Patty Jenkins on directing 'Wonder Woman' sequel: "We're working on it. I hope to"

June 9, 2017

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins was a guest on Conan last night, and at the end of the interview Conan O'Brien asked what everyone wants to know... will she be back to direct a Wonder Woman sequel?

"We're working on it. I hope to. I love it. I love the world. We're all really excited about it. We'll see," Jenkins told O'Brien.

Jenkins is referring to her contract negotiations, which we learned about earlier this week. Warner Bros. didn't sign up Jenkins for multiple movies, a standard practice, but one that will likely cost them millions of dollars. After the huge success that Wonder Woman turned out to be, Jenkins now has all the power while working on a new deal.

Check out the full video interview about for more from Jenkins about Wonder Woman.

Oh she better be coming back for the trilogy. WB better back up the cash truck for her. She's clearly a big player in this universe moving forward, and it helps she's so likeable!

WB and DCEU, you hear me now, finally you get someone who has the vision and understands and knows how to translate that onto film for everybody to enjoy your movies. DO NOT LET PATTY GO!!! Give her full control of Wonder Woman and hey, maybe Justice League 2 as well! She is a diamond and you and we need her! Give her already her contract as she wants it to be!
On other related news, kudos to Alicia Vela-Bailey!!
She is Gal's stunt double and she never gets the credit for it. She did an amazing job! Congrats Alicia!!! 😀💪🙅💥💫👏👏👏👏👏

"Warner Bros. didn’t sign up Jenkins for multiple movies, a standard practice"
That is true for actors, but is it that common for directors?

Yes it is common for directors. They only sign you for multiple films if you created a movie that made a lot of money for that particular studio.

I've heard (via the excellent Suicide Squadcast podcast) this was true for Nolan's Batman and Vaughn's X-Men.

Vaughn´s X-men was even rushed though production. That´s how little faith Fox had but it made the least money too. Nolan also only got to move forward as Returns was even less profitable than Begins, if it even made money.

Ayer, Nolan and most MCU directors can be named. Only Snyder got a muti-film deal from the DCEU line-up, as he has been a WB only employee since 2006. Let´s see if Matthew Vaughn will get more than 1 film on his contract, but even that means nothing if a director´s film flops. Not that there is a danger here. Remeber when Josh Trank had a Boba Fatt film lined up, before... you know?

LOL I love how the people that upvoted you were the same ones that were against Superman inspiring hope and basically being how Wonder Woman is.
Love seeing the backtracking. I can already see the damage controlling and them trying to change their original arguments, pretending that they never said it.

Fanboys being hypocrites, blinded by their own cognitive bias, determined to create their own narrative rather than accept reality?

I love MoS and BvS, and I don't want her to direct MoS 2. Snyder still fits the perfect bill. You're saying?

His return in JL is going to be huge. They're going to play up his return all movie long, and then he's going to come back when the rest of the league is down and defeated. It's going to be magical.

I know a few people wgo said the same about Branagh in Thor, and many even had faith in Alan Taylor.... and we know how that turned out. And despite not being perfect, the first one has the only few scenes in the trilogy so far that adapt the source material's mithology and "style" in the most respectful way: for example, Odin's prologue, and the fight against the Giants. And I aprecciate Kenneth for that, even if they film failed in other areas.
And I recall she was up for The Dark World at some point. Heck, the more I think about it, and after watching WW, the more I'm convinced that movie would have been a more solid adaptation, and an even better sequel.

I'm guessing if Patty can't come out with a story or an idea she can build on them she will probably pass. I'm pretty sure she will though.

I suppose it depends on the director in question. Patty is one thing, Kevin Smith quite another (keep those hockey sweaters, Kevin!)

I don´t think that she will be the biggest expanse on the sequel anyway. Not that WW had money sink stars attached in the same way BvS and SS had.
