Joker origin movie will portray him as a failed comedian, like The Killing Joke

According to The Wrap, the upcoming Joker origin movie will feature a backstory that will be familiar to fans of "The Killing Joke" graphic novel. In the movie, which takes place in the 1980s, The Joker will be a failed comedian.

The Joker origin movie is being directed by The Hangover Trilogy's Todd Phillips and produced by the legendary Martin Scorsese. Phillips is also writing the movie along with 8 Mile writer Scott Silver. The Wrap says production could start in the middle to end of this year, depending on how the script rewrites go. Joaquin Phoenix is currently in talks to star as The Joker, though he played coy when asked about it recently.

I'm indifferent. I'm not the worlds biggest Joker fan, I know his place in Batman lore but other than that... nothing. I need more information in order to have an opinion either way.

  I can see her as Minerva with ease but i can't see her as Cheetah just yet, still she's a great actress and i trust Patty's judgement so i'm fine with this.

    She's very talented, and she'd got that catlike physique. I can see her as Cheetah. Comedians are known for some of the best dramatic performances, like Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting. I'm not worried. I only hope Patty retains the same tone as the first film (struck the perfect balance IMO) while giving Cheetah a proper arc She also has to amp up the action (aside form No Man's Land, WW wasn't that great in that department).

The more this Joker origin thing sinks in, the less I want it. I’d love a Joker-centric movie, withouta doubt, but his lack of canon origin is a realy cool and rare thing.
