'Shazam' teaser poster revealed ahead of live Q&A cast event

Entertainment Weekly just provided us with the first look at the Shazam movie logo. The magazine is on the set this week and will be streaming a live Q&A with the cast tomorrow on Facebook.

Warner Bros. released the first Shazam teaser poster too, which you can check out in hi-res above. They also launched official Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts for Shazam today.

I have a feeling EW will be premiering the first official look at Zachary Levi as Shazam soon too, possibly this week to go along with their big set visit. Stay tuned to Batman News for more details as we get them.

Shazam is currently filming in Toronto. It hits theaters on April 5, 2019.

I'm not thrilled for this at all. It's a shame Shazam gets a debut film before Cyborg and Flash. This logo looks like something the CW created. It's quite bland.

      But it had a cast, writers and a director before those movies you mentioned. Plus the idea of it, is more appealing and fresh than those two for now. People need to forget about JL before making a Cyborg or Flash movies. I bet a high percentage of them didn’t even like them in those movies. Either make it outside of the DCEU or it’s not gonna work.

        Cyborg is known yeah but he's never a favorite, people are still pissed he's part of the JL. Thing is Cyborg is a supporting character and not a lead, i love the character but most of his solo stuff is shit and his best stuff usually involves the Titans or JL. Also the big live action version of him got stuck with awful CGI and a bad film, if people don't the DCEU Batman why would they warm to the "boring" CGI character who looks like "tin foil scrunched up" to quote Honest Trailer. Shazam on the other hand is free of the DCEU trappings even if its part of it and will appeal greatly to kids.

        WB didn't interfere with MoS or BvS, they were the films Snyder wanted to make. Yeah BvS was cut but a 3 hour 250million R-Rated film starring both Batman and Superman would have bombed harder then JL, Snyder should have realized that.

        batman easter eggs in MoS? You mean like that one part with the satellite? Im pretty sure most people didn't even notice that the first time around. Also "forced to hack BvS to death" is dramatic. He had a three hour cut and had to shave off 30 minutes. 3 hours is a long ass movie. What happened here was fairly standard procedure. As I have said about a hundred times here, most studios would not a 3 hour theatrical release for a film like this unless you are a particular director like Nolan or Peter Jackson who has been given various liberties due to their track record

        Snyder was forced to make BvS yeah i agree but he was allowed to make it the way he did and was giving all the money and freedom to do so. Yeah it had to be cut and i don't blame WB for that because a 250 million R-Rated 3 hour Batman and Superman film would have gone down like a lead balloon and made less money then JL, jesus only an idiot would think that would be a huge hit and make a fuck ton of money. The film though was all Snyder, he had to use Batman and he had to have them fight but it was up to him on how he used them and how he done the film and why the fight happens.
        As for being a "hater" well sorry mate but i actually like a great deal of Snyder's work, really disliking one films of his doesn't make me a hater, actually it makes me in line with the vast majority of people who have watched it.

    It's an acquired taste. I like it a lot (despite some very dated '80s-style dialogue (e.g., over-explaining everything)). Artwork by Tom Mandrake is very expressionistic.
    A lot of people complained about it, saying it was too dark. I personally think it was an accurate updating of the Dickensian roots of the characters (an aspect that most fans conveniently like to forget).
    DC just re-released it as a hardcover Deluxe Edition. Pretty bare bones but nice production values on the printing.

        Did you ever see the sample pages that John Byrne did for a Shazam reboot he was going to do circa 1991 (after The New Beginning, before the Jerry Ordway version)? He only drew two pages plus two sample drawings of his slight redesign of Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel. It looked amazing.
        (He backed out at the last minute. It was supposed to be an out-of-continuity series but DC changed their mind and Byrne didn't feel like making it align with then-current continuity.)

I'm being cautiously optimistic about this film because I like its cast SO much (same with almost all the other dc movies!) so let's hope they don't disappoint us! SHAZAM! :P

It just feels very...cheap, just like everything I've seen of this film so far. Run of the mill Photoshop typography. Someone below said it looks like an ad for a CW DC show and I have to agree.

I am being optimistic, and like all films it relies in the writing and director. I have my worries, because everything I have seen so far, all the movie shots, seem like the production values are a bit ...cheesy. The other thing that worries me a bit is that they are using the New 52 comics version where Shazam is still Billy Batson inside an adult body, instead of the older versions where they are kind of two split personalities, the kid and the adult. I hope we don't get a campy flop, that is all.

  I think they're trying to mix the best of both versions. Billy isn't going to be an immature little brat. He'll be more mature for his age and a nice kid. All while being a happier movie.

        Oh that was the BEST! It was the perfect short story of telling the Shazam story and then giving us a perfect team-up with Billy's mentor. If we get anything like this, I would be happy.

      Captain Marvel got the "kid's mind in an adult body" treatment way back in the Giffen & DeMatteis JLI in the 80's, right after Crisis. I think it's DC's way of making him more different from Superman. New 52 just made Billy an A-hole. Anyway, going by the audition video that was leaked (some guy didn't read the instructions about password-protecting it on Vimeo), they're really leaning into the "kid's mind" thing, and that's probably a big reason Zach Levi got the part. I can't imagine John Cena pulling that off.

        Agree, it is why they changed him after the 70's run. They have always had a problem with CM/Shazam because at one point he was doing better in sales than their star Superman. DC couldn't have that, which is why he kind of disappeared and came back now and again.
        Interesting about the leaked audition video. I figured the "kids mind" was their angle. It just can't be another Wrinkle In Time movie where they tried to make it both a movie for kids and adults, and from the reviews I read, succeed at turning away both.

Just read that WB is re-booting The Matrix, which is the best news ive read in a long time. They (WB) are really doing some great things. So why, with a franchise like DC, do i get the feeling they are not taking it with the care and importance it should be taking it with? Shazam is not going to be part of any DCEU, if that even exists anymore. Cuz we dont know shit about that subject.
Maybe im looking forward to Shazam but i just wish WB would place a little more emphasis on the DC franchise knowing they are doing such great work on other properties.

      I am seeing the opposite. Almost every article/post about the movie states it is in the DCEU. I can't find anything that says it is not. I swear the director posted a tweet stating that it was inside the DCEU, but I can't seem to find it anymore. There is also rumors that Cavill's Superman will make a cameo at the end of the film.

    It's been a while but if I recall there were six chosen ones right? And Neo was the last the one. What's your opinion if they make a movie set with the one that was before Neo? Maybe the first chosen one. The ending is obvious I guess since they all failed at the end except for Neo. Though, I thought it would be cool to explore that option. Mr. Smith turned down the role for Neo but maybe now he will probably want to give it a chance and be the one.

      Well all the chosen ones were Neo, you even see footage of the past "Neo's" in Reloaded in that very confusing scene. Basically they all chose to reboot it all again and again but are Neo didn't because he had one thing they didn't and that was his love for Trinity what made him choose to save her rather then reboot the system yet again, the Oracle reveals in the final film that she took a gamble and influenced events so Neo and Trinity would fall in love so at that moment Neo would have to make a choice, she wanted a fresh start rather then just yet another reboot with a new Matrix. It was quite a gamble especially as Smith grew to be way too powerful then what he should have been as he gained Neo's power plus his virus abilities.
      Honestly i don't see how they can expand it beyond fan theories like the "real world" scenes being yet another layer of The Matrix (the theory has weight as well). A prequel wouldn't add much as we know what happened in those versions and most of it played out similar to the events of the films up to the bit he visits the The Architect in Reloaded, the only real difference is that those Neo's were free of love for Trinity.

        Thanks for the informative response. I guess you're right about the prequels sort of being the same. I thought they could explore different routes in the movie but the ending we would already know. I thought it could kind of be like the telltale games. Multiple play throughs you sort of play the same game but different choices lead you a bit somewhere else. I just thought it would be cool to explore the Matrix world with another The One.
        In the archetype room scene I'm pretty sure all the Neo's on the monitors were Neo's possible responses. I don't think all the The Ones looked the same. I think it's more like Avatar the Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Being reincarnated.
        A continuation of the Matrix trilogy is probably possible. I think it can work if they follow the Legend of Korra being the new Avatar. We can see a new The One.
        It would also be cool to see more of Mr. Reeves as The One but I think Neo died in the last movie.

        I think the Wochowskis lost their way after the first one. Its understandable, after giving us something nobody has ever seen before. Hard to follow that up.
        I do think that with a writer who appreciates the series and story about the 'next one' starring a female would be very welcomed.

  It is suppose to look like this post-production, lightning bold, bracers and boots all have glowing effects. I also think they will tone down the colors of the suit and deepen them like these pictures.

All they can do is focus on standalones for a while, and then take a swing at making them team up in a cohesive cinematic universe again in the now far off and no longer a direct sequel Justice League 2.
I wish it hadn't come to this, but what can you expect from WB at this point?
