on Zack Snyder reveals 'Batman v Superman' easter egg for the canceled 'Justice League: Part 2'

While Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. were making Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the plan was to release a two-part Justice League movie as a follow up. Those plans changed after the negative reaction to Batman v Superman and Justice League was restructured as one movie. But now Zack Snyder has revealed a Batman v Superman easter egg that would have made more sense after we saw Justice League: Part Two.

A fan on Vero posted the Batman v Superman photo above and said that he never noticed the crosses in the background before. Zack Snyder replied and said, "that's a reference to Justice League 2". He then added "until it wasn't," likely referring to the movie's cancellation.

In October 2014, Warner Bros. announced Justice League: Part One for November 17, 2017 and Justice League: Part Two for June 14, 2019. Maybe someday Snyder will reveal what that easter egg in Batman v Superman was referring to in Justice League: Part Two. For now, feel free to speculate in the comments below.

So even his 3 hour cut was hacked to death by WB? Cause I watched the extended cut, the movie is still awful. so he need 4 hours to tell a story? he is aware most movies are around the 2 hour mark right? If the DC universe survives the damage he inflicted it'll be a miracle.

I will say those weight are probably not the equivalent to what you put on there and what they look like in that picture and in the film. He probably could squat that much in real life at that time, but WB wouldn’t risk him injuring himself on set and having to be responsible for that injury.

Only pointing that out before some troll does. Again, he probably could have done that in real life. He was freaking jacked for BVS. I wish he would have kept that shape longer for Justice League. We all know (or at least us who have read reports about his personal life) that he has an alcohol problem or did and I think he was drinking and not going to the gym as JL got further into production. It’s kind of weird how there are some Snyder shots like especially the shot of him in the knightcrawler where he says “My Turn!” where he looks a little chubby but then in the reshoot of that scene when he instead says “I didn’t bring a sword!” He looks thinner. Or maybe they made a bigger cowl. That cowl in the my turn shot that we didn’t get in the theatrical cut looked tight on him as well.

Either way, if he only plays Batman one more time I hope he gives it as much effort as he did in BVS. He did ok in JL but some parts looked like he was phoning it in or just not having a good time. He still is my favorite Batman and it sucks if we don’t get him in solo movies because the potential is there for great movies with him and reeves and I am sure they would be able to cast very good actors. Who wouldn’t want to be in any Batman film? It’s like after Batman ‘89 came out all the celebrities and stars wanted to be a part of the franchise. After Nolan’s movies got the bad taste from the Schumacher movies out of the public’s mouths and how great the trilogy was big name actors and actresses will be wanting all the parts. Look at Anne Hathaway for instance. She doesn’t even care that she was Catwoman in Dark Knight Rises she still wants to be Catwoman in this universe as well lol. Of course we know that the $$$ helps as well.

Exactly what I found out just now. I wonder why it hasn’t been updated. It even says in the I guess “about section of the studio” that BVS was going to come out in May of 2016 which we all know ended up being pushed up to March because of Civil War trying to release on the same day in May.

So, I don’t think it’s because of any ill-will obviously. Unless Snyder time traveled to the future and already knew he was going to be removed from JL.

It's clear as day now that Snyder is bitter as hell at WB and he isn't even trying to hide it at this point.

This is why we'll never see the Zack Snyder cut of JL. Snyder won't forgive or forget any time soon and WB will never mend a bridge already broken.

Also for the record: Snyder doesn't "count" JL as his film in his company's filmography. http://www.cruelfilms.com/p...

  12. C. Avatar

I wonder if Snyder should have just film all the three parts BvS JL1 and JL2 at once and then make the cuts that way we would have gotten a better story if the next part was coming in a few months as opposed to years, cos even for someone who didn't like BvS that's was just 1/3 of the story. I'm not counting JL1 as part of the set cos all the changes made by WB.

Pretty sure Superman wasn’t supposed to be resurrected until JL part 2. It would’ve made a lot more sense to have the league lose and falter only to have Supes come in during part 2 to save the day. It would’ve made the “death” more meaningful and his return that much more heroic. Not saying Snyder is perfect by any means, but that plot line seems like a MUCH better idea.

Nah. Even before BvS took a critical thrashing, Cavill was still preparing and contracted to appear in JL Part One.

Pretty sure the original plan more likely revolved around Superman being resurrected by Steppenwolf and serving as an antagonist against the League akin to the Knightmare sequence we saw in BvS.

      1. kan Avatar
        kan

You have it correct. In Snyder's version, purportedly by all the mythological Snyder cut cultists, Steppenwolf was going to resurrect Superman to serve Darkseid, so the JL team knew they had to raise him from the dead before that happened. The JL2 with Darkseid fully in play was scrapped early in production.

      2. SBHM Avatar
        SBHM

Maybe. Although I believe it was exactly that, a nightmare sequence. Not something that actually takes place. But we will likely never know!

        1. DudeofSteel1Million Avatar
          DudeofSteel1Million

It wasn't a "nightmare" though - it was a glimpse of the future that we saw Flash come back to try to undo. And we already know that even AFTER the "Part II" of JL was erased, Snyder already inserted quite a few callbacks to the Knightmare sequence in the form of Cyborg seeing the same horrific future Bruce saw and the very fact that even structurally, history seemed about to repeat itself when Superman came back confused and volatile and only Lois could calm him down.

        1. DudeofSteel1Million Avatar

I saw - and it makes perfect sense why. In many ways, both Snyder's Superman and Miller & Gough's Clark share many similarities in tone, structure and end-goals: BOTH versions portray a Clark who seemingly strays from the traditional Superman by way of tone and personality and both versions showcase the "journey" of Clark becoming Superman in a long-winded way. The DIFFERENCE lies in the execution.

Whereas Smallville treated the suit and the persona of Superman to be the "end" of the journey and that every bit of Clark's trials and tribulations where he'd face his inner demons and overcome his turmoils would take place pre-suit up, Snyder treated the suit and persona of Superman to be the BEGINNING and that becoming Superman wouldn't stop at the cape, but would be an ongoing "learn on the job" experience before we'd see the Superman we all know and love.

That's why I like Snyder's take better - because it handled the journey by focusing on the person within the suit whereas Smallville focused ON the suit itself so-to-speak with the outside-world knowledge of what it represented. In other words, Smallville = The suit is the golden trophy at the end of the road and MOS/BvS/JL = the person is suiting up in proper attire to begin his permanent job.

True. Even in Season 1, they were alluding to where Clark's and Lex's paths would lead them to.

Man, I wish WB had had let him and Terrio continue with their story. I truly believe that JL 1 & 2 would've turned things around for the better. Instead, WB got too nervous and ended up blowing their own foot off.

I’m pretty certain that had JL remained a two part sequence, Superman would have not come back until the second movie. The way he was resurrected in JL was just boring and watered down. The event could have had so much more build up and story behind it. I respect all those who’ve disliked Zach’s work, but I firmly believe WB screwed the pooch in not allowing him to complete his vision. Instead, we got a JL that seemed rushed, out of sorts, and campy. I never thought I’d say this, but my excitement and interest in the DCEU has waned tremendously after watching JL. I imagine the haters will come out rank and file once Reeves releases his first installment of the new Batman trilogy. Anybody who’s paid attention can see that his Apes trillogy had a certain tone to it that was way too easy for the general movie going audience to dismiss and lose interest. However, the Apes movies were brilliant and told a very good story. I imagine hell do something similar in tone with Batman. It won’t be enough to please all the fanboys and girls, nor the Marvel leaning camp for that matter.
