“Somewhere between the awful Suicide Squad and the really good Wonder Woman, there's a movie that is determined to be right in the middle - It's Justice League!,” they wrote as their YouTube video description.

I just had a thought. Black Panther's opening weekend domestic topped Justice League's domestic total. What if... BP's domestic total tops JL's worldwide total?! I have to sit down.

Wow, the thought that black panther will make more than 700 domestic or at least more domestic than Justice league did worldwide, man that's crazy. It can happen though, avengers had a three time multiplier, wonder woman basically a four, so if this movie has a 3.5, which is reasonable considering it will do better than avengers And has the social hype of wonder woman or even more so, 700 million just makes mathematical sense

It got the best Wednesday for a Marvel movie, too. That's insane.
But I think topping 657 domestic will be a tall task. Especially when the Infinity War hype starts ramping up.
Oh it is a tall task. I do believe it is up to said task. The best Wednesday in a school week too. It's almost as if parents and kids don't care about school at all. Just for this movie! And previous to this movie. And after. Infinity war ain't til may. This movie will past 400 million this weekend and will be approaching 500 million domestic by next weekend. Said weekend will get it into the 500s. Another two weeks and I believe it will reach 700 million. A month. I think that's what it will take. Plus that fifth weekend. And that's not even giving it wonder woman legs, it's right between avengers and Wonder Woman. but if it does play like wonder woman, it will not make less than $1 million daily till after 100 days. i'm telling you 700 million is a safe bet.
As well as BvS and MoS probably. Snyder is garbage and reasonable people know it.

To be fair, I’m watching Thor: Ragnarok right now and it’s a total CGI fest, too. The difference is, they spent more time working on the CGI on Thor. DC Films is at a disadvantage because critics are already prepared to dislike what they see. DC brought that on themselves, though. It all gets taken care of if they take their time and make good movies.

I sure hope so. I would love nothing more than for DC to reach the level Marvel is at and exceed it. That would push Marvel to take their game to another level and not get complacent. The Beatles would’ve never made Sgt. Peppers without The Rolling Stones or The Beach Boys pushing them. I really believe we will eventually see an Academy Award winning CBM.
I would not be surprised if black panther won an Academy award. I would also not be surprised if it did not. The Academy Awards are usually political, and yet they did not nominate Wonder Woman, so to me it's about 50-50 right now.

Yeah Ragnarok had a ton of CGI and maybe too much but at the very least the CGI is pretty amazing, Hulk looks incredible and makes Steppenwolf look like a joke.
That’s the difference between DC and Marvel. DC continues to rush their movies, while Marvel takes their time and does it right.

That's just flat out wrong. The DC films all have a much longer time between the start of production and the theatrical release than the average Marvel Film. For example, BvS started shooting a whole year before Civil War. Not to mention that Disney works on like five Marvel films at once while WB is taking it one at a time(at most two). Marvel films being better has nothing to do with "rushing."
They take a longer time because they're fumbling along the way. Because they're rushing and not planning things well enough. A driver who won't slow down and doesn't know the road will take longer to get to point B, because he keeps crashing and bumping into everything.
Change the word rushing with Snyder...
Rushing is definitely an issue for DC but I think the real problem is we’re still left with Snyder’s tone. I just can’t believe they let him continue after BVS. And JL looked the same. It’s weird but I think DC has a glimpse for a future.
Nah the CG in all of the recent Marvel films starting with Civil War(excluding Dr Strange) has been shit. It's just that Justice League was worse.

That was a good one and nearly everything they said is true. Got to laugh how a fucking Black Panther film is already a bigger success then JL, i hope WB will learn from this even if sadly they won't (a Joker origin film is proof of that). Hopefully Aquaman can at least be worthwhile.

While I agree JL was a huge letdown, and I'm sure BP is gonna be awesome (going next weekend), I think a lot of this boils down to culture as opposed to outright quality.
Money says more things than people seem to think it does. This isn't as straight-forward as "good = hype". Of course, I'm not denying "good" as a component here, but people are hysterical mobs anymore - especially us Americans. Be it for love or for hate, and it's usually either political or at least memetic behavior.
But Black Panther is still just a great movie, and its culture plays a big part of it in and out of the film. if we’re going by that logic, than Justice League should’ve done at least a little better since it too has a black character in Cyborg, and Wonder Woman as a strong female lead (And with the success of her solo movie, you’d think it would have).
But besides WW, most audiences just hated what came before, and the bad word of mouth got out for JL. Black Panther, on the other hand, has a great track record and great word of mouth, hence why it blew JL out of the water. We’ll see the real test when Black Panther’s second weekend comes around, and see how it holds up for weeks to come, but I’m pretty sure it will have great legs, and maybe even pass a billion when its run is over, deservedly so.
When I say culture, I'm not only referring to characters being black or white. That's part of culture, but word of mouth (as you brought up) is too - specifically the 'do no wrong' bias people have toward Marvel.
The 'do no right' bias people have toward DC was actually completely excused for WW by audiences largely because feminism is (was?) a pop culture sensation right now. She had a pretty good movie, but it's hype came from it being treated as a milestone and a revolution for women.
BP has the same kind of thinking behind a lot of it's audience that WW did, but without the 'DC sucks' stigma, and it's waving Marvel's flag, so obviously BP is doing better.
Also, focusing just on black characters for a sec, since you brought up Cyborg: I don't think it's fair to compare a side character that got most of the significant and impactful parts of his role cut from the movie to something like Black Panther, which not only stars a black hero in the lead, but is entirely focused around different aspects of black culture, African heritage, pride, etc, etc.
Of course BP is going to get more race points than Cyborg in this case. lol ;P
Don't get me wrong. I'm sure it'll have great legs too, and I look forward to contributing to that soon.

I want you to take the following into consideration: according to a Fandango survey, 89% of JL ticket-buyers stated that the most they are excited about was Wonder Woman. Now I want you to imagine that Wonder Woman didn't do well, or that she wasn't in the film to begin with, and try to guestimate what would've been the BO.
Good thing Black Panther had both culture and great quality.
We should sue WB for fake advertising. There are 80% of the scenes in the trailers that have been cut. I hate them.
Pretty much every trailer has stuff not in the final film.

It is sad that the biggest "come together" DC superhero movie turned out to be just ...meh. I don't fault Snyder. He is a B-grade director, nor Whedon who was just following WB's orders to create something out of the mess. I fault WB for hiring Snyder in the first place to overlook such a mega-project. The DCEU project was well over his pay grade.

Nobody's saying WB executives had to produce the movies themselves; their job was to find a competent filmmaker to orchestrate the whole thing. Instead they tried to pretend to be a "director driven" studio that let them do whatever they wanted. And this is the result.

Difference is as a whole Black Panther is a better film, anyway most faults reviews have put out have said the CGI in he 3rd act wasn't great.
Cgi not being great is one thing. But the cgi at the end of BP was fucking atrocious. That whole fight loses most of it's impact since it looks fake as fuck.
Its not great but its far from atrocious, atrocious is JL's CGI and Black Panther is far better then that.

Same thing with WW. Ending fight scene had horrible CGi but overall everyone raved about the movie because it was a good film. If the movie is good enough, people will give bad CGI a pass. If the movie sucks, like JL, then no pass for CGI either
Sure. But a 97% percent is fucking insane when the last 30 min is a cgi clusterfuck. And I enjoyed this film even with it's cliche as fuck story
The VFX in WW were no where near as bad. There was just one shot where she was mowing down the soldiers that didn't look good, but the rest of it looked fine.
I thought area CGI was horrible as well. I'd put the 2 on par. Both were great films though
Wonder woman. The CGI at the end was atrocious but everyone over looked it because the film itself was great. MOS was a divisive depressive film. Sorry man, you may like it and that's ok, but a lot of ppl saw it as depressive

Really enjoyed black panther especially the political/cultural undertones, but you nailed it. The CGI in that film near the end fight scene in the vibranium minds was horrid

All the stuff they "pretended" didn't happen was my main issue with this movie. It's like whoever wrote this movie didn't watch BvS before writing JL. Especially the stupid sudden change of mind Batman had about Superman and the fake relationship between Clark and Bruce as if they had been bffs for a long time.
And does anybody else find it funny how unused, irrelevant and disposable all of Batman's vehicles are?

I agree. Snyder's Batman didn't use his wit or detective skills which he is...The World's Greatest Detective, or something like that. His Batman relied on gadgets and tech to aid him in fighting. In the Batman animated series he used his detective skills and placed a tracker on Superman to find out his secret identity, and even fought him with his combat training and martial arts... without any special batsuit. Snyder stripped Batman of all the qualities that make him Batman, trading them up for flash and over the top screen moments.
Is there even a moment in BvS where Bruce find's out who Superman is or does it happen off screen after he dies or what?
Yeah, people give too much credit to Snyder for his Batman. Yeah, the scene where he beats up the thugs was badass but other than that it was pretty meh. And don't even get me started on JL's Batman lol

I loved how after saving MARTHA!!!! Bats says he's a friend of her sons despite a few moments earlier he was about to kill that "friend" haha.

Still doesn't change the fact from MARTHA onward they act like good friends despite the fact Bruce was trying to murder him (the fact i typed Bruce trying to murder him shows how little Snyder knows about these characters).
But you can't fault Snyder for what seems to be a rewrite in JL. And they sure as hell didn't like friends right after Batman spares him.
And again, Batman to be acting out of character. I don't why you guys can't wrap your head around with this, when even the movie is telling you that Batman's actions aren't right.
No they didn’t. They simply acted like allies now, instead of enemies. Doesn’t feel unnatural at all, not even in the Josstice League, in which Bruce clearly has done more research into who Clark was and what he was about And his life story. Not sure what the complaint is.

Yet its never mentioned, the heroes made some sense because Barry appeared on CCTV, Cyborg was a video log and Arthur was what ever. Bruce rarely takes his mask off thoughand wouldn't stupid to get caught on camera and Clark is just a no name person who Lex wouldn't spy on because why would he. End of the day its a massive plot point whats never explained.
In the tie-in comic prequel, Lex hacked into the Bat computer and spied on Batman. Even without that, it's actually very easy to deduce Batman's identity. Kids WB show, The Batman, had an episode where a robot explained how he was able to find out Batman's identity. It's very easy to assume that someone as smart as Lex would figure out in a similar way.
And as with Clark, he's living with Lois. Since Lex has friends in the government, he probably heard about Faora wanting Lois to accompany with her and Superman back to Zod.
Leaving vital info to a tie-in comic is not a good move and Lex hacking the Bat computer shouldn't be possible considering the tech Bats uses. As for The Batman yeah that has no relevance at all, the only things what have relevance here is the film itself or the comics.
As for the Superman thing well that's head canon and nothing more.
How? Lex was able to hack the Kryptonian ship. I'm pretty sure that the Bat computer was as hard to hack as when Tony Stark had hacked the Pentagon when he was in middle school.

Even if he was in a grey area, it doesnt remove his brain and detective work which he used finding info from luthor etc..he used a tracker on the truck and couldve used it on superman as well..he had over a year to do detective work on him...no excuses

Sure, superman saves the world from zack, and of course there's collateral damag.so batman wants to kill him and already made up his mind without proper investigation. Meanwhile superman keeps saving people, but no, let me just kill him. Superman letting the bad guys go and wrecking the batmobile just to have a dick contest with badman, while letting the guys with rocket launchers escape.
No matter how mad batman is, he always investigate. He had plenty of time to watch superman and learning more about him, even uncovering his identity and background/school, parents, work etc just as easy as lex, everything couldve been avoided.lois was a better detective than the greatest detective. Even though Affleck was great as batman, his interpretation was terrible and out of character, and if you cant see that then you're just flat out ignoring it. Also the fight between them couldve been avoided easily if supes just told him what was going on instead of throwing him across building's. Lex had an OBSESSION with metahumans. Batman didn’t even have any reason to investigate that. Lex was mentally disturbed and had every reason to. Two different motives and psychologies, two different outcomes.
Batman was only out of character as much as he could be within the realm of possible interpretations for the character. Take TDK Trilogy Batman, put him through the destruction of Wayne Manor, the murder of Robin, and MoS, and you will have the BvS Batman.
Superman tried to tell Bats multiple times, in spite of the fact that he was led to believe Batman couldn’t even be talked to, but had to be beaten to submit, and the fact that he was angry with Batman and had to keep himself from fighting him anyway, and the fact that he was repeatedly getting assaulted with machine gun fire and sonic weaponry and Kryptonite and such. Stop blowing everything out of proportion and making things up just so you can justify your irrational hatred.

Cause there's MANY onthe things more important than that that people complained about. If you notice when I brought it up some people realized it also never happened.
It dumb for 2 reasons:
1- from a story telling point of view, they just leave out important stuff and let you fill the wholes with whatever you want to think happened.
2- Bruce had met Clark before, you don't want to know how he reacted and how he finds out about it? Dis he feel stupid, surprised, "guilty". It's not an irrelevant moment from a character's perspective
Bruce said that he failed Superman in life, so I’m pretty sure that he felt guilty, especially since he had paid for the funeral.

I just feel that since we’re being led to believe that Bruce had paid for everything and even says that he had failed , we don’t need for him to basically say “I feel like an asshole”. His actions and speech were enough, in my opinion.
And the government cant? Lets say your explanation is right, why not show it to the audience....it doesnt matter how, at least respect the audience and show valuable pieces of information and dont just skip over it like it wasnt important, because without that information, lex wouldn't have a plan.

I agree with most of tge thing you mentioned, except for the part about batman fighting supes with no suit. Maybe it works in the comics, but not live action. That would've been stupid lol
Uh....all Batman did was Judo throw Superman in the animated series. He basically caught Superman off guard. You can tell by Superman's facial experssion that he didn't anyone to do something that ballsy. He even tells Batman: "I heard that you were crazy, but I didn't think you would be stupid."
Even Miller's Batman had used armor to fight Superman. Even in the comics at one point, Batman mentioned that punching Superman in the face, even while wearing armor I think, nearly resulted in him breaking all of the bones in his hand.
And Batfleck did use gadgets, tech, and his wit to beat Superman.....
Plus Buttfleck ate an entire cow for the reshoots. What a fat fucking slob!

Eh, Justice League, has to be one of the most polarizing comicbook movie releases in recent history. I was looking forward to it but goddamn did they find a way to ruin absolutely everything. Overblown budget, yet somehow the CGI still was noticeable, Henry's mustache drama, Fatfleck being out of shape, too many quips around, turning Batman into a jokester, fully CGI villain with no depth, horrible soundtrack, I could go for days.
Bottom line, Screen Junkies may be biased marvel fanboys, but they're so right about this movie and pretty much the remaining DCEU entries(I know it's satire). Marvel took their time to reach where they are, they took semi familiar characters and made them into icons through many movies and stories told while DC took icons and tried to cram as much of them into a movie without any stories told beforehand. These are sad times for DC fans, but as long as WB is controlled by these fools that want Marvel's success over night, those times are gonna stay both sad and dark for us.

RTs rotten range is 0-59 not exactly a small range. Justice League sits at 40 which again is a far cry from "load of bullshit". Its more akin to what the OP said about polarizing 40-50 = polarizing.

Here's a list of factual reasons as to why JL is bullshit even if i do enjoy the film. Really poor CGI, really poor villain and one of the worst in comic book films recent memory, poorly edited, very weak soundtrack, too much humor, Affleck barely acting bothered about the role, Diana reduced to stuff like Flash on her boobs, hung over still from Steve and of course ass shots, it also had a awkwardly edited flashback, reshoots were clear, Flash being nothing like the Flash and everything feeling rushed. Yeah all that stuff = bullshit, is it watchable sure but its still a bad film.

Disagree. Justice League was a mess with awful CGI, but despite the terrible disappointment, I found it to be mildly entertaining. I can't say the same about BvS and MoS and SS.
What i mean is even those who enjoy or like the film myself included still knows its a bad film, if BvS is a bad film i think JL is a bad film but watchable.

A polarizing film is one where the majority of critics/people rank it on either end of the ratings spectrum, or at least there being a significant difference in their opinions. That is not the case with JL, where most reviews had it right down the middle. Which means most people agreed that it was an average movie. Not polarizing.

Come on man, they reused the original Superman theme from the Donner movies era and the Burton Batman theme. That for me is extremely pathetic when they already made such great themes for each character. "Arcade" from MOS which could be Superman's theme is 10 times better than that. New incarnations require new themes, reusing past themes is both laziness and arrogance.

Remember when before JL was out how people laughed at the thought of Thor beating it and how it was a dead cert to be one of the biggest comic book films of all time and will easily make a billion+, i also remember how i was laughed at when i suggested Thor could easily beat it. Look at JL now, its just a joke what people laugh at and take the piss out off with Black Panther's domestic gross in less then a week beating JL's domestic gross. Its sad time we live in for us DC fans, still at least the comics are kicking ass and we have a ton of JL comic goodness to come with Scott Snyder and an epic in Flash War.
I didn’t believe Thor would beat it either, but here we are. The movies bum me out, but, like you said, the comics are still great, and even their TV shows, animated movies, video games, etc. It’s just when it comes to one of the biggest forms of entertainment THE MOVIES, that they can’t get their stuff together, which is just so disappointing. :\
I see this comparison a lot, but I don't really buy it. DC's comics are all over the place in quality, with some being amazing but plenty still sucking, or leaving you scratching your head somewhere in the middle.
DC's animated movies are okay on average, with only a few standing out. Most of the adaptations leave a lot of important oomph out that needed to be carried over from the comics they're based on. I find that people who enjoy them tend not to have read the source material, or perhaps don't care too much about (or forgive) weak spots that they would be much harder on in a live action movie.
The videogames are hit and miss as interpretations, but the more recent ones tend to at least be well made gameplay wise, and Injustice got a pretty strong tie-in comic series.
And the TV shows seem to have as many haters as they have lovers. I'm enjoying Flash and Legends, but that's kind of it. I see a lot of Flash fans crapping on CW Flash in these comments sections though.

Rebirth has been extremely strong though and has been since it started, only a few comics suck with most ranging from decent to incredible. Strong reviews, sales and readers reaction are proof of that.

DC games wise are actually doing great right now. The Arkham games are incredible, Injustice 2 is a fantastic fighter with a fantastic story mode what has great respect for DC with the roster including the DLC being pretty fantastic and varied. The Lego games are also great fun and the Telltale Batman game is pretty good.
As for the TV shows well most of the hate comes from sites like these with people dismissing them because CW. End of the day all the CW DC shows are doing well with Black Lightning being a great addition to the line up. As for Gotham well i hate the show but viewing figures must be strong and i while i'm not keen on the idea of Krypton i do admit the trailers have me curious at least. Then you have stuff like Titans coming soon as well.
I guess it all boils down to whether you think the majority is right, or that the majority's feelings should be conceded to be the right direction to take simply because of market demand.
Like you, I find Gotham to be ...less than preferred, but I felt the same way about Smallville and it ran for how many seasons? So, do we determine success simply by the amount of people that eat it up and keep the money train rolling? haha
I call success something that meets a criteria of reasonable standards, or exceeds those standards. What those standards are is dependent on the individual, of course, but it's easy (for the less insane of us) to be fair and flexible with them without sacrificing the integrity of the thing being adapted.
Just like when bvs was released, every fanboys was saying r.i.p marvel and that it will beat civil war, but that stopped as soon as the second weekend numbers came in.

Yeah if the people weren't tired of Batman and Superman, and I would say they weren't, they are now. They should even be tired of Iron Man and Captain America by now, though I will say Civil War had the worst legs of a Marvel movie, Bad legs from a huge number to begin with is still a win. And I truly did not have bad legs just the worst legs for mcu.
You know a big reason i think people still love Stark and Cap is because we have seen growth each film with them, i mean the Stark we have in Civil War is very different to the Stark we had in the first IM film for instance. Its been consistent with their characters as well and the growth has felt natural.
Absolutely, they have in a sense reversed roles. You would not expect Tony to be on the side of the government. But with his PTSD, and helping shield which turned out to to be hydra, with their Heli carriers, and building Ultron, and on the flipside you have Cap having to clean up after Tony on Winter soldier and age of Ultron, plus the fact that they always sort of never liked each other since day one. It was a storm abrewing. One that we saw forming from the beginning stages. But from Man of steel to Batman versus Superman, starting off with a stalker psycho, well, doesn't matter now.
Off of such a great first weekend! The best worldwide ever if I remember correctly. Man even the legs of that very weekend were bad, from Friday to Sunday, imagine if people liked the movie, that worldwide first weekend would've been through the roof.
People blame the critics but it was bad word of mouth what destroyed BvS, people weren't going back and weren't telling their friends and family to watch it. It still done alright sure but it could have been Avengers level if people actually liked the film.
It was 420m world wide on opening weekend alone, and ended with 870.

I’m all for independence and liking things. I liked most of the movie, myself, as well. Just be aware of the horror story behind the scenes of the movie and don’t settle with WB not releasing the Snyder Cut.

I loved Justice League, but I still think that they should have delayed it to polish the movie more. That and cutting the film down to two hours hurt it big time.
