Jared Leto shares photo of his Joker vs. Ben Affleck's Batman in toy form

April 26, 2017

Last week Hot Toys unveiled an upcoming figure based on Jared Leto's Joker from Suicide Squad. In the photo shoot they shared on Facebook, they paired The Joker with their Batman figure and it made for some cool images.

Jared Leto himself caught wind of these photos, and decided to share one on his social media accounts. We see The Joker with his hands on Batman, and a knife at this throat!

Fans have been waiting for a moment like this to pop up on the big screen. The Joker and Batman were both in Suicide Squad, but never interacted directly with each other. With rumors that The Batman director Matt Reeves is putting together a new script, perhaps Jared Leto's Joker will finally get a chance to shine with Ben Affleck's Batman.

UGH, GOD!!!! This Joker looks so fucking dumb! Anytime I see him I feel this overwhelming sense of embarrassment. If he were actually a better Joker, I'd dig it. But EVERYTHING about him is so stupid. EVERYTHING.

I'd still rather have Deathstroke. If we have to have the Joker I hope they use Grant Morrison's "super-sanity" idea and have a completely insane Joker, clown at midnight idea going. SS Joker is not gonna work that well with this Batman.

I don't care if Egg Head and the Condiment King are the villains, as long as it's a great and involving Batman story. Seriously though, I would like to see Matt give us Man Bat or Dr. Hugo Strange (or both). Devised in the Steve Englehart and Marshall Rogers spirit.

I feel like we need to know just what happened to Robin from that BvS scene in the Batcave. Are we gearing towards a Red Hood spinoff? If we're not going to get a Robin can we please get a Dick?....Grayson. If we're getting a Batgirl movie I damn sure want some acrobatic dick cameos.

I love The Joker. I think Ben Affleck makes a solid Batman and was one of the best parts of BVS. But this version of the Joker was awful in every scene he was in. Cringeworthy to the point of making you want to vomit in your mouth when he calls common a big "hunka hunka". I'm glad they cut what they did of him out of suicide squad, even if that movie was still a dumb music video-like mess. I hadn't watched the Dark Knight in like 3 years and watched it again earlier this week just for the hell of it. Heath is mesmerizing in the first few minutes he's even on screen after showing his face in the bank. I had hoped that Leto could do as good or even better, truly hoped for it, but he's terrible in 2 minutes, 6 minutes or any minute of screen time. It was staggeringly bad beyond what I ever expected and this Joker is not able to be salvaged unless he changes his approach to the character entirely or is recast. I'm not a Nolan fanboy either since I thought TDKRises was pretty meh. This Joker is truly just abysmally that bad and I'm saying this as someone who didn't even mind the tattoos at all.

Jared Leto as the Joker never did it for me in SUICIDE SQUAD.
Joker openings must be visually iconic: like Nicholson's tense build up in the shadows before a disturbing reveal; or Ledger's too up close and personal unsettling unmasking. Leto's riveting introduction? A flashback, of him in a straight-jacket sitting at a table...
Joker kills also need to be theatrical. A poison quill or a pencil, a hand-buzzer or a potato peeler. What did Leto's Joker use? A handgun - with the death off-screen, and in a garish epileptic-inducing flashback.
The Joker also needs to carry a sustained but unpredictable threat of malevolent violence. I never got that with Leto. He was just too 'institutionalized', like he was a bling gangster. That normalized him, and personally, the Joker should never ever be normalized.
I'll keep an open mind, but we need a filmmaker that realizes what a force of nature the Joker is.

'Jared Leto as the Joker never did it for me in the Academy Award winning SUICIDE SQUAD.'
  There, fixed that for you.
Aah, the butthurt of marvelites is strong.
The last time a cbm won an Academy Award it was also a DC movie, that included the Joker - The Dark Knight.
The look of Leto's Joker is entirely original, and it was one of the major contributing factors in SS winning the Oscar.
  Deal with it!

Really hope they let Leto go totally Joker next time around. We know he is a very capable actor and I think a character like Joker on his hands can be good, but don't interfere again by cutting his role!
The combination of Affleck/Johns/Reeves talents, IMO, can lead to a good script, and I think they can get very psychological with these characters (just like the best fights these two have had). The way Affleck has play with that in his films like Gone Baby Gone, Johns on his comics and Reeves with Apes and his dychotomy about who's good/who's bad can lead to a very personal, psychological confrontation
A showdown of Joker against Batfleck should be nothing short of EPIC!

It's so hard for me to get into this Joker now. They shouldn't have blown the load on SS (imo), although that is a big variable to blame for the tons of $$$ it made. Wonder what Heath's Joker would have to say about that trade-off.

that's awesome! Is it bad that I really like this joker? There was some cringeworthy moments in SS, but it fit with a joker that's already well established and has been doing nasty stuff for over a decade, at least, like hiss antics are way worse, it felt like an older joker that was on top and untouchable. If Nicholson Joker didn't die, how would he have changed if he would have been a joker for another 10 years? Also, how would Ledger's joker would have transform after 10 years fighting batman? Just with Ledger, the joker remaining the way he was portrayed in TDK for 10 years would have become boring. I've liked all the jokers so far, they all have added a twist that makes the character the best nemesis in comics.

It's such a tragedy that we get the most accurate, awesome Batman peeled straight from the comic book pages and he gets paired with this embarrassing hot topic bullshit Joker. Thanks a lot David Ayer.

I mean theres a good chance he would have. He made a great Batman, a great Alfred, a great Perry White, arguably a great Superman, a great Wonder Woman, probably a great Aquaman, Flash, and Cyborg, e.t.c.
David Ayer did not do a single character well besides Harley Quinn, and even then hes lucky he got the right actress to barely be able to overcome that horrible design. Acting like Zack Snyder is on par with David Ayer and we were doomed either way is ridiculous.

They should use him in a larger form in the 2nd Bat solo film and not push him him too far in the first.
It will be kind of hard to put the genie back in the bottle, after the biggest card got played. More of him in Sirens though is fair game, kind of expected frankly.

Damaged?
April 27, 2017
Dear. God. Can someone again remind me how in the holy hell this Joker exists? Damaged tattooed on his head...I honestly give angsty 15 year old EMO kids more credit to come up with something better. Although the HAHAHA and the word JOKER tattooed on him are much cooler and more inventive (*barf).
It still seems like a bad joke in itself that the coolest bad guy in the history of bad guys period could be ruined to such a degree. The Joker is hanging out at the club? Seriously?
It sort of blows my mind that Leto was into this Joker so much..I had such high hopes...
Please. Stop trying to copy Marvel. Stop using recurring characters...make GOOD standalone films or trilogies. I don't care that these movies are blowing up the box office...they're one watch flicks that have no rewatchability and anyone who thinks otherwise is absolutely out of their mind.

Looking for any tattoo artists to tattoo: "upset" "disappointed" or "whining fanboy" on my forehead. (Possibly with an option to include various generic stock photos/art that can really tell a person who I am and what I'm all about). Also. If you're telling me to "get over it" you've seriously come to the wrong forum...oh oh..add a teardrop too!! Maybe two! And, aw what the hell...throw in a mommy tat on the bicep for good measure. Get bent for defending that crapola.

SS was a total messs the design was from Ayer himself with the tatoos and he was in like 10mins total over a 2+hour movie and he mostly was there to develop Harley and thats it.
Leto with better writers/directors can do wonders he has proved his acting chops in the past and im quite sure they will call him for Batman solo movie he is a big name actor.
