Emma Stone passes on 'Wonder Woman 2' villain role

With Wonder Woman 2 set to begin production this summer, official casting news should be rolling in soon.

The latest rumor comes from That Hashtag Show and says that Oscar-winner Emma Stone was offered the role of Cheetah, a Wonder Woman villain. The Wrap reporter Umberto Gonzalez backed up the news about Emma Stone being offered a Wonder Woman 2 villain, but couldn't confirm if it was indeed for Cheetah.

Many DC fans were hoping that Emma Stone would join the DCEU as Batgirl, which just lost its writer and director Joss Whedon.         But when it comes to film-critics who are well educated, trained, intelligent professionals with at least a University Bachelor Degree in film-studies, journalism or cinematography (which is the requirement to be a Professional Film Critic btw), whose (side) job is to critique films, they get completely ignored by BvS fans is because why?
        Don't get me wrong but I like BvS, strictly because of Batfleck and only Batfleck, but it's such a bad film. Reminds me of The Room, it's so bad that I like it.
        I like you NinjaGamer guy for your passion of love towards BvS, I can respect that. But I also hope that one day you'll see the lense through my somewhat-but-a-bit-below professional perspective.

But, I saw BvS once, and I'm comfortable with thinking it was inoffensively atrocious, and I will never have the inclination to "give it another try," but can you describe the response that it elicited for you? I'm only genuinely curious. Don't know if this is treading well-trod ground, but you seem to have a wide capacity to talk about it.

For all I care, you can think it's the greatest movie ever. I have no qualms about that. I do take issue with your constant "Snyder is our Lord and bullshit... DCEU doesn't need rescuing... BvS was a masterpiece, and if you don't think that then you clearly are biased..." These type of comments are meant to incite anger and confrontation, and I believe you're aware of that.     End of the day i use the comic con argument, San Diego aside what see's everything most people actually don't cosplay as anyone from the DCEU whose not Wonder Woman, Harley and Joker. I go to around 4 comic cons per year and the only time i saw Batfleck was before the film, as for Cavil well i've never seen someone there as him. As for Nolan's Trilogy well everyone i've been too i've seen countless Bale's Batman, Ledger's Joker and Bane's and Scarecrow sometimes, to think 2 years on BvS pop culture influence is more or less gone apart from memes and gifs where's 10 years on i still see T-Shirts and posters of Ledger's Joker and Bale's Batman (typing this i'm currently wearing a Bale Batman T-Shirt i got last year in a super market). You may love BvS but The Dark Knight will always be the one remembered and talked about for decades to come.

People had no issues with how his plans always seemed to work without a hitch and even his backup plans have backup plans, but Lex?         No, popular opinion among critics for BvS is that it’s a terrible movie. And I actually am not afraid to acknowledge its genuine flaws (the Darkseid and Flash stuff added to the Knightmare Scene, lack of backstory and build up of Doomsday and showing Lex’s descent into madness and resorting to creating him, etc.)
        I also will admit that, while I did not like Suicide Squad, there were some things in it that WERE good. And that, while I love The Dark Knight, no movie is perfect.

        The Darkseid, Flash, and Doomsday criticisms are all things that would have made perfect sense if JL got to be the movie it was supposed to be.
        I don't know why people consider allusions, teases, and cliffhangers to be plot holes in an inter-connected series of films.

        Because if they don't amount to enriching the current movies narrative then they make a movie worse than it otherwise would have been. Easter eggs are one thing.. entire scenes which make no sense without another movie to come are another. Legend has explained this on this site countless times to people much like Ninjafanboy and yourself. Ninja gamer would have us believe though that he thinks the movie is trash because it's unpopular. But what's more likely? That's there's a conspiracy to trash D.C. Films and Snyder despite him making films "on par" with TDK, or that Snyder is an absolutely stunning visualist, from storyboard to cinema, but is a consistently mediocre storyteller and all of his films bear this pattern, over and over again,except for Watchmen which was essentially a comic book brought to life, story and all, except a different ending, so he didn't have to do much narrative or character enriching heavy lifting.

        I simply disagree that the unnecessary makes a movie bad. That's going to be a fundamental thing that you won't convince me on. Call it a personal preference if you like, but I don't find it to be a compelling negative point -- particularly because every single thing about those scenes was completely relevant to what was going on in BvS anyway.
        It plays into Bruce's paranoid, depressed state and expresses something reflective about that to us in a dramatic way, which I deeply enjoy as a storytelling device. I'm sad that so many people were unable to appreciate it like I did.
        The film is also about the emergence of metahumans and what Bruce is going to choose to do about that, so it feels appropriate to have Flash appear to him, leaving him bewildered in the midst of his quest. In this way and for the reason above it, I would argue it does enrich the current movie while simultaneously spurring interest in what's to come.
        My view of movies doesn't line up with the subjective requirements that are demanded from others here. Nothing is honestly "necessary". Entertainment movies are meant to be imaginative experiences, not strict, soulless essays flatly reciting facts to a classroom. What's the point of going to a theater to see the latter? So, yeah; I love the unnecessary. I love being left with questions to ponder, and to be teased about things I'll get more of later. It's juicy fun.
        These are not stand-alone movies, they're a universe, so it's perfectly understandable there would be tie-in moments that set up the next story, and so on. The teases are so brief in the bigger picture of a 3 hour movie that I don't see how it detracts as dramatically as is often insisted.
        Oppositely, if Darkseid showed up with no foreshadowing because some cranky fans whimsically decided that each movie in a shared universe must be it's own independent bubble with no dangling threads, people would complain that Darkseid was random and they should have spent time teasing him in earlier films to get us built up, a la Thanos (whose presence is not just relegated to after-credits scenes, and I don't think it should be like that in his case or in Darkseid's). :P

        Ninja may have suggested that, but I've spoken with Legend enough to see that while he does indeed use popularity as a measure of quality (which I also find to be fundamentally flawed, but that's something I won't convince him of either), he's also very passionate and has formed his own personal opinions based on his preferences, which is perfectly fair even if we disagree.
        There was a window of time here where most people could talk through disagreements and either move on, or reconcile a mistake with humility. I made a pretty cool friend over the Martha scene everyone makes fun of. ;P
        Here's something that may surprise you: I actually don't think Zack did as great of a job as he could have adapting Watchmen's story. A lot of the point of the story felt missing, along with a lot of important character shaping, and these things were replaced with extra gore, additional fighting, and more sex (not that this choice is above Alan Moore's tendencies as a writer or anything haha).
        I felt it needed to be two movies (or a mini-series on TV) to cover the ground it needed to, but I forgave the shortcomings as a presumed mandate from an understandably nervous WB in a brave position of experimentation to limit their gamble to one very smushed-in movie with extra action and less preaching and exposition to help get more butts in seats. Maybe it wasn't all Zack's fault.
        Despite excusing my gripes in that way, I still found myself concerned that Superman was in the wrong hands because Zack at the time to me appeared to be the kind of guy that wanted everything juiced up and full of excess shock value gore and sex. Man of Steel proved me wrong (big time), and I've softened on my original narrow-minded view of 300 and Watchmen since.
        Long story short: I liked Watchmen, but it wasn't perfect. I don't think Snyder can do no wrong; rather, I just thought he did fine in the cases of MoS and BvS, and that people are being over-dramatic about nitpicks to the point that they've not only completely brushed off all the good things about the movies to focus on negative whines, which is just sad... but they live in a state of hawking forums and bullying others for enjoying a movie by their own standards -- and for two years.
        That's a little ridiculous, yes? Certainly don't think Batman or Superman would be impressed with that kind of behavior. :P
        Not that I'm calling everyone I disagree with a troll, of course, but you can't go anywhere on the net and like these movies without being bombarded with insults and shaming. Trolls and bullies are very much a presence. It's rare to have a fair discussion now.

        The BvS problems run a lot deeper than plot holes. There's the editing, which is completely rubbish. The acting from Isenberg (manic and cringy) and Cavill (wooden), the CGI (Doomsday looks so bad), the endless biblical symbolism than is so contrived and never hitting the mark. Of course, I don't expect you to agree.
        As for the narrative, everything is just ridiculous:
        -What is Diana even doing there? She deserted humanity during its most difficult periods, but came back because... Lex had a picture of her? (Where did he get that picture? And how did she know he had it?) Never mind her Bond-girl like character development and that stupid line about leaving humanity, nor "Is she with you?" line, never mind Batman emailed her like ten minutes ago. Speaking of that email - pure forced universe setup and was introduced in a laughable non-organic way (Lex designed their logos...? The fuck?)
        -Batman and Superman's conflict was ridiculous and childish, never transcending beyond misunderstandings and false preconceptions.The resolution of said conflict has become a pop culture joke, and justifiably so. There's just no defending the Martha scene.
        -Characterizations are so off, it's criminal. Those "heroes" have nothing to do with the superheroes we know and love. Movie supposedly targeting families and kids, but was so dark and dour, with unlikable, mischaracterized characters.
        And then the plot holes and inconsistency in, frankly, the most amateurish storytelling I have ever encountered. Everyone knows everyone's secret identity. How? Not important, apparently. Lex breeding a ninja turtle in an unsupervised wrecked space craft in the heart of the city. The Africa storyline was confusing, boring, and irrelevant. I can go on and on and on, and tear this movie apart, but if you haven't been convinced how poorly-made this film is by now, you never will. And that's okay. As long as you understand that this movie has essentially spelled the end for the DCEU.

      Well that depends on the viewer. And I've seen people say the acting was wooden, mostly that criticism was thrown at Cavill, but I've seen even people who loathe BvS praise the acting from Affleck and Irons.

      When you say the Joker was backed by the mob and had their resources and informants, are you implying that Lex in BvS... wasn't connected in powerful ways?
      He basically has the US Government wrapped around his pinky and can get anything he wants. This was just as stated and demonstrated as the Joker's connections in TDK. He was incredibly egotistical about flaunting it, too (Granny's Peach Tea, Jolly Rancher, etc).

        That's why I phrased it as a question. I was guessing you might be drawing a comparison between the Joker as a believable mastermind versus Lex, who is commonly criticized to be poorly developed as one. The whole stage of this discussion is TDK vs BvS, after all, so forgive me.
        It looks like you weren't intending to imply what I asked at first, but we find ourselves discussing it anyway. :P haha
        The presence of piss on her desk was a personal taunt, but also a clue for her to know something was up. That alone wasn't what alerted her to the threat - and, in fact, I doubt she knew it had anything to do with the wheelchair, or even that it was necessarily a bomb. You're making it seem more outlandish than it really was.
        She simply saw his seat was empty and knew the kind of manipulative monster Lex is, especially after witnessing his sociopathic, egotistical, bottled rage tweak-out when she told him she was blocking his import license for the Kryptonite. And right before she walks into the room, he antagonizes her with, "You are gonna be on the hot seat (wink) in there!" followed by a very grimly stated philosophical musing about power being innately corrupt.
        So, gathering all the clear context clues with a little intuition, yeah, I'd be nervous too. She's a smart gal.
        It was something Lex didn't want to be in the room for, and that's plenty to be afraid of when you know the kind of person Lex is bubbling underneath the surface as Finch had glimpsed. Unfortunately, she was right, but it was too late.

Superman, an inspirational Superhero with a strong sense of morals, was relegated to being a "beacon of mope", letting his father die in a tornado, always questioning his calling, scowling for 70% of his screen time. Batman transformed into a sadistic drunken murderer. Wonder Woman has abandoned humanity for 100 years because "men made the world impossible for her to live in..." Lol.
    Snyder's gritty and bitter take on these characters has destroyed them, alienating movie-goers and critics alike. Remember, this was meant to be a movie targeting families and little children. Kids who look up to these characters. What a calamity...

I really hope Wonder Woman 2 showcases more of Dianas powers and abilities as she seemed to take a step back in that sense in Justice League. I'm not overly familiar with her Rogues but have heard of Cheetah, is she a good villain? Can she hold her own against Diana? I Want Patty to swing for the fences with the sequel. Give a good but unknown actress the villain role would be my vote.

What really bums me out is that the script supposedly takes place during the cold war, and that means that Diana's powers won't be evolving. And that's a shame, since she's so underpowered in this universe.

Far and away the best choice for Batgirl. But I think she’s too busy to do it. And it could easily be another fake DC rumor.
Speaking of which, time out for Batgirl detective work: it’s really weird how people continue to say that Batgirl is high on the list of DC movies to go into production. There’s no director or writer. Joss admitted he had no story, so there’s no story. There’s no actress. There’s no way Batgirl is anywhere near to going into production.
The Hollywood Reporter printed a lie. Somebody leaked Chantal Nong’s promotion and included the lie that Batgirl was a hot project at DC, and the Hollywood Reporter printed it, and the internet accepted it as truth. Who would tell such a lie? Somebody did that.

  These videos are false, and this is coming from someone who likes the movie.
  I don't give a rat's ass what kind of symbolism or "deconstruction" is in this movie. That is irrelevant in terms of making a movie a movie.
  Strip away the iconic characters, and replace them with generic action movie characters, and this film is still poorly made on many filmmaking levels. It has some things of quality, don't get me wrong (some scenes, particularly the opening scene and a few action scenes, are effective, the cinematography is competent, the production design is decent if not familiar, and the score and sound design is pretty solid), but otherwise this is a poorly made movie. The story? Several plot threads that are poorly slapped together, and the third act is extremely forced. The characters? Mostly one-dimensional with bizarre motivations. The acting? Pretty mediocre depending on who we are talking about. The editing? Scene-to-scene editing is atrocious in both versions. Nothing links the scenes together. Visual effects? For this budget, not that great. Just look at Doomsday! The dialogue? Just listen to how terrible Eisenberg's dialogue is!

        I did, again. Keep in mind that I WANTED SO MUCH to love this movie. I was hyped for it for three years. I was first in line to see it on March 25, and on June 28th to get the Ultimate on Digital. I was prepared to call it one of my favorite movies. I've opened my mind to all the videos that defend it. And I love Batman and Superman so much. But my love for Batman doesn't overpower my love for well made films. And just so you know, I actually enjoy the film from the perspective of how the film takes these iconic characters. But strip that away, and the film is not well made.

      Sorry, I should have elaborated:
      I enjoy the movie from the perspective of how these characters are taken. I think the way some of these characters are taken (not all) is pretty bold, and on top of that I think some parts of the movie were very well done (as I mentioned in the post).
      But just because I enjoy something doesn't mean I think it's an objectively well made film.

      Well, it was just one person stating his personal opinion. There's a saying in my country "gustos como colores", that roughly translates as "for any colour there's a liking". What if this person happens to like one more than the other? It's his personal choice and that's not going to change the fact that The Dark Knight is the best superhero movie out there.
      But I agree on that this site (at least the comment section) is becoming something ugly. Not so long ago, it didn't matter that you liked the DCEU or not, you came here, statd your opinion, could have some bickering, but in the end it was just discussing about things with people who shared passion about the same topic as you.
      But since some months ago to nowadays it's been a frigging witch hunt to everyone who likes something related to Snyder. Even if an article it's not about Snyder, those who supposedly don't like him at all don't stop bringing him up! I swear not even his actual fans mention him so much.
      And of course if someone mentions something about those movies, even stating a frigging personal opinion, that commenter is personally attacked as if he or she was there offending someone.
      And I can't help but laugh at the irony of this comment of yours. Are you seriously implying that only those "Snyderbots" are the ones commenting at all times here? Because just taking a look at the last articles of this site tells a very, very different story... And yeah, I'm not going to deny that there are some Snyder's "defenders" here that may do the same thing, but there's no chance there are as many.
      And yeah, this could have been the last "stronghold" of people who liked those movies, or at least where people could just freely say it. That's no more.
      Well, at the end of day I'd still like both The Dark Knight and BvS, so I suppose it's double entertainment for me ;)

And yes, the DCEU is essentially dead, its characters are a punchline, and the main culprit, without question, is Mr. Snyder. People are upset. Their beloved heroes are being butchered, stripped out of every trait that made them attractive in the first place. If DC hasn't been fucking us over, then no one would've groused.

Snyder had directed at least 2.5 films in the DCEU, you shouldn't be surprised that some people have enjoyed his work

The person who leaked this wished to cause trouble for Patty Jenkins. The fun theory: Joss knew this from being around DC, then Patty Jenkins liked the tweet saying good riddance to Joss, so Joss leaked that Emma Stone passed on WW2. But that’s just a theory, it would take some aspiring Batgirl to chase the leak down to its source.

I think that cheetah will be introduced by having diana on an expedition in africa wokring her way up the antiques world accompanied by a nerdy type girl who has a enchantress type accident and she is presumed lost in the jungle. Diana searches and finds remnats of the "Cheetah" tribe or whatever. meanwhile russians looking for something in the jungle that oculd help with the cold war and stumble upon her help her get to health in her new form as cheetah and make her an assassian for them. just how i would do it....thoughts?

  It's not very important. Almost every actor who ends up playing a role wasn't the first choice. Edward Norton wasn't the first choice for Primal Fear. DiCaprio was. Kathrine Heigl was literally like the tenth choice for Knocked Up.
