Who says DC and Marvel can't get along?

Marvel's latest movie, Black Panther, opened this weekend to a huge $195 million. Fans and critics alike loved it. And so did Justice League star Ray Fisher. "Run run run to see Black Panther!," he said on Twitter. "It’s the perfect blend of comics and conscious. Thanks @ryancoogler and the entire crew for changing the game!"

Hopefully Ray Fisher gets his Cyborg movie sooner rather than later.

Representation? Haven’t black people been represented in movies since, oh I don’t know, the late 60s?! Where is the movement for Mexican representation, you know the ones who built and still build and maintain this country while the blacks pretend they don’t have opportunity but they are the second most well off race next to whites and the first in laziness. (Ask any worker in any non entertainment industry business who the laziest race is)

        Oh that is right. I love Blue Beetle. I was not impressed with the Rebirth comic though, kind of a let down. I had high hopes for it, especially since he teamed up with the old Blue Beetle. I just couldn't finish Vol 1. I may return to it later and give it a second chance.

      I think you are overselling it with "everybody." Geoff threw her and Baz in there for diversity reasons, which I don't have an issue with, as long as they have great character development. The problem is the characters were not properly fleshed out and have yet to find something everyone can relate too. I am reading all the Rebirth comics now, two or three volumes in, and their run in the GL (finished Vol 2) are the worst. Simon comes across as goofy at times (liked him better in New 52 run,) and they keep rehashing Jessica's moments of "hiding in the closet" to getting her green on. I like character vulnerabilities, but they need to address them better, and then move on. If it doesn't get better on Vol 3, I am dropping them.
      Besides, Kyle, Hal and Guy are the best GL. John's kind of military boring, but sufficient.

        Volume 3? Well you seem to be pretty early in the series. So ya, read more. Also, I quite clearly said "Everybody I know", not just "everybody". Yes in my experience I have not met many people who didn't like Jessica. As far as I have observed, most people seem to have taken a liking to her and people really dig the green Lanterns series. Maybe you have had different experiences, or maybe you are just saying that because you don't care for her and thats what you want to believe everyone feels. Either way, the anxiety is her thing and part of what makes her interesting(and relatable since many deal with such issues). Also, tehre is nothing wrong with diversity unless you do what marvel does and replaces beloved characters with new diverse ones that people dislike.

  "Laziness" or other kind of attitude - good or bad from your point of view - do not come from race, it comes from the culture, you give what you learn, if you learn laziness then you give laziness, if you learn to judge people then you judge people.
  You think that black people have been represented since 60's ... well if I don't count Hancock (2008) and Suicide Squad (2016) with Will Smith, I can say that I don't really remember a black actor in the leader role for a superhero movie since Blade 3 in 2004.
  Futhermore, do you remember a superhero movie with a female actress in the leader
  role before Wonder Woman (2017) ? Yes you do, Elektra in 2005.
  Finally, do you remember a superhero movie with an asian or arab actor in the leader role ?
  You want a mexican superhero ? It's your right, and it can happen someday with Miles Morales's Spider-man, but remember that Marvel Studios and the others, even if they are mostly american, they study the market first and do not invest in something that can't bring money.

    No it's not. It's not anyone's "right" to have a superhero of his or her own preference.
    Also, superhero movies aren't the only movies in existence. Black people have gotten the representation, in accordance to their demographic. As in: they are 13% of the population, make up around 13% of movie roles, and get 13% of Oscar nominations (which disproves the claim that black people only get minor roles). I don't see the problem.
    Also, why is BP treated as "THA FIRST", when it isn't? Blade, Catwoman.. Heck, even Steel are all black led CMBs. And yeah, they are shit. But that doesn't disprove the argument though. The hype around Black Panther is so overblown and a bit ridiculous if I'm honest. I'm sure it's a good film, but come on... People are treating this as the second coming of Christ. They are pretending as though this movie should make black people happy. Seriously, if your happiness or confidence hinges on a superhero flick, aimed at kids, with a fictional protagonist, coming from a fictional country that doesn't exist... I find that extremely sad.

        I don't care about these "first of" type things. I just want a good film, as I'm sure BP will be. That said, I really don't care for the politicization of these films. I just wish people could see beyond these things.

        Yep. BP is only get this crazy hype because of, like Rust said, timing and the MCU brand. You didn't hear anyone going crazy over Cyborg in JL. I guarantee that if the Cyborg film was released today, people wouldn't give much crap about it.
        Even a Static Shock or Black Lightning film wouldn't this much hype.

        Yeah, I guess it's mainly because it's not just a black hero. He's an African one. I think it's cool we're seeing an African superhero movie, just because it's different. Not because it "represents" something. Couldn't care less about that.
        As for Cyborg, you're right. I don't see anyone giving a shit about his solo film.
        Although tbh, Cyborg was a standout in JL for me. I really thought his character was the most relatable of the whole league. Makes me more excited to see him in the future. Whereas with Ezra's Flash... I was so damn disappointed with his "take" on the character.

        Same. I hope I like the film just as much as everyone else, but the lengths people are going to hype it up is just ridiculous. It's good that people are trying to get poverty kids to see this film, but again, where was this when Hancok or Catwoman was released?

        To be completely honest here... I don't think this movie is going to change or solve the problems that plague the black demographic in the US. It's a movie. It's cool for kids to see it, but it's not going to drastically change their lives. If black people want change, they need to tackle the biggest problem facing them today: single motherhood / fatherlessness. I know it's off topic, but it really bothers me that people pretend this movie is "so important" when they'd rather ignore the REAL issues they face. Single parenthood / fatherlessness is statistically, the single biggest reason why blacks are doing worse than other groups of people in the US. But no one dare say a thing about it.

        Frankly, I don't think it really has anything to do with black people necessarily. Just the current political climate. Frankly, if BP had been released 15 years ago, I don't think anyone would care as much as they do today.
        Identity politics are shoved down our throats 24/7. We're told that we should care about the skin color of certain characters. This goes against everything I believe in. I just don't care about it. I really miss the "colorblindness" of the 90s and early 2000s.

        Me too, they want us to forget about how race separates this, yet we’re constantly reminded about division. Doesn’t matter whether it’s dressed up as “pushing for positive change” it’s still reminding everyone that we’re all different because of our skin color. Even if it’s telling us we need to give special care and recognition to other races it’s STILL just not letting the whole thing go. Black Panther should be able to be released without people having to cheer Disney on and make a big deal out of the fact that black people are getting their long overdue moment. You want to make everyone equal ? Then stop giving special attention to certain groups even IF it’s positive.... of course, don’t give them negative attention either but that should just go without saying.

        Doing your own research from credible sources (pew research, etc) is the best way to stay informed.
        Frankly, I don't think I've ever heard of a truly accurate news report by the mainstream media. The US media is especially bad, since they don't have rules that regulate their garbage (I know why, freedom of speech and all... but in my country, news outlets are forced to have "some" type of standard, in order to make it more honest. That being said, the media here is also, really bad and biased for the most part).

Getting easier to spot the guys that are the real deal nowadays since youtube censors them to all hell when they start hitting the nail on the head. As far as “mainstream” type news the most mainstream i’ll yo is RT News. Some say they’re Russian propaganda... I tend to see them as very logical and unbiased even though they don’t go tooo far down the rabbit hole.         Yes it is. According to research, the 3 biggest factors dictating your economic future are: don't drop out of high school (basically, get a degree), don't have kids before you're married (as this leads to single motherhood), get a job.
        Fatherlessness is directly linked to a much higher probabilities of resorting to crime.
        75% of all patients in drug abuse programs are from fatherless homes.
        85% of children with behavioral disorders come from fatherless homes.
        Single motherhood plagues the black community. 70% of black children come from fatherless households. This is really bad. There isn't any issue more destructive than this one. It is absolutely THE biggest reason. It's a statistical fact, not an opinion.
        Don't believe me? Research the consequences of single motherhood and then look at how many blacks are raised in these environments. That blacks are doing worse than others shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

        There's no evidence to support your assertion. People in the West are becoming increasingly more tolerant of other races. In my country, we have 85% of whites not having any problems whatsoever with living next to poc or other minorities. If you take out ideological differences (as in: religion. Or basically, Islam), that number increases drastically and it only increases with each year.
        These numbers go along with human and technological development. Which is why the West and its people are the least racist and most tolerant people on Earth. Considering that every country is heading towards a more technologically and ethically advanced state, it's only natural that people will become more and more tolerant and less prejudiced.
        It's the same with crime. Crime happens, but with each year, it drops quite significantly.
        In my hometown, crime is practically non-existent. Heck, the last crime that happened here was probably decades ago.

        I too am happy to see an African film (setting), just because I'm getting bored of the same old "saving the world... but really only New York" plot we've seen so many times. However, this has nothing to do with "the black race" for me. And you're lying if you're saying that this is the same for many American blacks. Because it isn't. Many US blacks are ecstatic about seeing BP, because it has black people in it. I think that's extremely sad, not to mention, stupid. It's like white Americans feeling happy about seeing a French film or something, just because it has only white people. Doesn't make any sense. French culture is so radically different from US culture. If white cultures make distinctions between one another, why do black Americans pretend that every black culture, in this case being African culture, "represents" them? It doesn't.

        I've only ever taken issue with people needlessly politicizing this film and hyping the film for ideological reasons, I just want people of all races to look passed that. For example, many of the reviewers making political statements, despite the fact that this movie is not politically motivated.

"The first major superhero film with a woman", yet I never saw you complain about that once, eventhough we knew that was untrue.         It's really more so of the MCU brand tbh. Black Panther's really the only first leading Black character to be put into the MCU.
        And for the Black community, it sort've makes sense for the hype that they finally get a black character placed into the incredibly huge and successful Brand, known as the MCU.

    Shaq played Steel in 1997 as well as Michael Jai White played Spawn the same year and in 1998 Blde 1 came out but still not the 60's.
    Catwoman came out 2004, a year prior to Elektra. And the first female superhero lead movie I can think of is 1984's Supergirl

      I was refering to the latest movies, not the first ones, in order to show him that superhero movies with a black actor in the leader role are not common.
      There's ~14 years between Blade 3 and Black Panther.

        Well, the one superhero movie per year thing didn't really start until 2008, and it was hard to get that ball rolling with any names that weren't already well known to the general public prior to them getting movies.
        So we've had nine-ish years of that snowballing, and that is eventually creating opportunities for lesser known characters (race regardless) to bloom and shine after the big ones are out of the way (naturally).
        Give it time and we'll see this become more common as per the variety and commonality existing in the comics. :)

      I find it extremely disheartening and pathetic that so many losers on this thread have a major issue with BP being falsely marketed as the first major black superhero film by Marvel (we know it's not), but these same losers were quiet about WW being falslely marketed as the first female hero. Either you're against all the false identity marketing or you're for all of it. You can't be okay with the DC one because you like DC and against marvel doing it because you don't like marvel.         He does really well. I disliked him in F4ntastic 4 but in Black Panther he played the Killmonger part so well. The character development writing for him helped greatly with his acting.

Cyborg was my favorite character in Justice League, on par with Superman. Of course, #CluelessWB wants to fast track other movies like SS2, Harley and Joker, GCS, or whatever instead. However, I would not be surprised if WB changes its plans and announces a Cyborg movie soon due to the success of Blackpanther. Given the history of WB changing their scheduled movies, this may be a nonissue.

  Cyborg was my most hyped, and sadly got the meat of his character chopped off. I want an extended cut that brings back all the stuff between Victor and his father, the football game, him saving people, etc. Needed more of an emotional development arc with his decision to be a hero with his new abilities versus losing his humanity.
  I still think Ray Fisher was one of the best parts of the movie, but now I just want all of that stuff to at least make it into a Cyborg solo movie or a Teen Titans movie.
  #CluelessWB for sure -- so far.

        I left the theater feeling the movie was incomplete and unsatisfying. I left the theater literally saying, “Well that was nice, but I sure am looking forward to an extended director’s cut.” One of the reasons I felt that way was how shallowly some of the characters seem to be handled in backstory and development - mainly Aquaman and, most relevantly, Cyborg.

Cyborg was the character that I felt most connected to emotionally through out the movie, and couldn't help wonder how awesome of a back story he has.   Agree that it's a political cash-grab to some extent, and society is mostly hyped for the fact that he's black as opposed to the actual quality of the film or the fact that the character is interesting and well-written.
  It's telling that no one cared when Blade and Spawn happened, but now that race is a hot topic again and people have been manipulated into thinking there's some kind of anti-black agenda in America, suddenly the "first black superhero film ever" (lol) lights up the news.
  However, I don't think the movie is necessarily not great just because of those things. It's probably fine (I'll find out soon). Despite society's childish, knee-jerk, mob-like behavior these days, I plan to enjoy Black Panther in context with itself.
  T'Challa deserves a boost, and I hope more memorable comics about him will follow this success - much as we saw with Wonder Woman recently. :)
  Don't agree that Logan and TDK aren't great. :P

    Blade or spawn cannot be compared to black panther, i dont know why people cant seem to see why bp is popular.. Its one of the first movies that doesnt picture africans as slaves or ugly and weak.
    It shows powerful black women unlike the ghetto interpretation we get everyday on tv etc... So its not just about having a black hero as the lead, its bigger than that.

        But you was arguing that BP is one of the FIRST movies to not portray Africans as weak or ugly. Hancok, Spawn, Blade, and even freaking Blankman does neither of that. Hancok was basically MoS with a theme of social acceptance.

        Also again... You're acting as if this is the first time we've seen black characters that aren't ghetto, weak, ugly thugs. This is just not true. Even if BP is African, it doesn't matter. We've also never seen a Hollywood film about Bulgaria, why is that not important?
        And honestly, Wakanda is not at all representative of Africa. I've had the privilege of going to Africa, and enjoyed it immensely. But there's no denying that poverty, low life standards, corruption, violence, etc are rampant in Africa. I've seen it with my own eyes. There's stuff going on there that you simply wouldn't believe. At least compared to Western standards. So if other Hollywood films about Africa showed it as "weaker" or something like that, for example with Blood Diamond or Last King of Scotland, it's pretty accurate (as far as Hollywood movies go, that is) frankly.
        In all honesty, I think it's damn near disgusting how people are actually so blind as to pretend Wakanda is a good representation of Africa, when it basically ignores its real geopolitical climate.

        Theres no problem showing the bad and corruption etc, and I've been there and to haiti and ive seen all of these things, but I also saw the beautiful part of it is mostly never showed. You cant always show the bad and not the good is how i feel. Its still kind of important especially for the kids, even if its fictional. From middle school through high school all you learn about africa or black people is that we we're slaves, how shitty africa is etc...they never talk about before the slavery, what we've contributed and what we've accomplished for all minorities around the world, im getting off subject here but all im saying is, it feels good to see a movie with an all black cast in africa thats not about slavery or gangster stuff.

        In terms of nature, Africa is a miracle, but that's not really fair for human representation. It's got nothing to do with it. And sure, while I was there, I met lovely, individual people whom I got along with just fine. But as a culture... as a continent... or even as all the countries that make up Africa... there's barely anything good you could say about it. I wish it weren't like that, but I would be lying if I said Africa has ever contributed to the world technologically, ethically, intellectually, philosophically, etc. It's just not true.
        Even what used to be the golden standard of African development, being South-Africa under Apartheid (and make no mistake, I am completely against such racial segregation), has now become a total shithole with one of the highest murder and rape rates in the world. Not to mention its blatantly anti-white and racist policies (research white farmers in south Africa in case you don't know what I'm talking about).
        Again, I don't like saying any of this. I genuinely wish I could say how awesome Africa was. And again, in terms of nature, it is. And of course there are good individuals there. But as a whole? As countries? Cultures? No... Africa has absolutely offered nothing good to the world.

It means, there are consequences to these historical facts, and some happened to be positive, for today's standards.
        Imperialism or not, it is ONLY Africa that's "never recovered" from it. Why is that? Europeans had faced massive near extinction level events when the Asians came over and brought their diseases with them. Nearly half of Europeans died. Europe still flourished. But when Africa was colonized, suddenly that means they are doomed for eternity. Why is this not true for India? Singapore? True, India is quite literally a shithole, but again, hardly due to white people. White people didn't force Indians to shit on the street (this actually happens, it's disgusting).         As the head of this terrorist group, he ordered massive amounts of public bombings. 156 acts of public violence he plead guilty to. Those are just the ones he publicly acknowledges, btw. These acts of violence include but are not limited to, mobilizing terrorist bombing campaigns, which planted bombs in public places.
        He was head of this group for 2 whole years before he was arrested in 1962. This group still went on the plant bombs in churches, shopping centers, and other public places, particularly around Christmas and resulted in the deaths of many innocent children, women and men.
        The official death count for all of these attacks is unknown. Probably because Nelson buried those statistics to save his public image and fool people such as yourself.
        Nelson was found with tens of thousands (around 50k) of landmines, which were sent to him by the communist government in Russia. None of this justifies Apartheid, obviously. But Apartheid sure as shit doesn't justify his crimes against humanity either.
        Nelson has NEVER in his life renounced or otherwise condemned the violence. In fact, President Botha offered to release him from prison if he would stop authorizing his followers to bomb people. Nelson "freedom and justice" Mandelo said no. He was put in prison, not because he was black... not because he was fighting the "white man". He was put in prison because he ordered bombings. If it were up to me, the guy would've gotten the death sentence back in '62.
        Speaking of death sentences... Mandela was married 3 times. His 2nd wife was about as evil as a human being could get. She tortured and brutally murdered a 14 year old boy, whom she called an "informant". She was a huge fan of what is called "necklacing". Which is a practice where in you wrap someone in barbed wire, then jam a tire over their shoulders so they can't move, you pour gasoline into the rim of the tire and you set fire to it, melting their face off in the process and causing their eyes to explode. Again, his wife was a huge fan of this and practiced it multiple times.
        This evil witch is who Mandela married. Sure, he's not directly responsible for her crimes... but a man is surely reflected by the people he chooses to surround himself with.
        Under his rule, the average income of all races dropped 40% from 1995 and 2000. The UN 2006 Human Development Report found that over the last 3 decades Africa has had a "virtual reversal" of human development: South Africa dropped 38 places on the Human Development Index since 1994. South Africa is now the rape and murder capital of the world. And let's not even talk about the public white genocide and institutional anti-white racism going on in South Africa right now.
        The tragic fact of business is that ordinary Africans were better off under colonialism. Colonial masters never committed anything near the murder and genocide seen under black rule in Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda, Nigeria, Mozambique, and other countries, where millions of blacks have been slaughtered in unspeakable ways, which include: hacking to death, boiling in oil, setting on fire and dismemberment. I am not justifying Apartheid or white superiority.
        But the fact of the matter is, 60% of South Africans felt the country was better run under apartheid, with both blacks and whites rating the current government less trustworthy, more corrupt, less able to enforce the law and less able to deliver government services than its white predecessor.
        So I advice you to be really careful before so blindly glorifying such a piece of shit human being who's the cause of the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands of people, and whose rule and run as President sent his country back by several decades.

        I'm a massive cinephile. I've watched an insane amount of films, many of which most people here on Batman-News have never really heard of, because it's so alternative and low-budget (this is also why it bothers me when people say movies like MoS are "art". No... MoS was a very loud, obnoxious and frankly, quite dumb action flick. I say this because I compare it to ACTUAL arthouse). I appreciate film immensely, and I do see it as art. Heck, I used to want to be a director myself. Unfortunately, job opportunities are few and far between in this field, so I opted for STEM.
        But as far as these films go... they are just movies. Not arthouse. They are simply NOT important at all.

Given that most Marvel films are overrated as it is, I just don’t believe this one is gonna be that special one where the critics were actually right for once and the film is the masterpiece they all act like it is.         In all seriousness, i’ve done that since Avengers came out but I still complain just to continuously troll them and shine a light on the fact that they just ride with the trends. Too many people sti’ll take them seriously today and that’s a problem considering it’s become a big clickbait/bandwagoning fest. But yes, I ALWAYS form

      A lot of people are saying this is the first black superhero film ever. That's why I put it in quotations. Most of them are definitely not saying anything as in-depth or thoughtful as what you're saying.
      I appreciate all of those things, though, and I consider them important. I'm excited about the movie, trust me. :)

    Not really. Highly overrated is what I label TDK. Ambitious, well written, yes. But how high can I rate a film where I can’t stand the performance of the main character/protagonist? Especially, when it’s a character I love so much. And the other knock id out against it is that it drags, gets a little dull at times, and is a little too lacking in the “fun” department.
    But don’t act so surprised man, i’m far from the only one that thinks TDK is overrated.

        Personally, Im not in love with Heath Ledgers Joker. He was neither creepy, intimidating, or funny enough so I would most definitely disagree on him embodying the character. Before you go throwing around all the instances that YOU found funny or YOU found creepy just remember I’ve already seen the film and whatever scenes

The problem with Cyborg is, after his initial coming of age to be a superhero story, which some of it was told in JL, he is kind of lacking in the villain dept, and interesting stories in general. His comics have been mediocre at best and have always been one of DC's lowest sellers. The most glaring omission, he doesn't have his own technologically advanced kingdom full of backup characters like Black Panther.
If you really want a DC superhero that explores the African roots and has a better story full of supporting characters, it is Vixen. Fail on WB's part to realize this. Plus, they would have another female superhero...something Marvel has failed to give us...at least until their Captain Marvel comes out.

    Oh I am sure the writers could scrape something together story wise, and the rumor is Grid is going to be his villain. I am actually talking about scope, ie., no large supporting "kingdom" cast, or homeland, etc. I don't see Cyborg as THE DC equivalent suphero to mirror what they did for Black Panther, that is all.

      Agreed about the poor CGI. I believe Snyder changed his look from the comics by giving him an angular metal appearance, so it would be easier, and cheaper, during the post-production CGI phase to render him (smooth metal is difficult because of all the shadows and light,) which they still did a shitty job in the end. Cyborg's suit should be more like the comics...and that goes for Flash as well.

        Cyborg was meant to look like he hasn't figured himself out yet. He develops a more classic looking superhero look by shapeshifting later in the movie in the lab with his dad.
        Basically earns his stripes, which I think is cool as hell conceptually.

      Honestly, I've never seen what the issue is supposed to be with his CGI. I didn't see anything wrong with him, particularly since his mech parts are a liquid metal motherbox in human-like form.

I could totally see Aquaman having a similar "journey to the throne" vibe to it. Black Panther was great. The positive response is even greater. A Cyborg movie can't duplicate THAT. But the success of the Black Lightning TV show, is an example of how a Cyborg movie could work. People who say that WB/DC shouldn't try to compete with Marvel, are simply wrong. I'd argue that the handling of Justice League during pre and post production, proves that they didn't have enough competitive spirit. Hopefully they eventually get it.

Black Panther is the First MCU movie since CA Winter Soldier & Guardians of The Galaxy(2014) that I loved and enjoyed ! Even though it has a slightly predictable story, it takes the characters & plot seriously with enough humor(not forced), which Makes the other recent Disney-Marvel movies look like kid's movies(which most of them were with their brand of Cringe-worthy comedy😁).
BP stands out on it's own by establishing an interesting and sophisticated world from Wakanda's perspective while embracing culture mixed with great action, interesting characters and finally a GOOD Marvel Villain(since Loki) played delightfully by Michael B Jordan. Chadwick Boseman is great as King T'challa and Ryan Coogler successfully makes another good heartfelt movie!
Black Panther deserves the love and success it's getting & has become my favorite MCU SuperHero with this movie.
Hopefully, Avengers Infinity War will not be going back to the usual Marvel Forced Comedy formula of the past few years and adopts a more serious approach & if BP is any sign of what's to come, then it's going to be epic! 🙂

This movie was Amazing... Ludwig and his score was at Hans Zimmer level or probably better for this soundtrack. The Visuals the culture in this movie was amazing. In my opinion it’s the best Comic book movie in the last two years

Not surprised. The movie looks legit badass. That's the only reason I want to watch it. I don't care about SJW crap, or hype or anything. I just think the characters looks seriously cool design wise and from the trailers the action looks amazing. Very interested in see what's up with him since I know NOTHING about the character.
For a Cyborg movie to succeed they need to do the same. Make him look dope, badass and interesting.
I found Cyborg the coolest character in JL, mostly because Ray is a fenomenal actor but I found his anger and sadness legit compared to that of Superman in previous movies. I was used to a happy Cyborg but this change made sense, unlike character changes like Aquaman and Flash, they just seemed unjustified. Cyborg makes sense he feels and acts this way.

I found it underwhelming. Just another Marvel superhero flick, and honestly not one of the better ones, just average. Same level as IM3 for me (which I enjoyed).
Funny, if Snyder had not ruined the enter DCEU so badly, WB could have beat Black Panther to being the first black superhero blockbuster with Cyborg...

    I'm not talking about the nonsense DCEU plan post MoS. I'm saying they should have had a different, better plan that had a Flash movie made before Quicksilver debuted in that x-men movie, a Cyborg film before Black Panther, a multiverse film before marvel does it and introduce Darkseid before Thanos. The only thing they took advantage of was Wonder Woman, and that only stood out so much because the rest of the DCEU is so shitty.

Yeah Black Panther is Marvel's best film since The Winter Soldier, in my opinion.
It's about 97% serious with 3% jokes, maybe even less. It's a beautifully made film, it doesn't feel like the generic Marvel film. Michael B was a great Villain too, by far Marvel's best villain in their films (then again they don't have a high standard of antagonists lol).
Only issues I have are CGI by third act, maybe it's just the colours or texture, not sure but it looked video-gamey. And an emotional scene that didn't feel like enough, "umph".
It's in no way Logan or The Dark Knight level though.
