'Aquaman' director James Wan shares set photo as filming officially begins

We heard that Aquaman would begin filming in Australia in May, and they've wasted little time. Filming has officially begun!

Aquaman director James Wan just announced the news on Twitter with a photo of the clapperboard with "Day 1" written on it. We get to see the Aquaman logo and its working title Ahab as well. "Months of intensive prep has led to this. Here we go," Wan wrote.

In the background we can see they're shooting on what appears to be a submarine or boat right now. Aquaman is expected to shoot in Australia for the next six months. It will hit theaters on December 21, 2018.

Looks like the inside of a sub also kind of a bold statement but got this feeling Aquaman will be the best movie of not only the DCEU but best DC movie surpassing The Dark Knight

Good luck. These are borderline uncharted territories for film. I expected Cameron to set standard here but why not Aquaman. 6 months, eh? Just cut off his hand and we are good.

It´s basically a bigger budget remake of Comic Book Superheroes Unmasked, so watch both! You may recognize the themes of the DCEU films in even the Golden Age segment and they quickly rip apart Bob Kane. The segment on Batman´s "gay thing" is just the best. Ah the 50s, you were the worst.
The segment on Superman´s death should be familiar too. Kevin Conroy lastly does the voice-overs.
PS: Batman & Bill just landed too but Chris advertised it.

It looks like the Alexa 65 in a multi-axis rigging. I'm guessing the shot will rock around a bit and they need the camera to be stabilized while oscillating.

I really hope Wan, being a horror director, will make the intro like an emergency on a submarine everyone's like "we hit something" or "we're under attack" and well you know it's Atlanteans wrecking everything at supersonic speed and we see their shiny eyes in the dark

I just looked at Mr. Wan's filmography. I didn't know he directed so many films I enjoyed! 'Dead Silence' and 'The Conjuring 2' still gives me nightmares. He is underrated in giving female characters (antagonists and protagonists) style and substance. So glad he has Amber and Nicole working with him this time!

Now I know that individually, some may be looking more forward to Wonder Woman, JL, whatever, but Aquaman! The most awaited dceu film, by geek consensus anyway. Crazy. I'm in that consensus! Thanks to Obi James Wan Kenobi, and just the concept in general. As to Aquaman, he looks like a fun character. We'll see in a few months! The first theatrical Aquaman since Pa Kent's gill eared coast guard days!
