'Justice League' villain Steppenwolf revealed in LEGO form

The trend of toys revealing the latest DC Comics movie villain continues! It's how we got our first look at Ares for Wonder Woman, and now an upcoming LEGO set gives us our first look at Steppenwolf for Justice League.

There will be three Justice League LEGO sets coming this summer (pictured above). Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack, Battle of Atlantis, and Flying Fox: Batmobile Airlift Attack. The latter set is the one that will include Steppenwolf.

Steppenwolf will be played by Ciaran Hinds through CGI and motion capture. Justice League hits theaters on November 17th.

And to anyone worried that Superman would be a brainwashed bad guy in the movie I think this is pretty conclusive proof he won't be.

  While Superman may very well be part of whatever scene this Lego set is portraying, I have a feeling his inclusion in this is just for the sake of him being in the movie and part of the JL as a whole.

    In this DCEU, where would he ever get the black one? I see people constantly saying he should be back with it, like in the comic books, but how? Even his blue suit was overlooked in Man of Steel, let alone another one in black/silver form.

      the suit was sealed inside a spaceship underground for two thousand years and still had color in MoS. I would facepalm if they say that it's color is due to solar radiation and that a year underground would turn it black.

  In the comics is a Jonathan Kent in coma who, in dreams, guides Superman to "the world of the living", but in this universe Pa Kent is not alive, so who knows. I hope to see Superman in a similar way as described. Zack surprised us with the "imagined dialogue" scene between Clark and Jonathan. It was really emotional, as well as very important for the development of the character at that point in the story. Maybe he keeps a similar surprise on this occasion.

    One of my favorite parts of the DCEU so far is the new way they're portraying Clark seeking advice from Pa Kent. Excellent stuff.

  If they're carrying the space-jesus motif through the three films. We saw Supes do the 40 day fast in the desert in BvS. JL should be all about his "descent into hell'. I imagine he'll be spending a good portion of the movie in dream mode dealing with Apokolips until the apostles of the Justice League resurrect him.
  The character is walking talking Deus Ex Machina so if they don't use his resurgence as the climax i would seriously be shocked.

LEGO is continually emptying my wallet! xD I still have to buy next month's new LEGO Batman Movie sets to finish up my collection of that movie, but soon after that, it looks like I'll be buying these too. I love how you get The Flying Fox AND the Batmobile in the same set! The minifigures are probably the main draw for me, though. Can't wait!!

  i saw it. That supposed 2 hour 8 minute runtime is VERY concerning. I hope sincerely hope its not real or I am going to start getting really worried. This is not a story you can cram into a two hour runtime. Ideally I think it should be about the same length as The Dark Knight Rises in my opinion

I'm guessing aquaman is approached by Bruce to join the league, he says no, then atlantis is attacked by steppenwolf with the shot you posted, causes aquaman to join the league and provide better insight to their common foe...

    Can be perfectly portrayed by an actor in a costume. I would have no problem with Darkseid being CGI like Thanos, but CGI Steppenwolf it wasn't necessary. That's like Marvel making a CGI Loki

        Size is not what makes a villain intimidating. DD was big and people laughed at him. Bane was average sized and he was far more intimidating.

        why were people laughing at DDay? He looked about how he should have looked. He was scary enough. Just a big ugly monster. Im not saying the guy should be freaking enormous, but he should be bigger than the League members. Couple feet taller than Superman. Idk. Something like that. And ya, I would say it probably does look a lot cooler than just a guy in a helmet

        Is this for real? You really can't think of any reason why they would laugh at such a generic look for him? The TMNT/LOTR comparisons were very fucking fair in that aspect. He looked incredibly fake, given he was CGI, he looked extremely bland and ugly, and never really posed any kind of intimidation or fear towards the audience, much like Ultron or any big robot in a marvel movie, ever. A guy in a costume (and yes, make him slightly taller than Superman and you're good to go) would look better because your brain would never just brand him as fake, and he'd have an actual presence and intimidation factor. CGI is not inherently bad, but the overuse of it or the unnecessary use of it does take away from the movie. Thanos or Darkseid should definitely be CGI, but for Steppenwolf it really seems unnecessary. Guess we'll only know for sure in November, though, but he does have a point. A 10 feet tall grey monster just feels silly when overused.

        Bane was the size of a human in TDKR. The greatest villains in movie history have not been CGI monsters. Hannibal Lecter was intimidating and he was a short old man. Intimidation is achived by showing the abilities and the behavior of characters.

        meh. Thats your opinion. I think he looks very frightening there. Also Bane was clearly meant to be a "large" human. Thats a big part of what makes Bane what he is. Also its not just CGI. Its motion capture. I dont really see why he has to be the same size as a human in order to be a good villain. That logic is weird. You are basically saying that, because he is not 100 percent grounded, he will suck and you label it as "another generic CGI villain". You can't hold everything to the exact same standard as the Nolan trilogy. And besides, that interpretation of Bane wasn't as strong as it could have been.

        Also Bane, was not an average sized human. Tom Hardy had to bulk up and appear 6 foot in film to look "intimidating".

    I post here because I like Batman and other DC heros. Plain and simple. That doesn't mean I have to be a blind fanboy who pretends everything about the DCEU is awesome and the rest of the world is wrong. It's evident the DCEU has been handled terribly so far and the last 2 movies have hurt the DC brand more than they have helped it.
    I'm not hyped for this movie because it's a Zack Snyder movie and I already know what to expect. I'm looking forward to movies like WW, Aquaman, The Batman, etc.

      Zack's villains are anything but Generic. Marvel villains fit that category.
      Michael Shannon as Zod was excellent in MoS. Ozymandius and Lex both won in their respective movies and were fleshed out (whether you liked it or not). Xerxes was interesting and different in 300 as well.

It's not entirely clear, but from the looks of it, it appears Steppenwolf will be Doomsday (BvS) sized big. I really don't like that. It makes them more like untouchable, faceless bad guys instead of layered villains whom the heroes can actually interact with without it looking absolutely ridiculous. I would much prefer a Hulk sized Stepponwolf to this.

        No. Your argument would make more sense if Stepponwolf was overexposed and featured in multiple live-action movies. Except he's not. No one even knows about him. It's folly to change something out of fear of becoming "stale", when Stepponwolf has never even had the chance of getting stale in the first place.

    Wasn't he huge in other films though? The problem I had with War Darkseid was that he didn't act like any of the past incarnations. He didn't exhibit the intellectual and manipulative behavior. He acted like a generic big guy.

Will there be an after credits scene? something suicide squad did but not Batman v superman. :/ it will be interesting to see which direction jenkins chooses. I think to brand after credits scenes as 'strictly marvel' is silly mostly because kong skull island had an after credits scene and no-one called it a 'marvel copy', it seems to be more a devise to establish world building i.e. a cinematic universe so i hope DC are not put off by marvel using them so frequently (sometimes, IMO, detrimentally)

      there very well could be. According to a leak there might actually be two credit scenes. Deathstroke tease in mid credits. Green Lantern tease at end credits

Did James Wan have anything to do with the production and design of JL? Specifically if there is a battle of Atlantis scene, thats going to rather impact on his own movie so would be good to know if he did or didn't have much input
