New 'Gotham' trailer features a Catwoman throwback to 'Batman Returns'

Gotham finally returns next week from its long winter hiatus, and FOX released a new trailer today to let everyone know.

The thing that stood out to me was a scene that looks like it was ripped right out of Batman Returns. We see Selina Kyle laying lifeless on the ground with some broken glass around her, like she was just pushed out of a window. A cat comes by, and I can only imagine there will be a few more behind it to bring Ms. Kyle back to life. That's exactly how Michelle Pfeiffer transformed into Catwoman in Batman Returns, so it'll interesting to see how the Gotham version plays out.

There's lots more villains featured in the new trailer, so check it out in full above. Gotham season 3 returns Monday, April 24 on FOX.

I'm sure the cat stuff is just a fun call back. That was one of the weaker parts of the Burton Batmans.

  The show is bad ... like really bad. The timeline for these characters makes ZERO sense. But to each their own. Wish they had time jumped 6-7 years into the future and show Bruce becoming Batman

Yes and it's still garbage. Stopped watching after enduring 2 and half of it. Always hoping it might get better, but it never came to happen. DC shows are the worst shows I've ever seen. Marvel is doing veeeeeeery fine with theirs, if compared to DC. Legion is a really great piece.

    Supergirl is awful. I cringed through the first 2 episodes of this season. So bad. I couldn't bring myself to watch more.
    Flash was great, now it's becoming a pretty unbearable show. Heard in a coming episode he is going yet again to the night his mother was killed...

Love it. Love Batman Returns, and love that Gotham loves it too. She looks like Michelle, she acts like Michelle, so make her the new Michelle. It's fine, nobody can top that performance anyway, so at least imitate it.

Also, I see a lot of nice looking special effects, did they get a bigger budget?

it looks like they are now trying to salvage the show and get Bruce more Batman ready but the actor is still to young to be believable. Wish they had just said fuck it and flash forward like 6-7 years and recasted.

We were never, and are never, going to see Bruce's Batman career on this show. It's always been intended to have the Smallville ending, with Bruce in the suit for his first night as Batman, except unlike Tom Welling I don't think that David is going to refuse to actually wear it.
So far as the age thing goes, most of the villains we've seen have always appeared to be older in the comics anyway, at least to me. I've never thought of Riddler, or Penguin, or Mr. Freeze as primarily physical threats in the sense that their defeat revolves around Batman beating them up.

  True, shit changes, but so far as the rest goes I think we're saying much the same thing: Bruce getting into the costume is the intended end of the show (WB would get a LOT more money if they actually do Batman as an ongoing thing). If they're smart, the last episode not only will have Bruce in the suit, but manage to give us, or hint at, the origin of the Joker without us really knowing who's under the red hood.

Anyone else saw that nod to Christopher Nolan's Interstellar (around 0:14)? I like the trailer, and hopefully it gets better for this season. It's been ok for me, maybe it'll lead to making season 4 its best season.

.....and I still wonder why they have not gone back to Scarecrow. To just leave him like that, and not revisit, kinda a let down for me.

My biggest problem with Gotham (and there are many) is little David Mazouz as Bruce. A shallow complaint, as his acting is fine, but he appears to look younger and younger each season. I fear that lil Bruce has the Benjamin Button disease.

LOL, they're not even trying to pretend anymore that their original vision for the show hasn't failed miserably, and now they are basically giving up and making a Batman show sans Batman.

I'm really, really hoping that DC stops being retarded, cancels this garbage and gets Batman a proper TV show. Screw the "movie version interfering with the TV version" excuse, that never stopped anyone else.
