Warner Bros. has released their electronic press kit for Justice League this weekend. We got 60 hi-res images, 9 video interviews, and now the complete set of clips has been released as well.

The first clip below features Gordon meeting with Batman and the Justice League. As we see Batman standing on a gargoyle looking down at Gordon, we hear Danny Elfman's classic Batman theme playing!

Some fans may want to avoid these clips since we’re so close to the movie’s November 17th release date, but if you’re craving for some more footage you’ll definitely get your money’s worth below!

Justice League hits theaters on November 17th. Tickets are available now.

I agree. I kinda like Elfman's theme, not a huge fan, but to me it sounded weird with Affleck's Bats, idk, it just made me remember of Keaton's. I'd rather Junkie's BvS theme.

To be fair, it's just one shot a couple of seconds long. I'll bet that when people get fully immersed in Danny Elfman music for the entire 2hours, they'll soon warm up to the idea.

Yeah, it makes sense. Perhaps watching the movie we get used to what he created/customized for the movie. At first, I didn’t like, but I hope JL to get an epic soundtrack.

Watched the first clip, but not the others. I think the Elfman theme fits perfectly. We may have reached a point of confirmation bias though, where some of us will love it and some of us will hate it no matter what.

Also, Commissioner Gordon showing the sketch of the "potential perp" is pretty campy, no? Reminded me of Pat Hingle's Gordon showing Batman the security footage of Poison Ivy and Bane in "Batman & Robin."

It makes sense to me if you want to transition the character from being full of misdirected anger and despair (as he was throughout most of "Batman v. Superman") to a character who has rediscovered his inner hero (as implied at the end of the film).

I liked "Batman v. Superman" a lot more than the critics did, and I loved the Zimmer/Junkie XL theme. But Batman's theme in that movie was bleak and foreboding. I don't think that would work in Justice League.

This is how I'm hoping I'll feel like about the classic theme in JL but atleast in this clip it just felt so distracting to me. The batscores of the Burton movies are among my favourite soundtracks (Descent Into Mystery is my all time favourite piece from Elfman) and I think that's what my problem is with hearing the 89 theme here. To me it simply feels tacked on because hearing a score that you associate with something else than the film you're watching tends to divide your attention. I'm sure a lot of people will love how Elfman brings on the classics but so far it seems like I'll be disappointed with the JL score. It's weird and I'm hoping I'm wrong since I've been a huge fan of Elfman for the longest time, I want him to deliver something that'll enthrall me like the stuff he did for most of the Burton movies. Hell, even Planet Of The Apes had a great soundtrack but so far what I've heard of JL score I'm left lukewarm.

It had to be an updated theme for sure. But Elfman’s Batman and Williams’ Superman themes don’t fit these renditions. Least not to me.

it makes no sense, because the Batman in burton films also killed a lot, checkmate, i out of place and a forced wink to the audience and appealing to nostalgia

Who said anything about killing? Batman in BvS wasn't less heroic than his Burton counterpart because he killed some bad guys. He was less heroic because he was trying to kill Superman.

The clip where Bruce expresses how the team need Superman all but confirms that reddit guy ViewerAnon's spoilers regrettably.

But despite that, ALL these clips were awesome. LOVE how Wonder Woman's superspeed looks like Faora's from MOS.

Aquaman's ENTRANCE was badass as hell.... And for what it's worth, Danny Elfman using his Batman theme is starting to grow on me. Though I still think it's sad he won't even touch what Zimmer and Junkie did.

    2. Seb Avatar

Because the Junkie Batman Theme is by far the worst cinematic Batman theme ever. I'd gladly choose nostalgia over whatever sad excuse of a theme Junkie came up with.

      1. Manque Avatar
        Manque

I agree that Junkie's theme was horrendous, and I think its great that a lot of people are cool with the old school theme, but personally I find it extremely lazy. I was so distracted by it I could barely appreciate the beautiful images.

        1. Seb Avatar
          Seb

Fair enough, I too would have preferred a new theme, but if I am to choose between Elfman's classic score and Junkie's glorified noise? I'll always pick the former. Besides, it "sort of" fits Batman's arc in JL, as in it's a return to form for his character, post BvS. He's back to his old ways, so it works if you look at it that way.

      2. Rautasusi Avatar
        Rautasusi

Junkie's actual theme for Batman is actually very solid and fits this darker caped crusader perfectly. What didn't work quite as well though was the noisy arrangement of the theme that was overused in BvS. Here, jump to 4:45 for Junkie's actual Batman theme without the bombastic "Blaargh! Bla-bla-bla-blaargh!" drowning everything. The melody is hauntingly beautiful.

        https://youtu.be/ShTw1x2Lsrc

        1. Seb Avatar
          Seb

Zimmer did that part, actually. And it's still very basic. No usage of woodwinds, simple motifs characterized by homophony, basic progressions, no contrapuntal writing or use of inner voices, etc.
The melody is semi-decent at best, but there's nothing there. It's just the skeleton, it doesn't have any meat whatsoever.
They could have done something good with it, but frankly, neither Junkie nor Zimmer have the compositional skill to do so, and they would be the first to tell you that.

          1. Rautasusi Avatar
            Rautasusireplying to Seb

Zimmer specifically said he wouldn't compose anything for Batman in BvS, that's what he brought Junkie into the project for. So no, Zimmer probably did not do the part that happens to be Batman's theme :P

Anyways, different folks different strokes I guess. To me the melody fits Batman's character in BvS perfectly; dark, brooding, melancholic and sort of damaged.

P.S. Too bad they didn't pamper you and your love for the woodwinds ;P

          2. Seb Avatar
            Sebreplying to Rautasusi

Yes, he did. He said so during interviews that the idea INITIALLY was for Junkie to do all of the Batman stuff, but in practice, Hans did the "quieter" parts, while Junkie focused on the action stuff.

          3. Rautasusi Avatar
            Rautasusireplying to Seb

I stand corrected then. This actually makes me a lot less salty about Junkie having been booted from JL since all the good stuff on BvS score seems to be from Zimmer.

            Sebreplying to Rautasusi

I think an insider confirmed that Zimmer did end up doing some (most?) of the work for Batman in the film, Junkie didn't end up doing as much as you might expect.
For the record I believe it was said that Hans also enjoyed BvS, if that means anything to anyone (source: Hans' official website).

On nostalgia level, yeah, hearing old Batman's theme is great. I would like to hear JL animated theme as well. They have already used MoS Superman theme in the trailer, so I assume it will be in the movie at some point. Or if they don't go totally heavy on nostalgia and bring old Supe's theme when they resurrect him.
All in all, there are three good composers since MoS. I hope they used all of them, why we have to choose one.

Good stuff. You can see they were aware of the poor cgi at times and dealt with it with simple blurring, cutting and covering... Smart.
Also, I loved to hear Elfman's classic Batman theme. Can't understand why so many people are mad about it, it's not like Junkie and Zimmer had composed a masterful theme for him in BvS (for the contrary). Does it feel like fan service? Yeah, it does. But I'm a fan and I want service, simple as that (as long as it's not stupid and out of place like most of BvS's fan service).

not really, Originally he looked like a big yellow guy in green cape and clothes with an extremely long pointy hat. Like an elfs hat. Anyway I'm mixed, points for originality but mixed on all that grey, would love some reds and black in there. points for the red tips on the sharp armor tips though like his helmet.

YES!!! although he didn't really have facial hair, that was added in the cartoons which stuck on his characters. He looked like he was younger than Darkseid instead of being his older uncle so they added it. Uncles have beards, which is true because I have one and am an uncle.

Lol it is but both are military men of ancient powerful warlords/kings in space so I'm not surprised. I do like that they mixed Steppenwolf original alien like skin tone and features but kept the modern armor, and that thick barb like beard is a plus. I don't know why but I get a Legend of Zelda vibe from both of these designs.

I know Thanos looks amazing! I geeked out first time I saw him. My guess
is that they mixed both version of SW for reach a medium. I can see why
they went for alien instead of human look considering the New Gods are
aliens in a sense. Although Clark is alien but he looks human, it's
really weird at this point. Anyway Thanos never had a face change and
he'll never need one, he's great the way he is like Darkseid, Mandrakk,
Anti-Monitor, Galactus, Living Tribunal, The Watchers, pretty much all
the heavy hitters. SW wasn't a heavy hitter back then as much as a
supporting character until future comic releases. That being said SW is
still a mix bagged for me, points for originality, like the armor
although too much wave, love the red tips, but less grey and more
black/red hints of yellow maybe dark yellows. Thanos look is 9/10 for
me, armor seems to thick for him but man that size and chin, thumbs up! I
need for screen time for each for final verdicts. I'm liking things so

            That's a very dumb excuse.

A character's height is a far lesser problem than a CGI mess. There are ways to make actors look taller than they are. Bane worked and he wasn't as tall as in the comics. Apocalypse worked and he wasn't as big as in the comics.

Something is off about the music in these scenes...almost like they weren't designed for this movie and just thrown in as an afterthought. Junkie's score was made with Zack's scenes in mind because they gelled well, since that's how Zack wanted them. Now it's Zack scenes with music that doesn't work at all. This just sounds completely out of place. Batman's theme is rad Elfman, but doesn't change the soundtrack not sounding memorable or fitting the aesthetic of the movie.
