Probably never. I thought Flashpoint would show the Knightmare world, but from reading the JL deleted scenes, it sounds like they intended to cover that in JL

Those were probably for promotional purposes or a reference for the CGI team. They use those in animation all of the time.
He was amazing in the film. He deserves his own movie.
While I’m still a little bothered he doesn’t quite look like Barry Allen to me, his acting was great, he was funny, I really loved his personality, and I’ve never understood the complaints about his suit. Looking forward to more!

Antman didn't have to deal with the horseshit JL does. So that's irrelevant. You shouldn't be comparing it to other non DCEU films. You should be assessing the damage created by the previous DCEU films. That to me is the important thing here. The box office is what it is. The important thing now is to find solutions and identify issues.
This is a valid point. Movies like Ant-man have the benefits of the goodwill the MCU has. There have been several movies I thought were going to stall the engine, but each time I was proven wrong; even the ones I didn’t care for.
On the flip side, one of JL’s issues is its only goodwill is from WW. The DCEU movies have been profitable (with the Trinity in them, it’s no surprise), but that doesn’t mean they’re well received.
I’m betting if both JL & Ant-man were released in 2007, the insect is getting squashed and we’re talking about how the League owns the theatre.

I agree. Just to echoes my comments from earlier, it's amazing how the MCU films are so profitable. We can agree that some of their films should've been stinkers at the box office, but it's like audiences refuse to let that happen.
We can agree that the franchise is getting stale with its formula, but audiences will still eat anything that Marvel puts on the big screen. You gotta applaud that.
It's because there have not been any truly terrible movies in the MCU. There have been a lot of average and maybe one or two bad movies. But never anything like SS and BvS (the cinematic cut at least). They expect the movies to be at least ok.

Marvel's worst movie, The Incredible Hulk is still a masterpiece when compared to either Mos, BvS, and certainly SS. Stop fanboying.

AoU and IM 3 are bad movies. IM 2 is a bad film and so is Incredible Hulk and couple other films. SS is straight up dog shit. It's the only movie I have ever walked out of.
AoU and IM 3 almost made me walk out. The only reason why I didn't was because I was with my dad and he had paid for the tickets.
They are still not even close to being as bad as SS. That movie is cinematic dog shit. I have no idea how anyone would have the balls to release such a terrible "thing".

AoU is a good, well-received film in general. If it were bad, it wouldn't have made $1.4B at the BO. It gets a lot of flack for not measuring up to the first Avengers, but it was still an entertaining film.
If there is anything that Blade runner 2049 and Transformers and even Jurassic World have taught us is that the B.O. doesn't necessarily correlate to movie quality. Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time. It's nowhere near the best film.

It’s no surprise; 25 movies (1 is unofficial) into the Bond franchise and the formula hasn’t turned audiences away. Eight movies into the Fast & the Furious franchise (which apparently by some people’s definition here have become comedies for kids) and the formula hasn’t turned audiences away. Same with the Indiana Jones, Star Wars, & Star Trek movies. It wasn’t the formula of the Batman movies in the 90s that turned audiences away.
The MCU takes hits here a lot for having a formula, but it’s nothing new. Hell, Wonder Woman felt like it was cut from the Reeve/Superman movies formula.

I actually disagree with you on this one. I think the James Bond films only survived because of how different the newer films are. I think formula hurts in the long run. Star Wars isn't as formulaic as one would think. It has basic story points in every movie but before episode 7, it was never really as formulaic as the MCU. Neither is Star Trek. The MCU is by far the most formulaic of the series you presented imo. And honestly, it's my one major gripe with the entire thing.
I think the newer Bond movies have three-card monte the formula, but all the same beats are there.
They have the James Bond flavor. But unlike the MCU for example. I could never see any of the other bonds in Casino Royale, or Skyfall. Where as, I always feel like most MCU films are palette swaps. And because of how similar every mcu hero is, I could see them all having the same journeys, stories and movies.
Hmm, my gut reaction is “Connery could”, as Craig’s Bond most reminds me of his. I’m not 100% certain Connery could though.

I had the same initial reaction too. But what made me believe that Connery could not do it is by thinking in reverse. I tried picturing Craig in the Connery films and tbh I could not see it. I think they are different enough that it never really feels like the same exact character but they also have that Bond charm that doesn't alienate past viewers and fans . I don't think Craig could do Connery's films, just like I can't see Connery doing Craig's.
I could absolutely see Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Sean Connery, and Daniel Craig swapping between almost any of their movies.
Roger Moore could probably do it too, even if we're not used to that level of intensity from him. I'd have loved to have seen that actually...
Though I will argue that what separates those franchises' formulas from the MCU's is that audiences are following the same characters in each film. In a Bond film, you're always following James Bond, so you know what to expect. Same with Indian Jones and the Fast & the Furious films. It's the same characters.
With the MCU, one film you're gonna be following Stark. In another it's GotG or Thor. But there's no distinction between the films. Despite these various characters, the MCU films still feel the same way. That's why many consider Winter Soldier to be the best film because it tried to distinguish itself form the rest of the pack.
I disagree. I don’t look at the MCU as being composed of multiple franchises. I see it as all one franchise. Different characters take focus, but the same universe. It’s why maintaining consistency makes sense.
I recall reading Flash the same time I was reading JLA and felt the interpretation of West was inconsistent.
Or when I railed Marvel for feeling more like separate universe. Some how Thor’s title had mass devastation in NYC, but nothing seen or mentioned in the other titles for the NYC characters.
That’s why I don’t have an issue with the MCU formula.
Bond is an interesting case because it’s the same character, but with different actors. It seems, aside from OHMSS, each time a new actor started his run, they tried to tweak the formula, but always side right back into it.
I’m not sure even following the same characters makes the formula less stale. I realized with Fast8 how much I’m not interested in Fast9, Hobbs spinoff, & Fast10.
Bond is also interesting because with Craig's Bond, at least in my opinion, trying to go more classic ended up hurting the films. His run is so different from the others that when they went more classic with Spectre people didn't really enjoy it as much as they did the other ones imo.
Craig’s run does feel the most different because of the reboot they positioned Casino Royale to be. The other’s always felt like a continuous timeline.
I think the idea of bringing back SPECTRE was cool, but mishandled. The Sony hack revealed Blofled was originally going to be Bond’s uncle. That sucked & im glad the hack made them alter. The connection they came up with was only slightly better, but still unnecessary.
I think the real issues were SPECTRE just felt like Quantum (which was just filling SPECTRE’s place). It made the concept feel like a rerun.
And I recall watching Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and thinking it was going to hurt SPECTRE later in the year.
I just remember feeling like Spectre didn't fit Craig's character. His Bond is for a lack of better word the grounded Bond. The movie just felt like it was made for a different Bond because Craig was such an amazing grittier Bond that the more classic Bond aesthetic and story didn't really fit his journey imo. It's no coincidence that the most "serious" and realistic Bond movies in the Craig films also happen to be the best ones and some of the best Bond movies ever overall.
I personally rank Casino Royale as my favorite Bond film ever. This is why I don't consider the Bond films to be as formulaic as the MCU. Even movies that have the same character feel different enough that they manage to remain recognizable while being different enough to remain fresh. Something I feel is sorely lacking from the MCU (with a couple of exceptions of course).
“Favorite Bond movie” always trips me up, like “what’s your favorite movie.” I always have to break it down to specific genres. For Bond, specific actors. Thunderball, The Spy Who Loves Me, GoldenEye, & Skyfall would have to be my entries. Brosnan still is my favorite Bond. I think he encompasses the unique characteristics of all the prior Bond actors.
I don't know man. Craig's Bon appealed to me more than any other. Craig and Casino Royale are my favorite.
He looked more like what Fleming described him in the novels, but Brosnan always seemed to own the “gentlemen Spy” look. His quips seemed more natural.
Of course, that could be a side effect of having watched him as Remington Steele.
Brosnan is good "classic" Bond. The suave slightly campy Bond. But as far as performance and movie quality goes. I feel like Craig nails the Fleming character while also appearing the best movies imo.
The first GOTG was totally unique, dude. It was much more comical and just out there than anything that had come before it. Ragnarok is also very different from the first two movies in the franchise. Doctor Strange didn't feel trite to me, either.
Doctor strange is a fucking carbon copy of Ironman in terms of the main characters personality, arc and story...
Feige said recently that they have 20 movies lined up for Phase 4, and they will be very different to those we got. So they're smart enough to realize that they need to change it up.
They literally say the same thing before every damn movie. Every damn time they say this one is different. And it never is. It all feels the same. Regardless of the character, you could picture any of these films starring any other hero imo.
BvS and Mos killed DC. The brand is basically plugged to a life machine. WB. should rename DC and kill off all their characters and start fresh with new superheros.

More to the point though. Marvel made in 2016 about $200M in comic books sales. Nothing to sniff at, no doubt, but it's the equivalent of a single CBM release. In my eyes, this is the perfect way to start the Flash. Because you give him a very likable personality which you can change and grow through each movie. I think it's a very smart move. I think that with more experience the Flash will grow into the adult we know and love. And I'd rather see that on film than just have him be the mature developed character from the start.

It's not a reach. Barry being in a crime lab when he gets struck by lighting means he was already a good guy, helping society. He didn't need powers to help, he worked with the police. This barry helps cause he can, not because he wants to help people.
I don't like it because it's obvious this is one of those things they didn't think through, they just did something and then they'll see how to fix it when they have to. There's no continuity in these movies.
In BvS we see cyborg being transformed by the motherbox before the final battle, yet in JL he says his dad got the motherbox AFTER superman died... same with barry, they just decided he was gonna be a kid without even considering how he got his powers
The whole point of the brunch thing was that he is so fast that sitting in line for an hour doing nothing just to get brunch is impossible for him because of how fast his mind is. He doesn't have friends because of the type of person he is. He's obsessive about his dad's case like his dad told him. He obviously doesn't care about anything other than figuring out his powers helping people and helping his dad. That's why he is a loner. He doesn't help people because he can. He does it because he wants to. He has no reason to help other people. None. All he would be doing is exposing himself by helping and yet he still does it. He got his powers after being struck by lighting. That's an easy thing to show. He's in university studying engineering or forensics or any sciene. He could easily be in a lab when lightning strikes that's not an issue.

I'm hoping he gets a new suit in Flashpoint. This suit was fine for now, but in the long run, it's not going to cut it.
I mean I think that the whole point of it being a completely homemade and flimsy design pieced together with wires is that the suit is meant to be replaced in the future.

I remember that too. I wonder if the VFX guy just didn't see it - he did say he was just kind of in the room, and that his buddies were the ones working on JL. His work includes WW and Aquaman iirc.
the vfx guy was a fake for sure! created his reddit account just for an AMA that could have put his job on Aquaman at risk? yeah right lol people are so naive. All he managed to do was start a new rumour that Kiersey Clemmons may be recast. Thats all he accomplished. I call bs on the whole thing
