'The Dark Knight Trilogy' star Gary Oldman is interested in a Marvel role

The Dark Knight Trilogy star Gary Oldman may have his eye on a Marvel role for his next project.

While speaking to E! on the red carpet at the SAG Awards last night, Oldman was asked if he'd be interested in a Marvel role. "Well, Marvel haven't called me, but now that you've mentioned it, if they're tuning in...," he replied. Oldman's wife then chimed in and said that their 9 year old son asks him to do Marvel movies all the time. You can check out the video interview below.

I don't take it personally. Oldman is upfront about the fact that he takes roles for money. He knows that a Marvel role means a big paycheck.

British actors are known for being "working" actors. They don't hold out for mega stardom and more money then God. That being said...this is a lot of excitement over a quick comment on the red carpet. People need to take a breath.

An extemporaneous, unofficial comment on the red carper hardly means that the actor is seriously seeking a role with the Disney/Marvel studio. It is far more effective to simply reach out via his agent. Oldman does not cleave to the fan emotional attachment to franchises. And though his son may...this is another case of reading into an issue that isn't really an issue at all.

Lol I don't get the issue if he wants to be in a marvel film why can't he? I mean he did look straight at the camera when he made his comment and wouldn't that be kind of embarrassing for your agent to reach out to marvel for a role?!

  Who said Oldman can't be in any movie he wants? So I don't understand your first question. Secondly, there's no shame in the game when your agent/manager gets in the loop as to available/possible roles etc. So, embarrassing? No. Who would know and why would they care?

Nicolas Cage wants to do a marvel film as well. I though Nic Cage would be a great Kang and Oldman would be a great Galactus (now that Disney will soon own fox)
