Latest 'Krypton' trailer teases Superman and his red cape

SyFy has released a new trailer for their upcoming Superman prequel, Krypton, and it directly teases the Man of Steel and his iconic red cape.

The new trailer kicks off with a shot of Superman's grandfather, played by Cameron Cuffe. "This cape belongs to your future grandson. He will become the greatest hero in the universe," a voice over says as Cuffe walks towards Superman's cape. Check out the new trailer above.

Krypton is executive produced by David S. Goyer. It premieres on SyFy on March 21st. Will you be tuning in? Let me know in the comments below.

I see they changed the S. It used to be more similar to MoS’s S, if I’m not mistaken. Guess they’re making it clear it’s not part of the DCEU.

Yeah when Goyer first talked about this series years ago he pitched it as a MOS prequel. But now there's no connection.

The MoS shield looks the way it does for a reason. :P
Oh well. At least it's a good indicator of whether or not I'll be into this show.

I thought the Krypton portrayed in MOS was interesting, from its visuals to its cultural structure - so I'd be in favor of that's what they're trying to do for this show. If not, then I'm not nearly as interested.

this series has so much going against it.

- nobody really cares about what happens with Superman's granddad (his father maybe, but his granddad?!)
- Krypton is not interesting enough of a setting (futuristic looking alien world where everyone looks human and don't have any powers)
- a prequel series where your entire focus is focusing on the present?! and with time travel involved to completely ruin the suspense?!

what is even the point of this? this is like the worst parts of Smallville only magnified (where they insert parts from Superman's future before he even decides to put on the costume)

this is one of the main reasons I stopped watching BatTeen: the series (AKA: Gotham)

I think the original idea was to do a political intrigue series set on an alien world that just happened to be Krypton. Someone along the way apparently told them to lean into the comics angle.

So, it’s connected to the Reeves Universe ? Or probably no Universe at all .. I see that they mixed the MoS emblem graphics to this S... overall it has that Zack Snyder Krypton vibe.

I’m on the fence about this.
I AM going to watch it.
But I’m iffy about the plot. I don’t like the time travel. I don’t like that it’s about Superman. I’d prefer for it to just be about the history of Krypton and have Kryptonian lore.
But I’ll still watch it and see if it catches my interest more.

*face palm* I know it is too early to really critic, but my "Warning Will Roger...Warning!!" alarm is going off. I give Snyder a lot of shit, but I will say, I loved his version of Krypton in MoS. It was like a cool fantasy movie inside another movie. I want that Krypton's story. This looks like a young cast, Vampire Diaries type, superhero CW drama.

Its better than "Metropolis" imo but man I don't get why DC TV is so infatuated with the idea of prequels and shows that have little to do with actual superheroes/characters we want to see(What was that show about living in a city with superheroes but its from the people's perspective? I don't even remember what it was called. Had Adam West in it I think). And can we move away from Batma.Superman stuff? Just like with Metropolis I am simply perplexed as to how exactly this show came to be. All the great characters and properties that deserve a show and this is what they choose...WHY. Meanwhile Marvel is bangin out dope shit like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the Punisher. When are we gonna get something like those shows with a bit more bite and edge like The Question or The Specter?Jonah Hex could be cool as well

You're thinking of Powerless.
The strength of DC is that they can have as many shows as they want with different "universes", without the need to follow a canon or the movies. And that is why you can have a Flash TV show. But it is still baffling to run Metropolis and Supergirl at the same time.
The gritty MarvelNetflix shows have quickly become boring, Black Lightning is better in the same tone.

  but thats the thing. We already have shows like Flash and Supergirl which are more lighthearted. Need something more gritty stuff to balance it out. I know there is Arrow but honestly I lost interest in arrow some time during season 4 and I am ready for something different personally. I also want something that feels different from the CW shows. The Netflix stuff just feels higher quality to me. I don't know exactly why. But all of the CW stuff, despite having different tones, all have a similar flavor in my opinion.

  Iron Fist and The Defenders are crap sure but The Punisher was fucking awesome, easily one of the best comic book shows out there.

    The punisher was pretty boring too. The best so far was dd season 1. Jessica jones is also great and had me hooked around ep 4 and up. Luke cage was the worst i must admit.

      I admit The Punisher could have done with more action but i was never bored watching it. I do agree that JJ is great though, really loved that show and Killgrave was an amazing villain.

      I think the problem with punisher wasnt the action, it was the story that bored me and the fact that he was pretty amateurish in it, compared to his involvement in dd. Idk i felt like he wasnt as bad ass like before. He was injured in every episode and didnt live up to his name, i was hoping for him to give up halfway because i didnt think he'll make it for season 2.

One of my favorite parts of MoS was the Krypton sequence and to finally get a series about Krypton is cool. I don't know much about Superman's story but I'm pretty excited about this.
