Young actor Jack Dylan Grazer is jumping from one New Line movie to another. The IT star has been cast in Shazam as Freddy, Billy Batson’s best friend and the only person who knows the truth about Shazam.

In the comics, Batson can transform himself into an adult superhero by simply saying the word “Shazam!”. Billy Batson will be played by Asher Angel and Zachary Levi is Shazam.

Warner Bros. sister company New Line is making Shazam, though it will still be part of the DC Films Universe. It will be directed by David F. Sandberg and is expected to start shooting early next year. Shazam hits theaters in April 2019.

    So Zack Levi is comparing Shazam to GOTG, if it’s as good as the first movie then I’m all for it. It was only a matter of time before the DCEU brought in a different tone to their universe.

        You realize that whole "dance off" was a distraction right? Star Lord needed to buy time so him being him he done something what took Ronan off guard. As for "holding hands" you realize they were sharing the power of the Infinity Stone right? If they didn't hold hand then Peter would have died.

          the purpose of it was not the problem. It was a dance off. It was pretty freaking silly. I give it a pass though because Guardians knew what it was and the dance off felt in line with the rest of the movie. I dont want DC to start stooping to that level though in terms of how seriously they take the universe and the villains. I mean even GOTG to some extent felt like it was kind of its own thing.

          You know I actually think Winter Soldier is one of the best superhero movies ever and certainly better than anything Marvel has put out recently. I've enjoyed JL but it's not better than the Avengers, the build up to them and the pay-off was huge. I do however think that the final "battle" in the Guardians was executed in such a horrid way. They spend a lot of time building up this finale where lives are at stake and people are going to die but the climax of it all is a dance-off, cartoon level silliness. It's also really laughable how you're calling me a typical Snyder/DCEU fanboy for expressing dislikes for a particular scene from a Marvel movie, I didn't say they're all bad you troll. Even though I enjoy most of their flicks I can still find things that I dislike in them but that doesn't make me a hater, grow up. Basically, saying anything negative about a Marvel movie is sacrilege and I'm immediately painted as a DCEU fanboy. That was such a mature response from you.

            It's cool, it was an honest mistake. Props to you for owning up to that. And I mean, we live in a time where we get so many great comic book movies and tv shows, every side has something unique and different to offer, I enjoy them all. Definitely not every single movie/tv series, but a couple from each side. Same as with music, I feel it's foolish limiting yourself with only one style when there's so many great ones out there.

            Yeah i agree, i side with neither Marvel or DC as i love both, The Dark Knight is my favorite film and Winter Soldier/Civil War and Wonder Woman are 3 of the best comic book films i've seen in a very long time. I just get annoyed at the pointless Marvel bashing on here hence why i acted defensive to you, its now clear you like Marvel as well but that does seem a case on here.

            As for music yeah i have a wide selection of favorites, my phone has everything from Eminem to Pink Floyd for instance haha. Couldn't just stick with Rock where i also love film soundtracks, Pop and Dance for instance.

            Considering how random it was and the last thing Ronan expected then yeah i can totally but that would work for a few secs, its not like its out of character for Peter anyway. Anyway cry as both Guardians have outgrossed a JL film what has the Trinity in it, that's really bad.

    I don't really know this character... I've only seen him in a couple of books, like Public enemies, kingdom come and the first arc of the new 52 JL... He seemed fun in JL war. But more important, the fact that WB keeps adding to the cast just means that they have assumed JL's failure at the box office and just plan to keep going... let's hope they fire whoever has to be fired

      A good way to get to know the character is to read the comics. One good comic mini-series is called "Shazam!: The New Beginning" and I suggest it to anyone who doesn't know Captain Marvel/Shazam.

          It doesn´t help that he has been a missing character since the beginning of the new52. FreddyNew52 only turned one time into Captain Marvel Jr.; and there was the Freddy from Earth-5 in Multiversity, that´s all.

            Oh yeah, even Billy has been absent in Rebirth. It´s weird, he was a member of JL. I read he appeared in one issue of Hellblazer, but that´s all.

            Here's just a couple. Three of them are origin stories. "Whiz Comics #2" is the original. "Shazam!: The New Beginning" is a miniseries set after Crisis on Infinite Earths. "Shazam! (2013)" is a collection of New 52 Justice League backup stories. And another story I think is good for getting to know Captain Marvel/Shazam is "Shazam!: Power of Hope."

        I alluded to it down below. The only thing I need from this movie now is for whoever plays Mary Marvel to have great legs. 10-15 years ago I would have said Summer Glau in a heartbeat; now, I don't know.

    Good casting, he was one of the highlights in IT, he can handle comedy and drama very well. I also think it's very good they cast these kids who are actually kids to play their own age and not some 20 year olds going for 14 and 15 year olds lol

    Really looking forward to this. I hope Sandberg aces it.
