Zack Snyder "likes" post implying Joss Whedon's 'Batgirl' exit was good news (update)

Last night a Zack Snyder super fan named Fiona shared a photo of a tweet on Vero about the news of Joss Whedon stepping down from Batgirl. "More bad news for fans of DC Entertainment: Joss Whedon is giving up on his Batgirl movie," the tweet read. Fiona, who is from China, shared some of her own commentary as well. Her comment translates to: "Today, the only bad news is that the media/press still think Whedon stepping down was bad for the DCEU. They should really raise the bar to be media". She obviously is not a big Whedon fan.

Where this story gets interesting is her comment implying that Whedon's exit from Batgirl was good news was "liked" by Zack Snyder. It was also "liked" by Snyder's good friend and DC Films photographer Clay Enos. Some fans believe that Enos responded to the Whedon news in his own way by sharing the song "Good Riddance" by Green Day shortly after the story broke.

With recent reports that Snyder was fired from Justice League and now this "like" about Whedon's departure from Batgirl, it's understandable why Snyder may not be the biggest Joss Whedon fan. It's certainly looking like he was pushed out of Justice League by Warner Bros. and Whedon was brought in to try and salvage what was deemed an "unwatchable" cut.

Saying people "didn't connect" with this take is sugarcoating it too much for me, but this really is WB's mess.

Everyone wants to point their fingers at directors, but Whedon (despite me not liking his choices this time, I did grow up loving Buffy and Angel) was put in a pretty cruddy position with JL.

I don't mind Snyder fans or Whedon fans. What I mind is this "BURN THE WITCH!!" mentality coming from the hyper-dramatic, vocal corner of the fan community.

Did some digging on the "Snyder Version" of JL, the one that made the WB execs crap their pants and fire him. Many believe this 4chan account is legit, since they provided a deleted scene that matches Snyder's WW museum shoot. I will post the picture below along with the video link it came from. After reading this, which sounds like a BvS overlay on the JL. More of his dark and depressing shit. Have at it;

Your post is confusing. It is Snyder's grand vision. WB never asked for this. In Fact, they made the decision to stop it, fire him and create something lighter.

  Ok, gotcha. Same here, I usually gravitate to darker themes myself. You brought up one of my favorite DC movies, V for Vendetta. Now there is a good example of a strong political themed, darker movie that worked. I watch that one often, and it is still relevant to the political situation today. Snyder should have taken some ques from that movie. His attempts at taking on such heavy themes were an utter failure and confusing.

This is the Justice League we're talking about ffs. Do you want the characters to appeal to emo kids or do you want them to be widely embraced by the audience?
That overly serious version would have probably struggled to pass $500M.
WB did the right thing by bringing Whedon on board. Zack's style has his appeal, but he was never the right man to handle the DC universe.

  It would have just been character development. They start in a dark place, defeat their inner demons and become heroes. It was that simple. If they had left that in the movie we could have seen more character growth. And I don't know why leaving that "serious aspect" would have been bad if we all knew they would become the heroes they are by the third act of the movie.
  With those cuts they only did a disservice to how the characters would have flowed with the narrative
  And it's no something we haven't seen in comics or movies prior to this:
  Aquaman was just like that at the beginning of Throne of Atlantis (one of his best stories and animated movies too)
  Barry has always been sad for verything related to his parents (that's what always has moved him). And remember that those sentiments led him to Flashpoint.
  Victor behaved the same way when he first was transformed into Cyborg (and who wouldn't in that situation). It's only after he comes to terms with that that he becomes more upbeat (as we saw at the end of JL)
  Batman has had many "suicidal" runs before, both in comics and movies (remember that for him that could be his only way out of Batman, he doesn't always think he can have a happy ending). For example we could see that at the beginning of The Dark Knight Rises.In fact, thoroughout the TDK trilogy we see the character always struggling and doubting about his mistakes and such, right until the end of the last movie (but now JL would have been too serious? How can this be possible?)
  Superman has always had many stories where he is tempted/reverted to go evil, but he always come back showing us the great hero he is, this wouldn't have been that different
  As you can see, we just would have seen more development, and it's clear the whole movie wouldn't have been like that, like at all. But of course, being filmed by Snyder would have been automatically bad even if we haven't seen it huh?

    That movie was the epitome of poor character development. They made Superman break Zod's neck, and that was never adressed in BvS, nor did it change Superman in any way. He still kills in BvS when it's necessary.
    Clearly, the dark and gritty style was just a stylistic decision without any further purposes.

      Ahem, more or less a couple of months ago we already discussed this and I showed you how wrong you were about all this just by pointing to you everything that was in the movie and you clearly ignored (but I always had the doubt about you having seen it in the first place). Do you want me to find that post again?
      And the rest of your comment is wrong too. He was hurt because he had to kill the last of his race, and showed that he chose the Earth as his actual home concluding his doubtings about towards which planet he should be loyal.
      He didn't kill in BvS, he actually and very clearly states that in the movie, unless you take into account his killing Batman in the Knightmare, something that in the end doesn't happen.
      Of course the dark and gritty style was an stylistic decision, but the porpuses were there since the beginning, and both writer and director said that way before BvS release. Basically it was that the night is darker before dawn, and we would witness these heroes' journey from darkness to light. After all, for light to be there there must be darkness, too.

      MoS character development was lacking. A lot of people who know about film know that.

      He made that choice far before breaking Zod's neck. He said "I won't be a part of this" in the dream sequence. There was never doubt Superman was with humans.
      Breaking Zods neck was unnecessary.

Barry- the guy's mom is dead and his dad is in jail. Do you honestly think he would be a happy person?
Victor- His mom is dead and he's half machine. Do you honestly think he would be a happy person?
Bruce Wayne- The guy already had a lot in his plate, and now he has to deal with the sins he commited in BvS. Do you honestly think he would be a happy person?
Aquaman- He's an outsider with abandonment issues, and he's being forced to be a king. Do you honestly think he would be a happy person?
