Tim Seeley leaving "Nightwing"; Sam Humphries to take over

Well this is sad. In an exclusive with CBR, it's been announced that Tim Seeley will be leaving the Nightwing title with Green Lanterns scribe Sam Humphries taking over writing duties. Funny enough, Seeley will be writing Green Lanterns, so yeah, they pretty much swapped titles.

It's bittersweet, as Seeley's done some great work on the title, but Humphries has made the adventures of Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz one of my favorite books so I think he's in good hands.

On a personal level, I'll miss Seeley on the title because I've been covering books from him pretty consistently for several years now. I've followed his exploits in Grayson and seen him bring Dick back to Blüdhaven, and I've interviewed him three different times, so it's sad seeing him go. He promises to go out with a bang, though, as the upcoming "Raptor's Revenge" arc serves as his swan song on the title.

Humphries will make his debut on the title with December's issue 35, where he will be joined by penciler Bernard Chang.

So, they swapped titles. Yeah that´s funny XD Well, I also like GLs, so I won´t be depressed.

Ah... Sad day.... I dropped Green Lanterns during the second arc - not because I thought it was bad, but because I found it repetitive. I'm hoping for the best, and feel optimistic though.

Also... This means a new artist will be coming to Batman Beyond since Chang will be moving to Nightwing. I like Chang a lot, but I'm not sure if he's the right fit for Nightwing... I'm curious to see if he alters his style any.

Now we just need to wait for all of the other announcements that are waiting in the wings: Batman group editor, new JL writer, the Benson's leaving Batgirl and the Birds of Prey (don't judge me... one needs hope), etc.

I feel like Chang could do some amazing work on Nightwing if he's enthusiastic about the series. I haven't read a lot of Humphries so I don't have an opinion on his writing. But I've personally loved Seeleys role in writing because foremost my favorite thing about Nightwing is his character and I feel like Seeley nailed it while also expanding the world. Sad to see him go but I'm optimistic.

Sad to see Tim Seeley go since I really (mostly)enjoyed his work with Dick Grayson over the years, but alas, he's been writing the character for almost 3 years, so I guess he'd want to move on to newer things, but at the same time, it's always exciting to get new people to work on a property, especially one as good as Sam Humphries, because what I've read of Green Lanterns, I've liked very much

To be honest I'm not a fan of Humphries. I'm most likely gonna drop Nightwing but I guess I might pick up Green Lantern again.

Not sure how to feel about this. Humphries has written a lot of bad stuff over at Marvel. His Green Lanterns isn't bad, with a couple of standout issues here and there, but I don't know if Humphries has that fun comicbooky flair that Seeley brings to the table. I'm a bit surprised, though. It sounded like Humphries was going to be put on a big book (like a Justice League or JSA or Legion). So to hear that he's just swapping with Seeley is a bit unusual.

*Seeley leaving* Yaaaay. Maybe the Nightwing comic will actually be about Nightwing instead of his supporting cast.
*The writer from Green Lanterns taking over* Nooooo. Now the comic is going to be overflowing with insufferable millennial-speak. Talk about a downgrade. Green Lanterns is hot trash.
DC giveth with one hand, the other taketh away. Nightwing needs another Chuck Dixon asap.

Id like to see a 12 issue All-Star Dick Grayson co-written by Tim Seeley and Tom King and penciled by Mikel Janin when all this Rebirth brouhaha is finished. Seeleys run on the character had shown a lot of chutzpah. I hope whoever this next guy is has similar inclinations in building a lasting mythology. Hell, I hope he does it better than Seeley and King.

Hey, right? Itd have the same scope and cerebral quality of a 12 issue Tom King series, the same visual dynamism of a Mikel Janin Batman story, and it would give Seeley pretty much the widest possible canvas to do whatever he wanted with the character. It wold be the perfect way to top off his run with the character.
