Gal Gadot will have a new "battle gear" costume in 'Wonder Woman 2'

The 2018 Licensing Expo kicked off this week in Las Vegas. We already saw the first official photo of Zachary Levi as Shazam thanks to a banner that's hanging up at the event, but there's some Wonder Woman 2 news as well.

At Warner Bros.' presentation, they showed some storyboard artwork which revealed a new costume for Wonder Woman. They also showed a small preview of what Kirsten Wiig will look like as the villain Cheetah.

According to Daniel Eliesen, who was in attendance for the WB presentation, Wonder Woman's new costume is described as "battle gear". It sounds like we can expect more armor than the costume Gal Gadot wore in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman, and Justice League.

Wonder Woman 2 starts shooting next month, it hits theaters on November 1, 2019.

    I don’t think it’ll be exactly like that, but I could see them doing something similar. I think she will definitely have the blue skin tight piece underneath as DC has shown to use this on more than one version of the character.

You see this is my problem with it being a prequel as why wasn't she wearing this new better armor during BvS or JL? Don't get me wrong i can't wait to see it but its stuff like this is why i wish it wasn't a prequel, they can't even have her finally fly either because again it raises the question as to why she wasn't doing that during BvS or JL.

    I want her flying, she's DC's and comic books leading woman so she should be flying like Supes does. I know Diana couldn't originally fly until much later but the end of the day Superman couldn't fly originally and people wouldn't want a SM film where he's just jumping around and only strong enough to stop a Locomotive.

        Superman is a joke that no new generation like him. It is better they remove him from the JL he sucks so hard that even Black Panther is more popular than him he is ridiculously overpowered and his films are lolzy because of it.

      She didn’t fly in the DCAU either, if I recall correctly. It is good to diversify the powerset. The makers of the DCAU knew that, and hopefully the the makers of the DCEU realize that as well.

        Flying has been a constant for Wonder Woman for the last 33 years. She's flown in the comics since 1985, she flies in the DCAU, she flies in the games, she just doesn's fly in the DC Failed Universe because Snyder wanted to keep Superman special

She obviously levitated while fighting Ares. I figure the plan is to keep Wonder Woman a little more grounded, and not as reliant on flight like Superman. But yes, fans should expect A LOT of Zack Snyder and David Ayer's creative decisions, to be undone, contradicted, retconned, or flat out ignored, going forward.

    That final shot was her jumping high and yeah she levitated but that was a symptom of her poorly explained powers in WW, she has yet to actually properly fly like Superman.

  I can imagine what is gonna happen, i think i figured it out, it will more than probable be something like this: Cheetah appears and Diana go fight her in a cocky/unprepared way, gets a lots of cuts on her whole body, so she decides to confront her with an armor, pretty straightforward

  She flew away in the very last shot of her movie. Wtf are you talking about? I think they portray it more as 'graceful large leaps' but this way it differentiates from superman's flying. But yeah, we've already seen her 'airborne'. A few times in JL too...

    She was jumping in that shot, we have yet to see fly and even Gal herself has referred to her jumping really high and not flying.

  First one is basically what we have now minus the helmet and for more stylish.
  The wings look impractical on the second one, especially since she can fly without them.

Of course she will, gotta sell that merchandise! Sometimes upgrading a costume is part of the story and makes sense a la bad ass bearded Captain America https://uploads.disquscdn.c... but most of the time it’s just to sell more toys.       I’ll never understand the hype for Ragnorok or how the God of Thunder first gets caught by an electric net and then gets controlled by an electric device?! You figure that lightning and electricity would be his domain but at least they got him right in IW, he finally found his groove there.

    Captain gave up his shield and he was incognito from CW. Him walking around with his helmet would be pretty dumb and counter productive to what he was trying to accomplish. He’s gonna have to wait until next year to get his shield back.

    First, the suit was more akin to Clooney's BF (never a good thing) than the BvS suit and second the goggles had absolutely no purpose in the film whatsoever, it screamed of cashgrab. The character in the movie was by far the worst part but that costume did not help either.

    I think he means why in JL they stated she disappeared because of what happened to Steve Trevor and then somehow she came back in the 80s. Patty Jenkins is a good storyteller so I'm not too concerned personally.

      JL said she always fought when she was needed, but from the shadows. The "walked away from mankind" line was reinterpreted as her choosing not to be a beacon like Superman was, but she never really left.

If the villain will be Cheetah, I do not think there are big changes in Diana's costume, it's probably an armor suit that protects her arms and legs more without leaving aside her skirt. I imagine something like this:

However, at the end of WW2, perhaps she desists to always wear that suit, claiming that "it is not very comfortable for fights." That being the case, it would be justified that Diana did not wear that supposed armor for BvS and JL.

You could explain why she wasnt wearing this battle armour in BvS or JL very easily. Have Diana have the armour on display with all the other artifacts shes collected. The armour could be visibly damaged from claw marks. Bruce could be there and ask why she never wore that yet in battle and that opens the door for Diana, to tell the tale of Wonder Woman 2.

Maybe she just wears something like a uniform, to keep her identity secret. If she was trying to do that until the BvS events then it doesn't make sense to wear a golden armor with wings. We wouldn't know anything until see find out more about the story.

If theres at least one thing the DCEU has gotten right its the Costume design, every costume has been so on point. Absolutely love the Kryptonian writing within the Superman S symbol. Such a simple yet true to the character idea.
Michael Wilkinson has done a terrific job so far, personally i'd have him design every DCEU costume.

Wonder Woman getting an armored costume upgrade is a good thing hinting at how powerful and deadly Cheetah is going to be. Ares was major letdown as a villain Also I hope she get power of flight or she make her own invisible Jet in the movie.
