Zack Snyder's original 5-part DCEU described as "epic, grand, emotional, joyful and unforgettable"

Zack Snyder's time in the DCEU ended as a trilogy with Justice League, but the original plan, before everyone freaked out over Batman v Superman, was to tell a 5-part story. Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Justice League 1, Justice League 2, and a fifth and final mystery movie were all part of Snyder's original vision, according to DC Films storyboard artist Jay Oliva.

Last week, a fan asked Oliva to elaborate on that original 5-movie plan. "I cannot go into any specifics," Oliva explained on Twitter. "But it was epic, grand, emotional, joyful and unforgettable...."

Snyder himself even revealed recently that he put a Justice League 2 easter egg in Batman v Superman. Unfortunately, that'll never pay off now.

That's the problem with playing the long game. If you're putting out crap right from the start, people aren't gonna politely hang in there on the off chance movie #5 will blow them away.

I have the impression this 'joyful' stuff would have amounted to four movies of dour, grim, po-faced overdramatic emotional constipation, finished with a fifth movie that, in the last few minutes, grumbles under its breath something vaguely hopeful and actually joyful.

We have to move on. The future is wide open and it has the chance to be something special with the right people involved. I can't stay stuck on this Snyder stuff and what might have been.

It's a shame we never got to see it. I loved MoS and BvS and was interested in seeing where this university was going. The characters were interesting and flawed. The world responded realistically to the things that happened around it. Unfortunately we see time and again that "safe" makes people happy. Just look at the last Jedi. People don't want to see the characters and lorebthey know being tested or changed. They want safe and familiar and any changes are met with harsh resistance. I enjoyed JL for what it was but I won't watch it as many times as I watched MoS and BvS. It's just not as fascinating a movie. It's characters fall into super hero tropes like the Marvel movies and that's not why I read comics. Comics aren't like comic movies and I enjoyed having a movie universe relflect that.

How would it have continued? Considering Snyder has only made two or three good movies in his entire career (all of which were before 2010), I'm pretty sure any further DCEU movies would have been as equally terrible as the ones he did make.

Snyder, one of the most underrated, misunderstood, ahead of his time directors in modern filmmaking, who could not do his movie because of stupid reactions from stupid people and even more stupid reactions by producers themselves, a real shame we can not see the story he had planned

well, there was some "epic, grand, emotional, joyful" in Man Of Steel, parts of it mostly. In BvS that was all gone.. so I keep thinking why everyone's so convinced DCEU would have been epic with Snyder still on board.
