Update: The Hollywood Reporter has made a rare, but huge blunder. They've updated their story with the following correction: "An earlier version of this story stated that Matt Reeves' The Batman was part of Warner Bros.' new label and would star a new actor as Batman, but it is unclear where that project will fall."

Ben Affleck will not star in The Batman, which is set to be directed by Matt Reeves, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
As we learned earlier this week, Warner Bros. is developing a new brand of DC Comics movies that take place outside of their current DC Extended Universe. THR says that The Batman is in a different universe and will star a new actor.
The new line, or possibly label, will allow for the making of movies that will stand apart and separate from those big-budget tentpoles. Matt Reeves’ The Batman, for example, is intended to not be connected to the Justice League universe but to be set in a different time period and star another actor.
Matt Reeves basically confirmed this news in a recent interview. He said that The Batman is "standalone" movie that "isn’t part of the extended universe."
Ben Affleck has one movie left on his contract after Justice League, so it'll be interesting to see if Warner Bros. puts him in one last DCEU movie or if the two parties just part ways.
This is very disappointing news. All I've wanted after seeing Batman v Superman was a solo Batman movie starring Ben Affleck. Let me know what you make of this all in the comments below.
