Composer shares photo from 'Aquaman' trailer scoring session? (update)

Update 2/14/18: Aquaman director James Wan told Jason Momoa News on Instagram that this post (which has since been deleted) "has nothing to do" with the Aquaman trailer.

Carlos Villalobos Jr. is a composer and last night on Instagram he revealed that he's working on the music for the upcoming Aquaman trailer.

"Trailer scoring heaven today #composer #studio #aquaman #oldfriends," Villalobos Jr. captioned his photo from inside his studio. You can see a new still of Jason Momoa as Aquaman from the trailer he has playing on the screen.

Expect the trailer to be finished soon. It's most likely coming next month, just in time to be played with big Warner Bros. releases like Tomb Raider and Ready Player One.

      Could’ve used more, though. Especially upset because I know about everything we lost - Vulko, the details of his getting his weapon and armor, etc. Also, his talk with Mera didn’t make a lot of sense. We need more background to understand what’s actually up with Aquaman.

      like many have said, this movie mostly appealed to fans. As someone who is familiar with the characters and lore, I could fill in the blanks on my own. Probably why it didn't bother me much. I don't think we need to absolutely everything about the guy in an introduction piece such as JL. MCU got everyone's standards of story telling backwards. Usually characters are introduced and then further expanded on later

      I’m not saying we need to know EVERYTHING, but he definitely could’ve used a BIT more screentime and a deeper exploration of his background. It just seems like an incomplete and under-developed use of the character, even as just an introduction. And we would’ve gotten that in the Snyder Cut. So that stinks. I doubt I would be as upset about it if I didn’t already know we were supposed to get much more, but were cheated.

Yet they never interfered with WW or MoS. Really though they never really interfered with BvS either, all they done was cut half hour off what actually made sense, a 3 hour poorly reviewed R-Rated Batman and Superman film would have bombed harder then JL. As for them messing around with SS and JL well blame BvS, that film didn't go down well with audiences so WB panicked like mad. Aquaman i expect will be treated like WW especially when James Wan is a far more reliable director then Snyder.

  This is the first time that I've seen anybody champion the cutting of Batman versus Superman, as if it saved the film, where as I've always heard that it is exactly what doomed the film. Interesting.

    They cut the wrong stuff granted but i can understand why WB didn't want a 3 hour R-Rated cut because it wouldn't have done well and it would make far less then a 150min PG-13 cut. WB greatest mistake was letting Snyder actually film a 3 hour R-Rated cut in the first place. End of the day BvS was doomed either way because its a shit film whats pretty diverse but i can assure you if the UC was released instead of what we had it would have performed worse .

      Fair enough. Although there is the argument that perhaps the critical reception would've at least been better, yeah, the box office would have definitely been worse. Worse than jail, I don't think. Simply because the opening numbers were so big. Just think what could have been, with the opening it had, and at least good legs, it could have passed 1 billion. It had terrible legs. Justice league had better legs, it's just hard way smaller numbers to work with. When you look at it, justice league did have better reviews than Batman versus Superman. Something about that kept people going to watch the movie I think. Too bad it wasn't enough to get them to go watch it in the first place.

I hear the Russo's just wrapped Avengers... perhaps they can come in and touch up Aquaman a bit. Maybe add conflict to the story thats never resolved or how about a hand-to-hand fight scene where Aquaman's strength is reduced to human level.

      Yeah, the problem was that it was going to be recalled in JL in two instances, once in the resurrection scene with Cyborg seeing something through the ship's computer, and another one when Steppenwolf tried to make Superman going to the dark side.
      It would have been a good call back and that the danger of going into full apocalipse was there, but alas it was negated to us -_-

      I'd argue that the scenes disconnect from the main "happenings" of BvS is the whole point.; it's a post-credit scene within the movie. I dont think we were supposed to understand more than what was shown.
      I thought it was a brave decision to include it.

  Zod was great, Faora was great, Luthor (while being controversial) had a great plan if flawed, Doomsday was a letdown, Enchantress was a letdown, Ares was great, and Steppenwolf was a letdown (which, one would argue that he should be to help bolster Darkseid's greatness). So i wouldn't be so quick to umbrella them all under horrible. Yes, some were less than wonderful. But some were actually really enjoyable to watch.

Would have loved to see another "Knightmare" scene. This is the most frustrating thing about Justice League, it's total disregard of this apocalyptic nightmare that they've setup.
A foreboding sense of dread is such a quintessentially comic-book thing to do and thinking about who's decision it was to leave it out, I can't for one second believe Geoff Johns would've been part of the team that decided against it.
My word... what a waste.

    They showed way too much for JL, and it didn't even pay off. Maybe it was a part of the problem. Every humerous scene was shown in the trailers. I don't remember laughing once in the theater.

    I really loved 2nd trailer for MoS. Despite the film being shit i do think SS trailers were pretty awesome what really helped sell the film. My favorite trailers for DCEU films are the WW trailers especially the 2016 Comic Con trailer.

Not exactly related to Aquaman, but you know what would be great? If directors worked in collaboration with the writers of the comics they take inspiration from. The comic writers understand the characters better than anyone. Like if Matt Reeves worked with Grant Morrison or Scott Snyder on a Batman movie.

Unfortunately, they already deleted the post for this.... but can't wait to hear what Carlos came up with and what Wan does. I imagine Wan has more free reign now with the character being that Snyder is no longer connected to it, if he so chooses. And I can't wait to see the classic suit. That'll definitely be one of my favorite things in this film. The pics and statuette look perfect with the gold and green. Old school orange and green works for me too if it has the same armor quality.

For me, it was Aquaman and Wonder Woman that I was looking forward to seeing most when DC was first talking about starting up films, so I'm definitely excited for this.

Well.. first off the shot looks like it was from Snyder’s cut of JL where he was doing the slow motion shot of each league member. It was in the second JL trailer I believe. Maybe he was putting together a trailer for JL and this was a while back. Or who knows?
