Casey Affleck's rep: No "firsthand knowledge" involved in Ben Affleck Batman comments

BuzzFeed posted an excellent article today titled "Everything You Need To Know About Ben Affleck's Fate As Batman" which features a timeline from July 2015 when Affleck was rumored to be directing, writing, and starring in The Batman to just this week when his brother Casey Affleck made headlines for saying he didn't think he'd do it.

Casey Affleck did say he was just making it up, but only after he was told he just broke some major news. Unsurprisingly, Casey Affleck's rep is backing that up, telling Buzzfeed, "he was having fun with the folks at the Red Sox game — where he threw out the first pitch in support of the Jimmy Fund — and not speaking from a place of firsthand knowledge."

A representative for Ben Affleck told BuzzFeed that nothing has changed since his comments at Comic-Con, and that “he'll continue to be Batman as long as the studio will have him.” It was there that Affleck confirmed he had one more movie left on his contract after Justice League that he intends to fulfill.

Warner Bros. declined to comment on BuzzFeed's story.

This has gotten way out of hand, all of these news sites are blowing things out of proportion just for clicks, thank you Chris for actually reporting the truth.

    Some will but maybe they shouldn't run with the story to begin with. I understand why you did an article on it but the major sites continually show a clear bias against the DCEU. I really thought Wonder Woman would change this maybe Justice League changes but I doubt it.

  Yup as a DC fan I'm getting sick of the quality of reporting when it comes to these major comic book sites. They know they can make up any story for clicks with zero consequences and just run with it. This site is pretty much the only one I can trust. I might disagree with certain articles but I need to just not click and engage in the conversation. Thanks again Chris for creating what feels like a sanctuary for DC fans.

I've been saying this since before SDCC! WB probably doesn't want to continue with him if he doesn't fully commit to a trilogy of Batman movies PLUS two more JL movies. Ben if probably waiting for more money and negotiating through the press. I also doubt WB wants to have Ben on for one movie in Matt Reeve's proposed trilogy and than have to recast in the middle of it. So I think it's just a matter of one side blinking

    Because he is not like those old glorious action actors who can just pump steroids into their veins and train like hell for their movies because they don't do anything more. He is a director now, and he is definitely more interested in focusing on that, since it is what brought his career back from the dead. Dude has been a smoker for as long as I can remember seeing him, and his alcohol issues are no secret at this point. A whole trilogy as Batman when he is almost 50? Seems far fetched, at best.

  I'd like to see Wes Bentley. I think he looks the part and is a good actor.
  If they keep an older Bruce I think Justin Theroux would be a good option too, Jon Hamm... maybe even Joe Manganiello

    If they would go older version I would like to see Josh Brolin taking this one too. :D But then, why changing Affleck if they would go with older version again? I don't know, hopefully he stays, he is by far my favorite Batman.

      Not sure what you mean by snail/snake but he was in american beauty a while ago and I remember seeing him in Interstellar for a short time. looks the part to me and is not as old as the rest

I love how this story continues to get reported, as though Affleck can simply elect to not do the movie, and leave the studio completely hanging. As if he secretly hates the Batman role SO MUCH, that he'd risk pissing off WB, more than he probably already has, by refusing to honor his contract.😄

    He is contracted for The Batman. Beyond that he is not obligated to continue. However, he did sound confident in saying that he would continue the role as long as WB would have him.

      Right, I forgot about that. Either way, as many people have pointed out, him saying that was him basically putting it all on WB. If he doesn't play Batman anymore, then people will blame WB. If he does, then both get celebrated by fans. He basically can't lose like this, regarding his public image and all.

Even marvel fans are more aware of production costs of DCEU movies than their own beloved MCU, or how much it would make to break even, for crying out loud.         Was always an issue. Even before Superman Returns "only made" $400 million.
        I've been tracking the articles on Spider-man: Homecoming for months. The articles referenced its performance against the last two series, the diverse cast, etc. Google any movie & you'll find articles about it. I do it all the time.
