'Shazam' director came up with the logo design himself

Earlier today, Warner Bros. released the first poster for Shazam which gave us a look at the movie's logo. Director David Sandberg took to Twitter to reveal that he came up with the logo's design and used it in his presentations to Warner Bros.. "Shablam!" his logo said, and it's been his Twitter header photo for a while now.

"Months ago I made a logo myself in Blender to use for presentations and stuff," Sandberg explained. "They wound up basing the official logo on that. I guess my presentation made quite an impression. I had no idea my Twitter banner would end up a spoiler."

Sandberg's "Shablam" logo is above, and the official Shazam logo is below. As you can see, they are very similar. Which makes sense since Warner Bros. used Sandberg's design as a starting point.

I'm so curious as to how Billy will transform indoors and the "physics" behind it. Hopefully kids watch this and love it the way I grew up loving the comics, its genuinely a great character.

  CW is the best network for series so that is a weird comment. And Legends of Tomorrow is a great show, superhero comedy done right. Shazam would be lucky to turn out as well.

    Legends of Tomorrow is essentially all parody, no story. I don't want a bunch of CW "will they or won't they" drama in my Shazam movie, thank you very much.

  Most superhero logos look generic and cheap. "The Flash," "Spider-Man Homecoming," "Doctor Strange," "Thor Ragnarok," "Arrow." They look the way they do because they're basically emulating comicbooks with their bright text, bold letters and weird fonts. I've never seen a comicbook logo that looked unique and expensive.
  Besides, MoS and BvS both had better looking logos, and that meant nothing for how it was received.

  DCEU under Snyder has problems. But this logo is not the indication of the right answer. This is too CW. I need epic middle ground that is fun and awesome, yet still epic and grand. Give me something with the scope and feel of WW please!!

Can't wait for this movie, but the logo is like Photoshop 101 with combo bevel and 3d filter applied. I can see crop lines on the right side of the M. They really should have cleaned this up more. Shazam is known as the Big Red Cheese so maybe they went with a cheesy logo?

  Noticed the crop line as well. That bugs me more than the actual logo itself. I don't mind the bold letters and basic design, but when you have a cloud with a very clear slice at the bottom... that irks me.

We need epic middle ground that is fun and awesome, yet still epic and grand. Give me something with the scope and feel of WW please! I know this is early to say this, but if the logo is the indicator, than we might have gone too far off into the deep end.

Hope this logo doesn't make movie fans of all ages think SHAZAM! Is a Saturday morning kiddie cartoon movie! Maybe add a corner picture of the Marvel Family and in the other corner a picture of the Billy Batson family.
