Earlier this week a report from Mashable said that David Ayer and Warner Bros. will part ways on Gotham City Sirens. Late last night Ayer took to Twitter and seemingly let the world know that he's still on board.
Ayer didn't say a word, and instead just tweeted out a photo of Harley Quinn. Warner Bros. didn't announce Gotham City Sirens at Comic-Con, but as of right now it appears that Ayer is still attached to direct.

Hearing what the slate is it seems like they trimmed some of the Hero journey to move towards that hopeful tone they were trying to reach while still expanding the universe. Like fast forwarding a movie to get to the bits you want to watch. I'm kind of sad about it but also like it at the same time. guilty pleasure covers it

Ayer needs to up his credibility.....anything this guy says or does has been in question due to the garbage of Suicide Squad . His next movie has to be great, or else it will put a big damper on his career and his reputation as a solid director.
His next film is Bright and Neflix spend an unheard 90 mil. on it. SS is also his biggest success to date and Bright´s recent trailer (looking good) had it front lined a his premier film.
Ahead of End of Watch, Fury or Training Day (he wrote it). He further wrote the script for Fast 1, so yeah Ayer has quite a clout around him. Especially due to the A-listers he attracts. Will Smith is a huge get for Netflix and he even directed the former Batman right after Begins

SS was definitely not his biggest success.....a child could have directed that movie and done a similar job at the box office if that is how you define success.

Wrong!!....it is a mix of box office, reviews, sustainability, timeliness, quality of acting, quality of directing, positive word of mouth, profit margin, etc. Only thing SS had one "early" box office success, but with their budget and marketing, who knows. Fact is this movie could have been wayyyyy better, and that is a fact. Unless your telling me that investors overall were happy getting their millions instead of their billions, OKAY.
suicide squad was never expected to gross a billion and WB said it exceeded expectations at the box office. And when it comes to investors they seriously only care about money, hence the "investment" not reviews, sustainability etc. look I was disappointed by the film as well and it's easy to say how it could have been when we are on the outside looking in. the problem with suicide squad was the script and the movie being cut by the same company who cut the trailer not the direction
We can't judge David Ayer fairly since much like BvS, there was a lot of studio interference. Plus he did a pristine job with costumes and stylistic choices. I'd give him another chance with Gotham City Sirens, minus the interference. I think WB has learnt its lesson.
We'll see, I mean he did say that it was his final version. Wether that was true or not, who knows....but we'll see with the next SS, all I know is that I'm going to read a ton of reviews before I spend my money on that one.
Yeap, regardless who directed the movie, due to the characters and the DC brand Suicide Squad could not have done any worse. If the movie would have been good, it could have made top dollars for WB.
We have to see this through a long run perspective. The investors are betting their money on the sequels. At least the investors are sure of one thing, if such a screwed up film made millions, then the sequels will have more chance. If this movie was what it supposed to be, it would be difficult to top it.
I can see why he was a runner to do Bright, as End of Watch was a fantastic movie although it felt like it dragged on a few times for me. My favorite film from his is Fury and I'm being like 1/16 biased here because I'm a veteran, I can understand the emotions the characters go through. It really connected with me.
I was also in the military but didn´t see combat. Ayer is a hit and miss guy for even me but SS really worked for me. But hey, i also liked Sabotage despite some weird logic.

SS worked for me as well. Something I could put on and pass the time while working on drawings and stuff yet still be entertained. I did see combat and let me tell you it makes a ton of difference. Especially when it comes to war movies, I feel a little personally invested in them and get a bit upset when it isn't shown properly. Ayer did a great jump in that aspect of the film. I haven't seen Sabotage yet but been meaning to.
I just thought Suicide Squad was going be "his" kind of movie. Given what I seen in his previous movies. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, and thought it was the studio executives, but when he said it was his final version, I was shocked.

I think that it obvious to someone with some intelligence that the film has very poorly edited scenes and there are many holes in the plot. Just look the way that some members of the squad were treated. Do you really think that David Ayer subjected all his cast to physical and mental training to do scenes where most members of Suicide squad have a few lines like croc, katana, Katana, slipknot or even Boomerang ( although he had a few more lines)? Do you think that Ayer cast Adam Beach to blow his head? Besides, after all the criticism about the editing that the film had and about the underdevelopment of the characters, they didn't correct the editing of one scene or expand the undeveloped characters in the extended version.
So, the poor theatrical cut of Blade Runner was Ridley Scott's fault, as was the theatrical cut of The Wild Bunch for Peckinpah?

The studio just cleans everything that doesn't fit with their vision. People don't understand but Suicide squad was censored to the highest level. I came to realize, There is a war inside the studios, even Patty Jenkins had to fight to put "no man's land in the film, one of the best scenes of wonder woman.

Do you know why people endure all kinds of abuse in their jobs? Because they need to make money to live! Yes, we all can try and find a new job, but it is not that easy even if we have good credentials.
WB is one of the major studios and this type of movies gives a lot of money. Ayer has a family and has to think about them. Most people would make that choice. Actually, every day people have to make that choice.
To be fair, SUICIDE SQUAD does play out like there was inordinate interference by WB. Some themes raised early in the film are dropped by Act Two, character motivations turn on a dime, payoffs are missing, and the editing reflects a jumbled broth that one only gets when there are multiple chefs in the kitchen.
My understanding is the final cut was an amalgamation of three cuts: the Ayer cut, the Trailer Park Cut, and additional reshoots. The dude was shafted.
Sure, the symptoms in SUICIDE SQUAD could be a reflection of just poor development. And there's truth to that. After all, Ayer was given only 6 weeks to write a script. But the reports of multiple cuts are validated by the very schizophrenic nature of the film. Boomerang's pink unicorn transforming into a wad of cash halfway through the film is a great case in point.
I don't think the film would've been great even if Ayer was given 6 months to write the script and had full directorial control, but nor do I think the mess is all his making. WB clearly panicked and overreacted when audiences were unimpressed with the grimness of BvS.
Absolutely. He's responsible for a lot. The vision, characters, the angle and hook. He was the scriptwriter and he was the director.
However, it's quite clear that WB intervened only when they began to worry about the tone of BvS. After that, the rug was pulled out from under Ayer, and his 'vision', worts and all, was impugned. This can be seen in the clear shift in tone of the trailers.
Furthermore, it is pretty clear there is a schizophrenic quality to the film, and this does validate the reports of multiple cuts, including one from a company that edits trailers and music videos. I mean the film does play out as one big music video.
Ayer should be criticized for some choices, but there's only so much responsibility you ought to take when the studio stages a panicked intervention like that.
I'm not quite sure about the first part of your comment. That seems conjecture. Again, we have considerable reports pointing to WB course-correcting SS during post. And again, it's more than clear that a lot of the problems the film has can only be validated by the movie having an identity crisis, and that can only happen with multiple cuts/influences.
I'm not a fan of Ayer, but you're apportioning an incredible amount of free will on him. There is more than a little influence and pressure that WB put on him after Principal Photography, and you can't blame someone if they don't have a real choice in the matter.
If Ayer wanted to continue to have a career in Hollywood, and not go the way of Josh Trank, he did what WB wanted him to do. That part of the film he shouldn't be blamed for.
I know that people didn't see the original movie, but it is stupid to not see that there are scenes that were very badly trimmed, scenes that were changed and the connection between the scenes were atrocious..
Does anyone really think that Ayer did intense sessions of physical and mental training with all the squad for them to have almost no interactions scenes? Or that he made all his actors work really hard just to give them two or three lines?

This film wasn't made to be a popcorn film from the beginning and that is why this isn't even a good popcorn movie. This is a Frankenstein movie, full of disjointed parts of a dead body that WB killed - the original film.
Well, this film was about the squad! Do you think that Ayer hired these actors for six months and made them work hard for scenes that never made the theatrical cut, not even the extended cut?
If he needed Slipknot just to blow his head and say two lines he wouldn't have made him work so hard for so many months, besides that is bad business, because it was the cost of the actor's salary and the cost of the set production.
The poor Slipknot even said that he couldn't sit between takes because of the suit and all the ropes around it
I know that Will Smith was the A-list star and his salary made up all other salaries, but it was not the intention of Ayer to diminished all other actors so Smith could shine. Ayer approached the squad as a unity and that is why he did all those training and fight sessions with all the actors.
Who realized that wanted the A-list of this film to stand out after seeing the final product were the executives of the film that didn't like the fact that Smith was lost among the other ruffians because he didn't stand out with his good guy demeanor.
The problem is that this film was written for all the member's squad. The result was a film that had to be severely cut and changed. Of course, Will Smith was not the only reason. The studio realized that they wanted a popcorn movie, but the film wasn't created to be a popcorn movie. It was a deep movie that approached the barriers between the good, the bad and the evil. The result was a Frankenstein movie made of the dead parts of the original one.

Even if he hadn't so many takes as the other actors he still spent a few months shooting and I'm sure that was not all about blowing his head.
Yes, each actor on the set is an extra cost, Not only the cost of maintaining the actor himself but the expense in the preparation of each character: makeup and the wardrobe.
Yes, I know about the original film because a person who watched an early test screening told me a few things. I think that this was the first version.
Yes, the film had depth because. It approached several issues relate to human nature: how we judge, how we use power, how we bond, etc. The problem was that the studio cut most of the scenes of interaction between members of the squad.
For example, one of the most relevant scenes was the scene where members of the squad fight each other. Rick Flag threatened to blow their heads if they didn't stop, but they didn't care. It is Deadshot who stops the fight, that is why he is seen as the leader of the group by Flag. After this fight and the unfulfilled threats of Rick Flag, Boomerang and Slipknot come to the conclusion that the explosives in the neck are all bluff to control them. It was after this fight that they all started to plot to escape, not after Slipknot's dead which was a stupidity really.
There are the scenes of the June/Enchantress in Belle Reve where she learns about each member of the squad and witnesses the torture to which the prisoners are subjected. That also constitutes a factor why the hate of Enchantress for oppressors increase.
They Destroyed the villains of this film:
The enchantress was meant to be an anti-hero who wanted justice against the oppressive humans because she had been deceived and taken prisoner by humans in ancient times and once she was released she found herself trapped again by Waller.
Amanda Waller was to be the big villain of this film because she deceived everyone with her reasons full of "good intentions" to build this type of team to defend her country against meta humans. But her mask falls and it is revealed that she doesn't give a f*ck about her country or the people. She loves the power to control, so what she really wants is to have a personal team of prisoners who achieve her personal goals and who only work for her and only respond to her and no one else.
The Joker who got some snapshots scattered throughout the film and had no real purpose for the final cut. In that cut, he was supposed to be the one who would unite the squad as a real team before the confrontation with the Enchantress.
THE JOKER cames back to "play" and kill the squad JUST LIKE HE DID WITH MONSTER T, but this time HARLEY turns against him to help her friends. That show that Harley can act against the Joker and be independent if she wants to. That scene shows the emancipation of this woman and they cut it.

It is very dumb to change a scene that has such a cool line and was also shown in the very last trailer. Also, it was one of the most widespread scenes on the internet. It was even dumber that after so much criticism about the cut of Jokers' scenes, they did that same mistake in the extended version and didn’t add that scene, at least that one scene of all the 90% of the Joker's scenes that were cut. Why didn’t they restore some scenes in the extended version, if WB almost got sued for cutting so many scenes from the trailers?

Yeah, that was one fucking scene that was cut, not several like the joker's scenes. They used that scene in two trailers including in the comic con trailer. A few days before the release of the movie. It wasn't good for the film but it was good for the marketing until the end. Right!?

You never thought that Joker's scenes were disfigured because he stole the show to Will Smith's Deadshot, the main character and the movie star of the film. After realizing that, WB decided that the focus of the audience should be on Will Smith. In order to achieve that, they emphasize his scenes and diminished the other characters (especially the Joker) so Smith could shine in his own movie.
That is why the studio extended even more some Luthor' scenes in the extended version and recast him for Justice league. Apparently, the studio didn't care about the criticism.

Instead, they could have used that time to extend other scenes like the scenes in Arkum Asylum or they also could use that time to extend the car sequence that had Batman and Harley Quinn in it and was very used in the marketing.
If the design of the Joker would be such a problem and the studio knew this, then why didn’t they cut a useless scene like the night club scene. The scene that annoyed most people ( you are an example of that) because the Joker was a West coast gangster and over the top ( Joker is a clown, but ok). That scene was useless for the story and so horribly edited and distorted, especially in the climax scene where the Joker kills Monster T.
So why not to cut that scene that could annoy a lot of people and use that time in the therapy scene with Harley at Arkham where everything about him is much more low key.
Aside from the fact that that scene has more significance for the history of Harley than the Night club scene that is useless for the story.

Extend Arkum’s scenes and cut the night club scene and the Griggs’ scenes would have been the right decision if the studio wanted to hide this gangster style Joker.

Seriously Leto's design of the look and the performance are just so crap.
I also was kinda glad he barely got any scenes and got cut out. Yeah, I know that sounds very cruel, but Leto was being an incredible unlikable prick to his cast. And then the apologists will just defend saying, "Oh no, see its just to get into character because of method acting." Fuck that. Method acting is a giant plague of being an asshole to your cast. That doesn't make you better and glad that karma bit him.
Apparently, Karma didn't only hit Jared but most of the squad members who were put aside. As many say this was a squad movie, but that did not stop most members from being treated merely as an extras with a few lines.
The whole cast practiced the method because it was part of Ayer's technique to extract true emotions.
Most scenes of the Squad's interaction were cut out of the final cut, so that was all a waste of time.
Jared's gifts were completely harmless and didn’t hurt or offend the other members. The condoms that could pass as balloons were not used, just out of the package and there was one live rat that the cast took several selfies with him.
The goal was to bring the unpredictability of the Joker to the set and create a group dynamics between the Joker and the rest of the squad so that when it came to acting the emotions were real.
The Joker was supposed to be the one who would unite the squad as a real team before the confrontation with the Enchantress, so Jared focused his method acting in the group dynamic between him and the rest of the group.
The element of unpredictability and surprise was very necessary for the acting because the Jokers should have returned in the most unexpected way, hidden in the darkness waiting for the squad to appear like a hunter waits for the prey. His laugh resonates in the wall of the metro and then the hunt starts. Eventually, Harley betrays the Joker to save her friends.
According to the person who watched the test session, the scene of interaction between the two actors was outstanding and super intense.
She stops him when he is about to explode them, but she is still hopelessly in love with him and the Joker was stunned because he never thought that his obedient and docile Harley would ever turn against him.
What the Joker does with Monster T in whitch he is playing with his “prey” before killing it, the Joker was supposed to do the same with the squad.
I ask you because you say that the studio cut Leto's scenes because they didn't like this Joker, namely the design and the style of the character.
Obviously in any scene that they put him could not hide the grill and the tattoo in the forehead, unless they resorted to the digital alteration.
The point here is that cutting those scenes was a way of not exposing so much the gangster style (clothing, costume jewelry) and his behavior over the top since the studio knew that this would displease many fans. If the studio already knew that the gangster style was not going to please the fans and wanted to preserve the reputation of Jared Leto, the solution was to cut these scenes and expand others where the style is more low key. These scenes where he appears to be more gangster are not even relevant to the story as opposed to scenes as the therapy scene which is relevant to the audience that wants to know a bit more about the transition from Harley Quinzel into Harley Quinn.
Here again, the point is not the assumption that the scenes are good or bad. I and many people, we just want to watch the extended version of those scenes and then decide if we like it or not, but first, we have to see them.

No, because the Joker does not belong to the suicide squad and therefore he will not be in the next movies to attract the public. The focus has to be on the main character of the suicide squad (Will Smith) and not the Joker. The studio didn't invest millions in an A-list star to carry this franchise so that the public wouldn't care about Smith because all the public attention was on the Joker and Harley's relationship.

The studio simply didn't let the Joker steal the show in the suicide squad which the main character of the Franchise is Deadshot.
The Joker will always be marketable no matter what, especially in a Batman film.

If they thought that the scene " I can’t wait to show you my toys” wasn’t going anywhere as you say as an excuse for not putting that line, then they should have cut the entire scene.
Instead they could have used that time to extend other scenes like the scenes in Arkum Asylum or they also could use that time to extend the car sequence with Batman and Harley that was very used in the marketing.
If the design of the Joker would be such a problem and the studio knew this, then why didn’t they cut a useless scene like the night club scene. The scene that annoyed most people ( you are an example of that) because the Joker was too must west coast gangster and over the top ( Joker is a clown, but ok). That scene was useless for the story and so horribly edited and distorted, especially in the climax scene where the Joker kills Monster T.
So why not to cut that scene that could annoy a lot of people and use that time in the therapy scene with Harley at Arkum where everthing about him is much more low key.
Aside from the fact that that scene has more significance for the history of Harley than the Night club scene that is useless for the story.

Grills make sense considering he's been punched by fucking Batman. I didn't mind the tats outside of the DAMAGED on his forehead- that was kinda dumb. But there was nothing wrong with him aesthetically so long as the performance added up, and I don't think we can rate Leto fairly as his scenes were so juxtaposed in the movie.

It wasn't a cheap imitation- it was unique. I'm not saying you have to like it, but to act like it was terrible is demonstrably false. Also Gotham doesn't have a fixed location smart one- sometimes it's midwest, other times it's East Coast. In the DCEU, it's midwest.
This film was screwed up beyond reason. There are a lot of missing scenes, especially in the beginning. The fights between the squad, the rebellion scenes of the squad against Flagg. Everyone asks why Slipknot was so stupid in believing in Boomerang? Well, in a previous scene, the squad starts a fight and Flagg threatens to blow their heads. It is Deadshot who intervenes to stops the fight and that is why Flagg believes he is the leader of the group. Due to the unfulfilled threats of Flagg, Boomerang and Slipknot believe that is all a bluff. The sequence of the scene was altered too because the squad starts to plot the escape after that fight scene and much before slipknot's dead.
There are a lot of changes regarding Enchantress, Waller and the Joker. For example, the Enchantress is an anti-heroine who was arrested in ancient times by humans and now want to get rid of the oppressor like Amanda Waller and the army.
Amanda Waller created that team for personal gain, not for national security as she pretended in the beginning of the film. She didn't destroy the heart of Enchantress when she had the chance because she still had hope in regaining the control of one of the most powerful meta humans- enchantress.
The Joker was supposed to come back after the helicopter crash with the purpose of torturing and killing the squad. Eventually, Harley turns against him to help the squad.
There were several cuts made as Ayer said himself. Probably we will never see the original cut, but it would be cool to see a less screwed version of this film.

suicide squad was a victim of bad editing. I've seen the film and been on some editing teams. I've seen good material go to shit because of editing and yeah that's what happen. Like that gumball episode about potatoes where they play the same vid with different editing and sound and completely felt like 2 different films.

This movie is a terrible idea anyway. WB are so clueless it's hilarious. They're just following trends and improvising along the way. "oh look they liked Harley Quinn, let's make a Harley Quinn movie (or GCS)". They haven't even properly established the core of this universe and they're already heading to other directions.
That's why Marvel Studios have my respect, even if I can't stand most of their movies. They may not have everything planned to detail, but they do have a good idea of where they're going. WB is like a little puppy dog that doesn't know what car to chase.
You would think such an old and wealthy studio would know how to make things work, but they suck so much at building a sharing universe, it's unbelievable.

WB, like you stated, is an "old guard" type of studio. The bean counters/statisticians probably have way more sway than the creative leaders there. On one hand, Margot R. did pitch the idea and WB is definitely in the Margot/Harley business, but they really should've kept their GCS plans quiet until they had things far more ironed out. WB really needs to lock up directors they trust (likely just Reeves and Jenkins at this point) to multi-picture deals to project some stability. Every studio has to deal with directors dropping off projects, re-shoots, and the like, but WB is still early in the general audience trust-building stage and the smoother these early productions run the better for the entire DCEU slate.

Totally agreed. Whedon can and has written great female characters throughout multiple types of media. People here have criticized him because he has done a Marvel movie (*gasp*), but this is the dude behind Buffy, Angel (though I can't say I'm as much of a fan of it as I am with his other work), Firefly (including Serenity) and a bunch of great stuff. He'd be a million times better for Gotham City Sirens than David "I screwed up with Suicide Squad" Ayer ever will be.

The thing is I don't think Ayer is a terrible filmmaker. FURY was pretty good. WB hamstringing him aside, he made some poor choices for SS (eg. the villain, Joker). But my specific problem for him doing GCS is that he just isn't equipped for it. When has he been able to ever do a good, well-defined, non-objectified female in his films?

Oh yeah, I've liked some movies of his. End of Watch is my personal favorite, and I was pumped for Suicide Squad after seeing Fury. I think there's only so much blame he should take for SS. He was given only 6 weeks by WB (because they had to make the release date). And it's clear that the ordering of reshoots and hiring of Trailer Park only happened after the BvS fallout. WB were shocked that audiences didn't buy into the grimness of DC.
Maybe even without interference, the Ayer cut wouldn't have been great, but at least it wouldn't have had the schizophrenia that only a multi-cut film has. SS is nothing like his other films.
I do agree on that part, and after seeing the movie for the first time, I couldn't help but think that there could have been a better version of it, especially since I knew they cut a lot of scenes that people shot when they were filming in the streets of toronto and leaked that I didn't see in the movie. But the dialogue, and as you've said, choice of villain and general plot were pretty bad to begin with.

I can agree with you on that. It's why I don't have surefire belief that he could do a better job. Yeah there's Buffy and Angel, which I have no interest in seeing, but that was YEARS ago. A lot has changed since then. Maybe he could still do a better job than Ayer, but like I said, I don't have absolute faith in the guy.
Age of Ultron is probably Whedon's biggest misfire, but it's still a much better movie than Suicide Squad on all accounts.

Yeah, I'll be honest. The current comics and Suicide Squad have made me kinda hate Harley Quinn these days. I mean for God sakes, they are making Batman Day into Harley Quinn Day this year.
The ending of SS has already made that transition possible and easy to do.

I'm actually intrigued by this project and would like to see Ayer direct it. My only concern would be its placement in WB's big random rolodex of projects and how it fits into the DCEU's series. It's got my support, nonetheless.

Harley and Joker aside the film is a mess anyway with stupid logic, poor action and a soundtrack what clearly wanted to be the new Guardians Of The Galaxy. For someone who claims to be a "big Harley fan" you seem to be pretty ignorant to Harley's history and origins, her solo run is actually more in line with the character Timm and Dini created in The Animated Series. There was multiple episodes and comics (based on BTAS) what showed Harley going good and that when Joker isn't around she's actually not that bad, ever see Harley's Holiday? The whole plot is her trying to be better and decent, even Batman tries to help her in this. The fact is when free of the Joker's control Harley has shown to be kind and good, the image you seem to have of her is the one what started with that god awful N52 Suicide Squad version of her. There's a big reason the Injustice version of Harley is so well liked in both game and comic form and thats because she is very much like her BTAS self and her solo run is like that two, she's crazy sure but she's not a random killer and can be reasoned with and she has shown since her origins that there is a good person in her what the Joker tainted.

There is no depth in such a character. That's why she was never alone. She always had someone, because she could not carry a story on her own. She needed development, and the development could have gone one of the two ways -- either she becomes a villain in her own right, or she becomes a hero. And the hero way is SHIT. And so is Injustice. Oh yeah, sure, she helped the Joker kill 8 bln people -- no biggie! She is just a battered wife, we'll forgive her! Fuck outta here with this bull. As Margo herself said it, you gotta own that shit. And SS Harley did own it. She proved that Harley to begin with was not just a victim. She was not bad because of Joker's influence, she was bad because she accepted his philosophy -- philosophy of no fear and no responsibility. That's the natural progression of Harley that lets her grow into her own character, not somebody's support.

Yeah she played a part in Joker's plan but as she said in the Injustice 2 comics she didn't think it would work and that Superman would save the day as thats what he always did, she didn't really want it to happen and didn't think it would, she actually felt terrible about it. Does it give her a free pass? Maybe? Maybe not? but she was convinced Superman would save the day, Harley doesn't think like a normal person so in her head it would all work out, she did do her best to make up for it though and helped Batman throughout Years 1-5 and saved the day more then once.
Have you watched anything besides BTAS? Have you seen her portrayal in Arkham games? Those were instrumental in her development in New 52. Which in turn was instrumental for her portrayal in Assault on Arkham. Which in its turn, was instrumental in influencing SS the movie.

Bottom line -- BTAS's Harley was at the beginning of her carrier, very restricted in terms of what she could potentially do by it being a children's show. Even the Joker himself did not kill a single person in it.

She is a psycho and a murderer. The only reason they are turning her into a hero is because a psycho is not as marketable to little girls. And they've been doing the same shit to the other villains.
Honestly, don't see the reason for a Suicide Squad 2 and a Gotham City Sirens. One or the other should be enough, and since they're going with SS2 first then its going to make GCS look like a spinoff movie, kinda weird. Anyways, so many more interesting projects they should tackle before making any of these two movies.
The lesson (what surprisingly people forget) is: don't fuck up with Ayer.
PS: He was totally talking about Scarface about that "PG-13" content at Comic Con. What, based on the news, makes a lot of sense.
I'm perfectly happy with the dceu and especially where it's headed, and I'll defend MoS and BvS pretty heavily, but Suicide Squad was utter crap. If Ayer is doing anymore films for dc/wb, he needs to redeem himself big time or else be put on a catapult and launched out of town
As much as I love the DCEU, I can admit that it's frustrating to hear movies to be in development but then not have them on that slate at comic-con. That being said, I'm not sure I need a GCS movie ever or a SS sequel now. I would much rather have had Nightwing and MOS 2 on that list. It also makes sense however that they're probably waiting to see what happens with Affleck and Reeves' Batman because it seems logical that that storyline would dictate what they would do with Nightwing.
