on Rumor: WB's waiting for 'Justice League' response before moving forward with 'Flashpoint'

A few days ago, Jeffrey Dean Morgan smiled nervously when asked about playing Batman in Flashpoint, but according to a new rumor we may have to pump the brakes a bit on that movie.

On the Meet The Movie Press podcast, Variety reporter Justin Kroll said that he's heard that Warner Bros. has slowed their Flashpoint director search down. They want to wait and see what the response to Justice League is before moving forward with movies like Flashpoint. You can check out Kroll's comments in the video below at the 28:02 mark.

If this rumor is true, I can understand where Warner Bros. is coming from. Flashpoint will include a lot of characters from Justice League and if audiences don't respond well to that movie it wouldn't make sense to give them even more of that world.

Warner Bros. will have plenty of time to think that over, though. Flashpoint is still years away. Shazam, Wonder Woman 2, and Suicide Squad 2 are all expected to go into production in 2018.

Let me know what you think about this rumor in the comments below.

It's like they don't think Flash can hold his own solo movie so they use other characters to support it

I doubt that Flash is one of their more popular characters and is a staple of the Justice League and has one of the most successful DC shows on tv

Agreed. but why would they make such a crowded Flash movie? Feel like the next Flash movies would feel a lot simpler and empty after starting with Flashpoint.

This would also push the film into at least 2020, so how about no.

That is literally 100% imposable if WB doesn´t care about searching for a director yet. (Not that i believe it.) Director´s do not just shoot films. They are there from day 1 ideally, aka. the per-production stage. Watch the 60 hour long appendixes for LotRs and the Hobbit to see how block busters are made and how long it takes.

        1. Canucks Fan Avatar
          Canucks Fan

They have directors that they've been talking to it's only a matter of signing one like the article says they're probably waiting to see the reception of Justice League. As for the LotRs and the Hobbit those movies are massive in scale yes Flashpoint could be done in that scale but i bet it gets scaled down to simply a solo movie so those comparisons to how long it will take are useless for now. We don't know fully what is being said behind closed doors they could easily have one close to being signed so just be patient it will happen and it shouldn't matter whether it's 2019 or 2020 as long as the movie is great just be patient.

There is no way that Flashpoint (aka. JLA 1,5) can be done on a small scale and 200+ mil films don´t just get shit out in 18 months. WB just doesn´t do that, period.
The Flash film has been in active per-production for a year too, so some of the work can be reused. WB would lastly have never dropped the film´s existence themselves this summer if the didn´t really care about making the film as this "report" says.

Anybody concerned about JL low first weekend projections keep in mind that Thor comes out first and people that brought their tickets for Thor probably are waiting till after it releases to buy their tickets for JL I see it going around $155-165 million opening weekend of the movie is a smash with critics it will make a lot of money like WW did maybe not a billion but with all the controversy JL has a battle since the beginning to achieve that. I feel WB is more concerned with the critical reception and I don’t see how it won’t be received well since it’s a simple plot , all it needs to do is have epic action and beautiful visuals and tell the story in a straight forward matter. Me personally I expect more from my DC movies I love the philosophical approach I don’t care for simple plots or just action and comedy but I understand where they are coming from so far from what I seened trailers, and TV spots everything looks great and I’m more hyped then ever before .....if Superman doesn’t get the black suit I’m a be pissed tho lol

I feel where you coming from but when a majority of the marketing of this movie has come from bad publicity it leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth and some people’s are worried about that , I’m not cuz I have more faith then that especially since WB can’t afford to have any setbacks so I’m sure they are working hard to deliver a great movie for us

What marketing of this movie has been from bad publicity that the average movie goer cares about? I think long before this point, the niche fans already made their minds up about the movie. I think Joe Shmoe doesn’t know any of the ‘behind-the-scenes’ stuff.

Why does everyone here thinks flashpoint is going to reboot Dceu or something, the last time i checked..non of the characters had changed when barry fixed the timeline atleast in the flashpoint paradox animated movie and even with the Tv show no major characters were changes aside some babies, don't know of the comics though. Also the average viewer has zero inside stories unlike fans and they bring in the bulk of the cash, i did a little survey at my work place asking de stuff about JL and thor which one are they seeing next month and they all go like Justice League...why???...because they only see what trending and currently that is JL with all the TV spots and trailers. My point is few of the average movie goers follow these stories and rumors, i for one google JL news every 3 hrs or so, that why i know alot about the backend stories, trust me..millions of movie goers dnt hv the time to do that and WB know that, i just wonder why most people think flashpoint it to reboot something, someone point me to a WB link that state that flashpoint is for that, might convince me aside that i get i always laugh when i see people fueling their own theories as facts

      1. razorstar90 Avatar

https://uploads.disquscdn.c... An actual Flash solo movie, Man of Steel 2, and Justice League 2, should OBVIOUSLY be the main priorities. Sometimes making the conventional and logical choice, is actually the correct move! LOL WB/DC Films, still seem like they're struggling with that concept, behind the scenes. But a decently reviewed and received Justice League movie, along with at least close to 900 million at the box-office, will give them more confidence.

Actually having the entire Justice League anything less then a billion is a failure in my opinion and I’m sure WB feels the same way especially since Avengers made a billion ...the problem here is that they built up to the first avengers movie and it was an event that nobody did before since day one Justice League was a rushed attempt and honestly I can’t blame WB for that I was happy that they didn’t do it the same way as Marvel and we get these movies sooner but now look at the problem we in

If this is true, the logic is wonky as fuck. If JL under-performs it won't be a condemnation of the characters or the Justice League as a concept, it'll be because the film just wasn't very good. If you've lost faith in the JL, then you've basically lost faith in the shared universe concept as a whole. They'd be giving up on the property with the biggest box office potential, aside from maybe Batman.

Warner will keep making movies in that franchise, this is a pointless post about a rumor.

Now it is true that Warner has so many DC projects that they can't all get made, maybe they are waiting to see reactions to the Flash *himself* (and Ezra Miller's performance) before producing a solo movie.

I meant the assumption that this runtime was “imposed” by the studio heads.
All of the cast, the producer, and WB president have made it very clear that Joss is carefully working within the bounds of what Zack wanted. And Zack hired him initially before he even left, so the influence is strong and certain.

It does not prove it is Zack'e runtime just because
Zack said the film he planned will be shorter than BvS.

The film is about to be released and Zack is saying nothing.

Are you joking, friend? Go look at the credits. Zack Snyder is the sole director and has a writing credit. His wife and Chris Terrio are producers. Long-time Zack Snyder film editor David Brenner has an editor credit.

Then there’s the fact that Zack Snyder has in fact been promoting the film. He’s even been posting behind-the-scenes pics in celebration each day before release.

Plus there’s all the other proof of the fact that JL is still Zack Snyder’s movie...
The article regarding Zack Snyder’s original announcement of his stepping down from Justice League shows that, according to him and WB President Toby Emmerich, he was not removed in order for Joss Whedon to come in and “fix his mess,” but rather, he chose to leave due to family tragedy; Warner Bros. wanted Zack to finish the movie himself, even offering to delay it, but he decided to leave the final touches to Joss; he had already chosen Joss himself to write for additional scenes, before deciding to have him direct them, too; what was left to do was minimal; and what was left to do was a course set by Zack and had to adhere to “the style and tone and template that Zack set”:
            https://batman-news.com/201...
In this article, producer Charles Roven confirms in more detail how Joss’ role came about - Zack had already hired him to do writing for the additional scenes he wanted, and when he stepped down as director he “convinced [Joss] ... to step in and finish the movie and help Zack finish his vision” by taking the director duties of those scenes, as well:
            https://batman-news.com/201...
The interviews from the stars here show that Zack had major involvement with the film; that it is his movie, and “Joss only did a few weeks of reshoots” as “Zack’s guy [who] knew exactly what he wanted to get [because Zack] has a beautiful vision”; that the cast seems intensely loyal to and appreciative of Zack; that the movie was not becoming The Avengers, but that Joss came in and finished the movie as his own director while still “walk[ing] a very fine line between Zack’s sensibility, tone, and direction”; and that everyone had shown up to work for Zack, ultimately:
            https://batman-news.com/201...
This interview with Charles Roven explains the issues of the Justice League reshoots, and it has nothing to do with their being an extensive restructuring of the movie, but rather, much more simply, schedule conflicts and time issues:
            https://batman-news.com/201...
At Comic-Con, the whole cast showed loads of love and support for Zack, especially Ray Fisher, who even wore an “I <3 ZS” shirt and at one point stated the reshoots were just about done, “brief if anything,” and saying Zack had chosen well with Joss:

Zack is not promoting this film. His behind the scenes photos are nothing more than behind the scene curiosities and not the standard film promotion he has done ion the past. The studio is paper-overing as best they can that Zack is off this project trying to have it both ways as to not upset Zack's fans. Public statements are publicity and not Gospel. Zack did not have final cut and that is the final word.

          8. NinjaGamer13 Avatar
            NinjaGamer13replying to Robert Palmar

As far as we know, this is Zack’s movie. Final word. No good reason to doubt it. That’s just the facts.

          9. BugsMeany Avatar
            BugsMeanyreplying to NinjaGamer13

There has been a good deal of new footage since Snyder left. (Joss Whedon wrote enough material to get a screenplay credit.) Even if David Brenner is “his guy,” Snyder hasn’t been in the edit bay with him, preparing the final cut.

That doesn’t mean JL is Whedon’s film. It’s murky. Do you honestly think the movie we’ll see is exactly what Snyder would have made if he hadn’t departed?

Btw, posting BTS photos on social media isn’t the same as doing a press tour. (Ftr I don’t think Whedon will be doing interviews either.) In fact Snyder is promoting the Vero platform—he’s a “brand ambassador” for it—as much as he is the film.

          10. NinjaGamer13 Avatar
            NinjaGamer13replying to BugsMeany

Zack hired Joss to write additional scenes - scenes Zack wanted. And then, when he had to step down due to the family tragedy, he chose to have Joss take over as director of those scenes, as well. So a lot or all of what Joss has done was presumably in Zack’s plan. I think someone said Joss must have written one third, according to the crediting rules or whatever. That’s a fairly sizable amount, but when it is at least partly under Zack’s supervision and entirely under Zack’s vision? Little to no difference. This is a Zack Snyder movie with the finishing touches done as Joss Whedon’s version of a Zack Snyder movie. So it’s a Zack Snyder movie.

            BugsMeanyreplying to Robert Palmar

Indeed. I try not to be too cynical but the quotes @NinjaGamer13 pasted are of the “What did you expect them to say?” variety. Of course the actors and producers will say the reshoots were minimal, that Zack planned all of this in advance, everything is how he would have done it, etc. They’re not liars, but they have a job to do and a message to stick to.

            Robert Palmarreplying to BugsMeany

Exactly Bugs. I try not to be too cynical myself but we have seen this kind of "publicity" before and your characterization is excellent, that of "What do you expect them to say?" which is precisely what we are seeing here. And they all have a job to do as you say and no doubt been issued their talking points to keep everyone on the same page anticipating all the questions everyone will be taking.

            NinjaGamer13replying to Robert Palmar

And due to the fact that there is no good reason from a business perspective to be as hardily embracing Zack Snyder’s name and vision (due to his last two films being divisive) as they are, one must assume they are being honest.

I wonder if a Flashpoint movie would be done to reset the whole Universe or if it would be to move the same Universe forward.
Also, is SS2 supposed to come out before The Batman? (I'm so lost now with where each movie is at)
I was doing the movie count with John Johnson the other day and it's about 20 films they have talked about. It's crazy.

I'm hoping they're not gonna use Flashpoint as a rebooting tactic. I agree with Schuyler that it'll be more expensive and confusing to do so.

I think Flashpoint has the potential to be a standalone Flash movie that showcases his ability to time-travel, and can just be a wacky adventure he goes on in order to learn the hard way not to mess with timelines. Even though the book kicked off a completely new universe, the movie doesn't have to, and can be bookended with the current movie universe people.

Don't you prefer movies that aren't based on comics and have an original story, like the Burton movies and the first 2 Nolan movies? (TDKR borrows too much from Knightfall imo)

I do, but I think a Flashpoint movie in this universe will have a whole lot of characters and details that need to be left out; and that would, essentially, make it stand apart from the book outside of "Barry tries to save his mom, ends up in a strange timeline with a Thomas Wayne Batman and a very different Wonder Woman (since she's been confirmed already), and fixes everything by stopping Reverse Flash and then himself. Life returns to normal until Darkseid shows up."

I did like that Snyder used a handful of different stories for BvS, as well as Nolan for his trilogy. I like seeing elements of source materials, but not exact live-action duplicates.

Yeah, they are gonna simplify Flashpoint a lot probably. But I think they are jumping the gun by doing flashpoint first. Feels like they don't think Flash can handle his own movie.
And the next Flash movie would feel a little empty and simple without such a complex and crowded story. They gotta build up to these cool massive things cause they won't be able to maintain their standards

For many people it was still a disappointing movie that had too much in stake. Establishing a shared universe introducing a new batman and having him meet superman for the first time and fight plus the wonder woman first appearance. Snyder tried to do too much and with the 3 of the most iconic characters from the comics couldn't even reach a billion after TDK trilogy monster. I would say that was worst than some lame movies that no one really cared as much as this one.

        1. Knight-Errant Avatar

I agree it was disappointing. The only 2 characters I really care about in DC, Batman & Lex, were the two characters I couldn’t stand. It’s part of the reason I’m going to Netflix Justice League.

Should it have crossed a billion? I don’t know. If it reached a billion, should it have beaten Marvel’s Avengers? I don’t know that either. Maybe it did what it did only because of the 3 most iconic comic characters. If they were any other 3 characters, it might’ve done less.

It’s all speculation at this point.

Batman was fresh on people's memories with TDK trilogy a billion dollar success so there's really no excuse for being short of a billion in the box office.

I’m certain that’s why they went the older Batman route; capitalize on the “older” Batman in TDKR. Also fresh on people’s minds was MoS. I loved the characterization of Kent & 2/3rds of that movie, but it had mixed reviews. Plus, I question how many general audience members were intrigued by the notion of the 2 fighting as opposed to teaming up. I’m also not certain how much GA members really cared it was their first movie meeting.

If they aren’t happy with the movie, do they really care it’s the first meeting? Plus, some people, for some reason, have critics dictate what they see.

Older batman was the wrong decision in my opinion. Not only does it cut a big part of batman's journey as it makes the universe only starting to develop with batman close to retirement which imo is damaging the future the dc universe. General audience are as dumb as some people like to believe they just want good movies with heroes where they can experience the awesomeness of this characters. You start giving characters stories that diverge of the concepts already established in years of the characters existence especially in the beginning of the cinematic universe and you will get bad results.

I have more issue with the casting then presenting an older Batman. I had just watched Gangster Squad when the rumor started Josh Brolin was being considered. I thought they’d be great casting for an older Batman.

I think they should hold off going back to the Bat-well right now. If you want to develop the B, C, & D-characters, you need to spotlight them. Batman is the only character you could probably get away with casting with a nobody. People will see the movie just for the character.

I HATE doing the studio comparisons, but what has impressed me the most with a Marvel Studios is that they’ve been able to get a fan base for characters I thought for sure would be clunkers in theatres. Hell, I had to research the GotG because I never read a comic with them. Marvel Studios only now got access to its top character (unfortunately, I thought the movie was a solid C+/B-). Almost 10 years into their universe.

They should show batman like they did with the Justice league animated series where he would show up and then leave because he was a part timer, it helped to showcase other characters more. Batman also should not be OP he's only human I don't want to see him fighting toe to toe with Steppenwolf.

Well, it's like I said, when you cater to family friendly films, you're more than likely have guarantee success. They decided to pump triple A budget into them. So, it isn't all that impressing. Especially with the Marvel Studios brand behind it. It's kind of like Pixar or DreamWorks Animation. What's really impressing (besides the 1st Avengers film-having all heroes together) is that every year they're releasing two, now three films in a shared universe. Spider-Man their top? IDK about that anymore. I think Iron Man took that title as he's now the face of Marvel.

Stark, or more specifically RDJ’s Stark, has only levitated the character’s status since the MCU started. Beforehand, I’m not certain if even say he was a B level character. Stark probably shares the face, but he’d be hard for me to stated the WebHead is second fiddle.

I’m curious to see how popular Stark is once RDJ is done with the role.

I think part of the DCEU’s stumbling has been the infrequent releases. Imagine what it could be if they had 2 movies per year.

The movie was a culmination of decades of comics, animated shows, solo movies, all that anticipation for one meeting, one shared universe. And it disappointed lots of people.

Critics with lack of understand and/or a negative bias acted as voices of authority and spewed an endless stream of overblown, hypercritical, or even outright false claims against the movie. The movie by any rational standard was good. It was written by stinking Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer for pity sake.

No. More like anti-DCEU or Zack Snyder. All the evidence points to the definitely overblown negative critical reaction to BvS simply being down to unfair, closed-minded thinking or irrational double standards. That might come from preconceived notions, from being trained to expect Marvel movies, etc. But there were a lot of implicit factors working against BvS from the get-go. And I’m not claiming anybody was paid off by Marvel or anything (though I wouldn’t be too surprised if that conspiracy theory turned out to be true). Regardless of the motives or factors playing into it, bias is surely the only explanation I can see by observing the obviously hypercritical and often objectively false or at best purely subjective claims of fact against BvS in so many reviews. And people simply flat out not understanding it, either, yet acting as if from a place of authority to judge. This covers pretty much ever negative review I’ve seen.

I am not a blind fanboy; I don’t just love all DCEU movies just because - I can tell the difference between a movie that is truly bad (Suicide Squad) and a movie that is truly good (The Dark Knight). I like Marvel movies. Etc. I am not a blind fanboy.

If you don’t think the unending, bully-like hate BvS has gotten over the past almost 2 years now is a bit extreme, even if you did not like it yourself, you are clearly the blindly biased one here.

Just about every “fault” BvS has can be seen in countless comparable films that are not criticized, but praised. How can that possibly be unless there is unfairness?

Is BvS perfect? No. It has genuine flaws that a fair, rational perspective can see. But, unlike the blindly biased hate parade, that fair perspective would realize the flaws that it does have do not justify calling it a steaming pile of garbage from hell, which seems to be the popular narrative amongst critics. Very few movies deserve the level of hate BvS got, and BvS is not one of them.

And most of the general audience DID like BvS. Go take a quick look at the general audience scores on every major site we have available to us for seeing such information: Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, and Metacritic. Why is that a surprise to you? A lot of people just want to be entertained. The the only thing that actually surprises me is when most of the general audience DOESN’T like a movie.

I’ve seen this a lot & think it’s kind of misleading. The DCEU movies so far star 3 of the 4 most iconic comic book characters ever. The 4th movie was heavily marketed with the most iconic comic book villain. The big deal would’ve been if those movies made less then a couple B & C level characters in Marvel’s Phase One. Their biggest character in the group, Hulk, was coming off a crappy independent solo movie. DCEU was coming off the solidly successful Nolan trilogy.

MoS was a financial success. Batman coming in was not a correction; it was Zack Snyder’s idea from day one of sequel talks. JL is still a Zack Snyder movie first and foremost and the lighter tone was planned since before BvS (though would be further emphasized after the critical reaction was negative). I don’t think the faithful fans let the critics dictate what they like/dislike. I don’t care for BvS. All the positive vibes I got with MoS had faded by the release date. Part of that was from what I saw in the final trailer & people on this site. Although I saw about 80% of the movie online, it wasn’t until this past March did I finally see it through Netflix.

I’ve seen about 60% of Suicide Squad. At some point in 2018, it’ll finally get to the top of my Netflix list. I’m in no rush to see it.

My lukewarm feeling for JL is completely my own. It’ll revert back to my Netflix viewing that WW broke.

I’m not a homer (to use a sports term), but I’m certainly a real fan. My lack of enthusiasm in these movies doesn’t get affected by that.

Between knowing the plot & getting to see a large portion of the movie, I was in no rush to see it. The only thing that changed after seeing the full movie was that I felt bad Cavill got cheated out of another solo movie before the team up.

They had an idea, that idea was within Zack Snyder. Audience didn't respond well, so they had to adapt. WB is not an amateur studio, they live from casual movie goers, not you and me and rest of 10% that will surely buy tickets.

They didn't start bad; they just made MoS and BvS in a way they wanted without taking the audience into account. Nothing wrong with that. I, for one, loved MoS and the UC of BvS. Art is subjective. Even making a movie that the majority "like" doesn't mean the movie is good. For some people, as long as a movie is passably entertaining or not boring, then they'll say they liked it.

Now, with WW and JL it seems like they're making more audience-friendly movies, and I'm fine with that, too. I'm a fan of the CHARACTERS so no matter what the movies do, they won't spoil my love for them.

Zack Snyder made man of steel a movie that tried to do superman in Nolan style(you can see very similarities to batman begins) and ended up getting mixed results. The movie wasn't hated it was just not a memorable project to the masses he could've explored superman characters in a sequel and win the general audience back. NO e didn't do that he decided to take inspiration from non canon material like TDKR and INJUSTICE and start a shared universe with batman superman and wonder woman in same movie. It had hype but the movie tried to do too much and blew many future concepts that other directors could tackle. IMO Snyder took a lot of opportunities from future directors and made some choices that DC is currently trying to correct.

Exactly. That's why I laugh when people say that Eisenberg was nothing like the "real" Lex in BvS. Now, disclosure, I didn't fully love Eisenberg's Lex, but if you look at the character over the decades, he's changed so much.

One could argue that Kevin Spacey's Lex Luthor was the closest version to the comics... and that movie was terrible(IMO). Good characters evolve to adapt with the times. I grew up with the shrewd industrialist version of Lex from the 80s/90s. The 40s/50s version was a mad scientist. And there's been a litany of changes between the decades.

Data mining technocrats like Zuckerberg who hold conferences seen by billions--happily explaining how they're going to monitor you and collect your most intimate personal information and how you're going to happily comply--are the new Luthors.

I think the last MS movie I saw in a theater was GOTG and Strange was the last one I saw at all.

I like the approach that FOX is taking with their X-Men franchise more: they're taking chances. Yeah, you get some less than stellar movies like X-Men 3 but then you also get First Class, Logan, Deadpool(as quickly as his schtick wears out) and DOFP. I think WB is taking a similar route with DC that FOX is with X-Men: they're going to swing hard... and sometimes they'll miss but they'll never bunt.

With the Marvel Studios movies, they're good and digestible, but they're predictable. The characters or stories aren't going to surprise you; there's not going to be any stand-out performances. The goal is to not stir the pot and just stay the course; don't excite the audience too much. That's fine, but I'm not going to see Ragnarok because I feel that I've seen it in the trailers already. More comedy, more jokes, more bright colors, a forgettable villain. Nothing in the movie is going to surprise me, and that's how I sum up the MS movies going forward.

In the end, as a fan, I win regardless.

Nowadays, kids have this impenetrable sense of entitlement and want to stamp their feet and cry if they don't get EXACTLY what they want WHEN they want it and it's just not going to happen when you're dealing with projects they cost hundreds of millions to get off the ground. Whatever is most economically viable will be produced, but it doesn't mean we aren't also getting things like Aquaman, Shazam, Justice League Dark, Nightwing, Flashpoint.

Apparently we should redefine entitlement now since the studio failed the fans that is not entitlement they expect when they announce a date for a project and be delivered on that time or close to it not delayed and shelved and then announce a string of projects that are all moving ahead of the said movie. It seems flash will not come out until 2021 it seems which is three years delay so don't give me the fans entitlement excuse.
The STUDIO gave the date for WHEN EXACTLY FLASH MOVIE WOULD COME OUT NOT the FANS. Studio failed the fans and keep rubbing that in with progress of other films that are not as popular as the one they were doing. So blaming kids and crap will not fly.

I think he meant a soft reboot. Kind of how Rebirth was a soft rebirth to address everything wrong with the New52

Not sure how the script can follow the story properly if they gonna swap characters at the end. If flash returns later in time, all the events stay, if flash arrives early there is no Superman yet, what about the success of WW, does that get thrown out. If he ends up in a different Earth that will confusing as hell.

I don't know why people are saying There will be a reboot? If Barrey can break the time line , he can fix it too..

Have you read Flashpoint? Just because everyone from Justice League (and all of DC for that matter) is in it, doesn't make it JL 1.5. Unless the completely change the story from the source material, it'll be totally different.

Then again, in 2017 in the era of the Social Justice Warrior, I'm sure they won't have Wonder Woman a jealous homewrecker like she is in the story.

No, I haven't read it. I just know the basics.

Do you think they are waiting to pick a tone? Flashpoint is darker than BvS, so maybe if JL does better they'll light up the story, which would mean it would not follow the story as close.

Yeah, I could see them doing that

What are they waiting for? A good movie is just a good movie. Shouldn't they already know? Dont they have eyes and ears.

Welp. Maybe they don't. I mean, who in their right mind would release such a piece of shit film like Suicide Squad in theatres? Maybe WB is being run by aliens or something, who dont understand the basic principles of making a good film.

So what are the basic principles of making a good film? How many films have you made?

To have a good movie i think you need a solid script that flows well the scenes, and make sure the character stays true to the source material sure you can have an original script, and you need some kind of character development or team development in the end of JL, what was the obstacle, and how did they overcome it or have a smiple story line, where they need to save the world and have a way that it builds up to the final moment that it dosen't get the audience bored for example more talk less action. I think audiences would relate more or care more if JL had something to overcome and by the end they overcomed it, could be anything from working together teamwork to you know maybe overcome their fears, from their past like Batman had one of the robins dead that can be one of things holding him back to reaching his full potential as being the batman we know and love or Flash not beliving in his powers as much but by the end he feels he can do a lot. You could have Flash have mental block that keeps him from using his powers to full potential, and then you have Aquaman who struggles fitting in with humans because he is half human, then you have cyberborg finding his purpose in life since he is a cyberog and not a foot ball anymore, and wonderwoman could learn how to build trust.

Each of that would be a movie on its own. Man of Steel was a story of an alien trying to fit in, trying to find a place, but a good number of people didn't like that. So even if the directors went the way you are describing, the percentage of people that dislike it would be the same as what we have now. Some people want their heroes in their glory, others want to see the struggle.
