to imprison and feed for life and they couldn't allow you to leave for fear you'd reveal their location. So, it's not really a glamorous scenario. lol

    Enough of the Rises/Returns titles. Patty should choose a thematic title, just like the comics. Something in the vein of Spirit Of Truth, Paradise Lost, The Circle, The Hiketeia, etc. And by the way, Jenkins talked about maintaining the thematic heft that made the first film such a compelling story:

    "It’s really still going to other values of hers, and a similar formula insofar as making a great, enjoyable fun movie but that ultimately in its third act turns some very big issues, and a very big experience that will aim to have slightly more weight and profundity than it has to have. Because that’s a formula that I really like, and I like the idea of taking somebody on a very solid, great journey but that arrives at a bigger question being answered. So it’s like that but because she is Wonder Woman and she’s here now and she’s fully developed, it’s got great fun from the start and great big superhero presence from the start, and is funny and a great love story again and a couple new unbelievable characters who I’m so excited about, who are very different than were in the last movie."

    Ultimately I believe the title's going to reflect that. It won't be as uninspired as 'WW Returns' or some such nonsense, though I undestand the studios' obsession with boiling things down to the lowest common denominator.
