on Ben Affleck will be at Fan Expo Dallas this Saturday, hopefully to answer Batman questions

Update: Less than 24 hours after this announcement, Ben Affleck's panel at Fan Expo Dallas has been canceled.

Fan Expo Dallas announced today that Batman v Superman and Justice League star Ben Affleck will be attending their event this weekend. Affleck is scheduled to appear on Saturday, April 7th for autographs, photo ops, and "Ben Affleck Live" where he will take the stage to talk about his career and hopefully answer some Batman questions.

Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill made headlines for charging fans $350 for an autograph and photo last year, but Affleck will be even more expensive. An autograph will cost you $250, a photo is another $250, or you can go for the $600 "Ultimate Ben Affleck Package" which includes an autograph, photo, and gold ticket to Ben Affleck Live.

This will be Affleck's first public fan appearance since Justice League and the rumors that Matt Reeves has met with Jake Gyllenhaal about starring in The Batman. Hopefully he can set the record straight on his future as the Dark Knight.

DALLAS (April 2, 2018) – Fan Expo Dallas – the largest comics, sci-fi, horror, anime and gaming event in Texas – has announced Ben Affleck will make a rare convention appearance at this year’s event at the Dallas Convention Center, April 6-8, 2018.

Affleck is known for his recurring role as Batman in recent DC films such as “Justice League,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Suicide Squad.” In addition to his role as billionaire Bruce Wayne, Affleck also starred in “Daredevil” as Matt Murdock. Other film credits include leading roles in “Chasing Amy,” and “Armageddon,” as well as directing the critically-acclaimed film “Argo.”

Affleck will greet fans, pose for photo ops (including a team up with his “Justice League” co-star Jason Momoa) and sign autographs during the star-studded event. Additionally, Fan Expo Dallas will offer a special ticketed Ben Affleck LIVE event happening Saturday, April 7 at 7 p.m. Tickets for Ben Affleck LIVE start from $25. Full details about the event can be found here.

Fans can also purchase the Ultimate Ben Affleck package which includes a gold ticket to the Ben Affleck LIVE event, an in-person autograph and a professional photo op with Affleck himself.

Affleck joins a celebrity roster at Fan Expo Dallas that includes Jeff Goldblum, Val Kilmer, Ben McKenzie, Morena Baccarin, Chuck Norris and many more.

"Here's how it works: Actors typically ask for a price guarantee — often paid up front — to show up, sign autographs, pose for photos and sometimes take part in a panel discussion or two. Most conventions
charge an entry fee, collect $5 for every autograph and $10 per photo (with a photographer taking another $10). The stars — who receive luxury travel and accommodations — pocket the rest. Anything over the guarantee is icing on the cake.

According to multiple sources familiar with convention deals, the basic guarantee rate for genre stars is in the $5,000 to $10,000 range per appearance — with leads on such current TV series as The Walking Dead, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Netflix's Marvel shows and The CW's DC Comics fare commanding anywhere from $35,000 to $250,000 and up, depending on their popularity and the frequency with which they appear. At top conventions, it's not uncommon for a star to earn anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 on top of their guarantee (more if they spend extra time signing).

The most sought-after stars include Reedus (one convention owner says he easily could command a $200,000 guarantee and pocket $500,000 per weekend), Andrew Lincoln (who donates his proceeds to charity), Star Wars great Mark Hamill and anyone who played Doctor Who. Sources say ex-Doctor Matt Smith collected $250,000 per weekend at a string of recent events, with any former Doctor said to easily score six figures.Smith's tally recently was doubled by Marvel film heroes, with the stars netting more than $500,000 each in one Atlanta weekend thanks to an overwhelming demand and rare convention appearances."

On a side note, I find it funny that the part about charging those crazy prices for photos and such is only brought up with DCEU actors when it has been common practice for these things since forever... I mean, even Mark Hamill and several Avengers actors did the same recently...

I don't condone this by any means, but c'mon, don't as if they were the only ones doing this (even Penny did it for that ape movie she did in Big Bang ;p)

Why are you here Ben? Are you hard up for cash or are you actually gonna step up and commit to being The Batman? I used to be so pro Ben Affleck but after all the wishy washy one foot in one foot out talk and awful Batman performance in JL, I only want to see him in the cowl again if he's gonna commit to working with Reeves. I really don't care about some rumored Flashpoint cameo at this point. It's either a true hardcore bad ass Batman or goodbye Ben!

    3) Most important, if an idiot is willing to pay that much for an autograph, wouldn't you charge him?

exactly, it's basic economics. people act like everything is suppose to be free just because they make a lot of money doing other things. comic cons have become really big in recent years and stars are cashing in. yea it would be nice if they were cheaper or free but they don't owe anyone anything.

I would think it would be enough for him to want to continue, just because of the fact that he beat the odds. No one gave him as Batman Bruce Wayne a chance, and yet the majority still want him, loved him as Batman, however, I can't blame him for being deflated from the shitty reviews that BvS and JL got. I bet if those movies did much better (with the critics and fans that didn't like them) then this concern would not even be happening. I blame WB for all that noise. His personal problems are his business. I am not in favor of the bad personal choices he has made, but I still like his work as Batman.

At this point (and this could be totally wrong) it seems like there's two roads that his last contract movie could lead to. Flashpoint and he's done completely after, or The Batman and a possible new contract.

I just don't see The Batman as a real possibility. Matt Reeves has expressed interest in a trilogy and I don't think Affleck wants to be Batman for another 10 years.

          3. Drake Grayson Avatar
            Drake Graysonreplying to Chris

Is there any chance the slowness to finish a script and shoot has to do with a possible LotR style filming the whole trilogy at once to save money, time, and perhaps get Affleck(or actor Reeves wants) to bang it out all at once?... This way said actor can make other pursuits after instead of between films and WB gets to constantly collect money every year off the bat brand. I don’t believe Reeves is like Nolan in his desire to use WB trilogy contract to bang out his own passion projects in between and phone it in terribly bad on the last installment because he clearly didn’t care anymore.
I honestly feel like if they did that with JL, a 2 part movie with that same budget spread out over two films would have generated $1.3 billion (if each film made what JL made) in the double release 6 months apart and would have been just fine for the brand. Just a thought...

          6. Mark Avatar
            Markreplying to UltimateEdition

Very true... but LOTR had a built-in worldwide audience that had been waiting for decades to see a live-action trilogy. Those books were literally the foundation of fantasy nerddom. Reeves's take on Batman is yet to be proven and this isn't 1989 where we'd been waiting for decades for a serious take on the character.

On the plus side, it's unlikely that Reeves' production will have time travelers showing up to get one of the actors to read spurious "rewrites". :)

          7. Mark Avatar
            Markreplying to Mark

Also: Ben Affleck has a certain percentage of baggage himself: people who think he mistreated Jen Garner, or are Yankees fans or Patriots haters.

          8. UltimateEdition Avatar
            UltimateEditionreplying to Mark

you could argue the same for Batman... I was never exposed to the books as a child so when I saw the first preview for lord of the rings I already was wayyy more familiar with Batman. and just because there is an established history with a propert doesn’t guarantee that the movie will be a success... see Enders Game, Blade Runner (albeit in movie form than book), John Carter, Valerian, Dune, etc.

          9. Drake Grayson Avatar
            Drake Graysonreplying to UltimateEdition

Exactly. And while I’m not the biggest fan of Reeves’ films, it is worth noting that each project he’s done has either improved or tied with his previous work on RT scoring and money made.... And if Batman isn’t a proven commodity, I don’t know what is.... Of course WB execs meddling and chasing toy money, happy meals and Marvel can fuck anything up. But I have a feeling Reeves has total control, because he’s earned it and probably only signed on for trilogy if they gave it to him.
