Yesterday Joe Manganiello revealed how close he was to playing Superman in Man of Steel, but today director Zack Snyder shared an awesome photo of the man who ended up with the job.
Snyder posted a picture on Vero of his first screen test with Henry Cavill as Superman. "First test with Henry... I knew right away he was my Superman," Snyder wrote.
They didn't have the Man of Steel suit built yet, so Cavill did his test wearing Christopher Reeve's Superman costume.

Get over yourself, fascist. Fans have differing opinions, and they call out what they don't like not because they want to spoil your little echo chamber, but because they, ya know, have different points of view. I'm actually very pro-DCEU and have defended Snyder from the onslaught he received after BvS. I critique these movies not because I'm a contrarian, but because I want them to be more faithful to characters' mythos. Is that so bad?

I think the false complaints he could be referring to would be stuff like "they didn't have to terraform Earth; they could've terraformed any other planet." Or someone saying Snyder's Superman enjoyed killing Zod when he showed immediate remorse and only killed when he absolutely had to.
That's not a "false complaint," but a legitimate criticism. There's said to be over 600 sextillion stars in the universe, most of which have planets in their orbits. They COULD have found a viable alternative.
How about when Superman smashed that African through two walls? Was it just me, or did he have an unsettling smirk on his face before committing the act? There's enough evidence to prove that this Superman comes off as slightly sadistic.
All of those outposts they visited were barren, and they didn't have an infinite power supply to jump all over the place. In fact, they had pretty much given up before the scout ship beacon was activated (giving them exactly what they need: a viable planet and the codex).
Superman did this thing with Lois called nonverbal communication. It's only something we humans tend to use more than actual speaking. That's why she calmed down and let go of the General, allowing Superman to take him down while leaving her safely planted on her feet.

Superman is fighting a person who has lost everything and won't stop until he has taken everything or died. Superman was nonlethal throughout the fight. Then when he gets him in a hold, Zod tried to kill a bystander family. Clark begs him to stop before snapping his neck at the last moment. He did not mercilessly kill him without hesitation. Thank you again for proving my point.

Just rewatched the scene. There was nothing that indicated that the were on limited power supply, or even that they require a molten core, as you've explained. Who's the one who's taking things out of context and making things up, again?
I was referring to the African scene, remember?
They scavenged the phantom drive just before starving to death. Even an unscavaged form wasn't near enough to keep Krypton from drilling its core for energy. They had limited resources and limited power (use your brain, of course they can't use endless energy to try out every planet and beyond that why would they when they get handed Earth which houses the codex?), that means that Zod had a limited number of jumps with the Black Zero.
A molten core is just science. You're not going to terraform a planet without one.
It's alien technology used by a species that is practically invulnerable. Why can't we assume the technology is no different? Which brings me to a new question - why would the Kryptonians wish to terraform Earth when it inables them with the power of gods?

Because the process is extremely painful and Zod did not want to risk it. He even explicitly says that to Clark when offered to coexistence with humanity.

I don't get your question. Krypton had an energy crisis, so clearly they're technology was sub-par to the ecological and likely economical consequences.
Those Kryptoniana did not have those powers that Superman had. Zod is the only other Kryptonian that got to share those abilities. So again, I don't understand what you're trying to question.
Beyond that, they still required the Codex. They find it on Earth. Earth is compatible for them, only they need to terraform it so that they won't have to adapt to the environment.
It's theoretical. I'm saying if the Kryptonians could perform well under anatomical means thanks to the sun, then their technology would be more easily sustained due to solar energy. Leaving them with a great resource for exploration. Not necessarily having to terraform Earth, although I understand the Codex's importance.
Although we only saw Zod with heat vision, both Faora and the giant Kryptonian displayed powers, too.

I theoretically pondered the possibility of using the sun as a means of solving that limited power problem with solar energy, making a search for a planetary alternative much easier. Not necessarily taking Earth.

I mean, they had been searching for Kal-El to repopulate their new planet, since they assumed that he still had the codex with him, well he still does. Remember, "I WILL FIND HIM"?

No way the media in BvS would not have brought it up at least three times if he had.
They were referring to the piles of incinerated bodies, not the man Superman smashed through a wall at 100 mph. That guy definetely had to have died. The force he was hit with was relatively equivalent to swatting a fly.
People have been thrown from cars going 70mph and lived. If there isn't anything confirming his death, it probably did not happen. Especially when you take internet context that those incinerated bodies could easily be proven not to be victims of Superman yet were used to incriminate him. Why not add a legitimate casualty?
Falling to the ground at 70 mph is not the same thing as getting crushed through a wall by a guy who flies faster than a speeding bullet. Saying Superman didn't kill that guy is as asinine as implying that Batman killed villains "by proxy."
Superman's hand placed behind the guy's head and arm covering much of the guy's upper back (where the impact with the walls would occur) would be plenty to make sure the guy did not die.
The in-film evidence is extremely in favor of the general being alive. Just taking only the scene of impact into account, this is just as good of a reading as the man dying from being crushed. But there's more in-film evidence than just those 2 seconds.
You literally have to make Superman convincingly lie to an eyewitness of the incident who happens to be the woman he loves in order for the general to be dead. And then pretend the biased media would let him off for that fatality.

Then Superman saying, "I didn't kill those men..." would effectively make him a liar if he killed that guy. He didn't kill anyone, man.
"Realistic" physics would have killed everyone in that scene too and Superman dragging people tough walls, while his fist smash them, is a comic accurate move.
Did you know in the script and the kid's novel, there is this Kryptonian cultural element brought up between Zod and Kal? Basically, Zod could replace Jor-El as Kal's father since he killed him, and he actually wanted (or at least was willing) to do so. I thought that was a cool thing; kinda wish it made it's way into the film.
I hope to at least get a bunch of deleted/alternate scenes down the line.
Nothing that's ever been confirmed tells you that there would be a three hour cut of Man of Steel. Also, you really need to fucking understand that bigger does not equal better, especially when it comes to movies.
Zod had visited planets that had Kryptonian settlements, but all of the settlers were dead. So Zod couldn't just pick any planet to call home. Earth seemed to be a good option since Kal was able to grow up there.

Zack Snyder has more joyful passion for his work than any director I'm aware of. I really hope Justice League is good!

As for joyful passion for his work? You ought to watch more interviews with the man. There are some where he tries to look excited, but in most he just couldn't give any less fucks about it.
You also should look up actual good directors who actually have a passion for filmmaking, and not just adapting other people's works and making dumb and loud schlocky comic book films.
Hell, just watch Spielberg talking about on how he didn't want to make a fourth Indiana Jones movie, when interviewed for the fourth Indiana Jones movie. He's more excited and energetic there than I've ever seen Snyder being about any of his movies.

Personally I like him better in this suit. Its more of a presence or personality to it. Much prefer it the slim one over the other one.

I kinda disagree. The DCEU suit is kinda bleh to me. Its not helped with the color being completely stripped and make it come off more grey and ugly to look at. I much prefer the Christopher Reeve one. It has more presence, personality and actually feels more effective than the overdramatized muscle brute suit Cavill has to wear. Then again I blame John Peters on this because of his stupid statement on Superman.

There is no grey color in the dceu suit. Are the colors darker? Yes but the suit in bvs is much brighter and shows much more definition of supes muscles and it also has a personality with it's unique design. It also has a good presence.
Well, its kinda hard to tell because the lighting makes hard to see at times. Also I find more definition in the normal suit than the overemphasis on muscles suits. I'd put it on par with the ASM 1 suit. Really kinda lame. ASM 2 did give us the best suit in that series. That's the only good thing in that movie though because I think ASM 2 is just as bad as BvS. If you like them, fine, but I personally found them huge messes and key examples of bad filmmaking.

I don't think it was hard to see anything everything was perfectly clear and stood out. His bvs suit is much better cause it takes both suits and combines them together.

No, in an interview he said he wasn't in best shape when auditioning for MOS, the suit didn't fit him and he was sure casting people will not like him but as soon as he walked into the room everybody said he was Superman.
Well, considering he was as I said "rupped as hell" before that, not being in the best shape may mean he was just in average shape, just how the pic above looks, and he felt insecure about that because Superman is supposed to be in the best shape possible. But he definitely was not fat.

I like that they have a red belt as homage of that in the new Superman's suit though. It looks more balanced now than with the plain blue, IMO

If I remember correctly it was confirmed that Reeve was not inserted in that scene... it's just that he and Cavill have similar faces, mostly on certain agnles like that one. I mean they are the 2 people that look like Superman the most! they obviously look alike.
