A lot was made about the Justice League reshoot reports last week, but the truth is that reshoots happen on every big movie. While Wonder Woman's reshoots weren't as extensive as Justice League's will be, they did take place, and director Patty Jenkins revealed which scene was added in.
The Hollywood Reporter has the details:
For all of the reports of extensive reshoots on studio tentpoles, Jenkins added just one new scene after she wrapped production in [May 2016]. As originally shot, the Warner Bros. film’s titular heroine Gal Gadot is walking with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) toward the World War I frontlines, readying herself for her destined showdown with Ares, the Greek god of war. But months later, when Jenkins watched the finished cut in London, she realized there was something missing.
“I wanted to ramp that tension as much as possible, and unfortunately, we didn’t have it,” Jenkins told The Hollywood Reporter. “That scene was just a slightly tense scene of them walking. I was like ‘I need her to see some brutality.’ So, we added her seeing the horses being whipped. It was actually something that had been in the script originally.”
“We replaced that one scene with a reshot scene, and we didn’t change the order of a single scene,” Jenkins said. “So what you saw is exactly the movie that we were always making.”
Wonder Woman is off to a huge start at the box office. This weekend it beat Tom Cruise's The Mummy and passed the $435 million mark worldwide.
