Zack Snyder reflects on casting Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in 2013

On Monday Gal Gadot turned 33 years old, and to celebrate her birthday Zack Snyder shared a photo of a deleted Wonder Woman scene from Justice League. On Tuesday, Snyder must have still had Gadot on his mind because he took to Vero to reflect on the day he met her.

"This is the first day I met Gal and this is the first photo of her I took," Snyder captioned the photo above. "She didn't know it at the time but I had already decided she was my Wonder Woman."

Snyder shared a similar image of Gadot from that same photo shoot last summer after the roaring success of Wonder Woman.

When Gadot was announced as Wonder Woman back in December of 2013 she was met by a lot of negativity from fans. Now, most can't imagine anyone else in the role. After seeing her play the part three times now, do you like Gadot as Wonder Woman? Let me know in the comments below.

    The dude is allowed to feel sentimental about his work. It's nice whenever a director, writer, or actor shares their feelings or thoughts with us. No one would whine like this if Ridley Scott posted a picture of Sigourney Weaver from 1979 with a heartfelt quote about the time he cast her in Alien, and I would enjoy seeing that too.

      The scout ship that Clark found in MoS belonged to Kara. There’s a prequel canon comic where she had crash landed on Earth over 10,000 years ago, I think. I just know that she had arrived when man was primitive.

      Snyder’s Superman captured the heart and soul of Superman. He put the entire weight of the world on him, challenged him physically and spiritually, gave him the freedom to choose his own and yet his character never failed to be Superman. Snyder understood him. It’s sad that you don’t.

      MoS and BvS are as close to being adaptations of Birthright. The writer of that not being able to tell that is sad. Unless he’s saying that series failed at capturing Superman.

Not that I hold much stake in rumors, especially those that come from reddit, but there have been at least two that I can think of that state Snyder and his production company Cruel & Unusual Films are just going to go ahead and finish Justice League themselves since WB doesn't want or care to contribute any more money after it flopped. Per the DGA rules, Snyder has the right to finish JL if he so pleases as long as WB agrees to release it.
I think the rumor is BS, but given Snyder's increased activity and constant teases on vero of late (he's never been this active on social media in general), it's possible he's at least in negotiations/talks. Especially after Jim Lee confirmed that he wasn't actually "fired" from WB on JL.

  It's not that good. The hoopla surrounding it among the fan editing community made it sound like it was going to be the greatest fan cut ever and it was about as amateurish as any other JL fan cut that was already done.
  I get that fans can only do so much to fix the film given the lack of material that's out there, but still - jarring musical shifts from Elfman to Zimmer, out-of-place transitions to 2 second trailer shots, music volume overpowering dialogue, color correction issues and shifts between 1080p and 720p footage, etc. They also plagiarized from other fan editors' ideas without giving them credit, which is just a scummy thing to do.
  I applaud fans for trying, but if someone is going to do a fan cut of JL, they have to have professional editing experience. They just do. Because the final result is just as unwatchable as the original theatrical exhibition due to amateurish editing.

      So far, the only fan editor that I'm aware of who has been doing a consistently admirable job at recutting JL is this guy:

      One of the reasons is he seems to be the only one who doesn't blast the music to the point where it drowns out the sounds or dialogue. There's also a sense of rhythm and unity to his edits that make it feel fluid instead of jarring.
      Some of his color correction could use a little sprucing, but his cuts are still only a hair away from looking "professional" in comparison to the other people.
      He's also the guy whom most of the fan editors clearly emulate or plagiarize as his videos are some of the more popular of the JL recuts (his one JL fan edit of Superman vs. the league has 11 million views).

      You're telling me a studio will let you start filming, use most of the budget, and then throw away most of the things you filmed with their money just for fun? When it’s been proven that they interfered with him the entire time even after his daughter died. Watch the film and you can easily tell reshoots apart. From bad wigs to out of shape Ben to bad framing to Henry’s face to horrible dialogue. There’s only a handful of reshoots they were decent and those were whole scenes. Then the whole film got cropped into a different aspect ratio and the color got worse and worse since trailer 2. JL is bad because WB made it bad. Not Snyder, and not even Joss.
      And you can look at all the trailer snippets, leaked scenes and stills and tell that Snyder’s stuff was much better. Not liking BvS is one thing, but pretending like that film doesn’t look and sound great is straight retarded. And even an idiot can tell that Bruce Wayne/Batman has great character work throughout. Adam West’s Batman would’ve been better in JL than that shit they had Affleck do.

      Why do you think whedon was brought in to "change" the movie? Probably because the studio thought it would be as hated as bvs after the first screening they had, they didn't do it just because. Was it the right call? Maybe, maybe not, but there's clearly a reason for the drastic last minute change. At the end of the day, jl was better received than bvs, from critics and audience, they called it a step in the right direction.

“Now, most can’t imagine anyone else in the role”? Where did you ever get that ridiculous idea? Gadot is awful! She’s a lousy actress — who barely made a blip in any other role in her career — with a thin physique that doesn’t come close to the iconic physique of WW in the comics. Then again, what did we expect from Snyder, the same guy who cast Adams to play a red-headed, grumpy, frumpy much older anti-Lois? Both actresses are the complete opposite of their characters. I, like many, can’t wait until they reboot WW so Gadot will fade back into obscurity.
