We've seen Amber Heard physically preparing for her role as Mera in Aquaman, and now the actress is preparing mentally as well.
Heard just shared a photo on Instagram of a stack of Aquaman comic books. "Catching up on my reading #aquaman #dccomics," she wrote.
Heard is expected to head down to Australia in the next few weeks to begin work on Aquaman. The movie is being directed by James Wan and will be released on December 21, 2018.

I like how they take inspiration from lots of different comics rather than trying to closely replicate a specific incarnation. Seems I'm in the minority with the amount of bitching that goes on about casting and approaches though.
Probably just catching the essence of Mera and not necessarily the plots of the comics

Although we haven't seen her in JL yet, I'm pretty sure she'll do great. Because, Snyder can bring the best out of all the casts. I mean, look at Cavill. Nobody knows him before MoS. Now, look at him.

"Snyder can bring the best out of all the casts"? Even if that were true (which it isn't, he really is a very poor actor's director), Cavill is well known nowadays because he is playing Superman. Regardless of the director chosen, he'd be a famous actor because he is playing such a huge pop culture icon.
The same exact thing applied to Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh. Both were unknowns before playing Superman, and afterwards both became well known, though their careers were very lackluster after playing the character.
Frankly, I'm just hoping he has a big enough role to standout in MI6, so he can start having better roles in movies where he can show more of his natural charisma, something he really hasn't been able to do in the DCEU.

She's known about her role since over a year ago..... and is just now barely starting to read a few comics about Mera. Doesn't sound like true interest/dedication - it's the equivalent clip notes.
Conclusion: An actress reading source material needed for her work is as rare as having a house full of gizmo.

Amber Heard looks like Amber Heard. That face alone says she's going to play Mera too soft. I hope I'm wrong. The blonde hair is annoying as hell. Don't get me wrong, I do hope she does great. Hoping she applies herself and dedication that she did pre 2011.
