Did David Ayer just tease Black Mask for 'Gotham City Sirens'?

Gotham City Sirens director David Ayer just posted a cryptic photo on Twitter!

The photo is of the Batman villain Black Mask, and this particular panel is from the graphic novel "Batman: Under the Red Hood". Could Ayer be teasing his role in Gotham City Sirens? I would say yes! Let me know what you all make of this tweet in the comments section below.

Gotham City Sirens will feature the trio of Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. If Ayer's tweet is anything to go by, I think we may have an idea of who the three ladies will be going up against. Stay tuned to Batman News for more details as we get them!

I've wanted a Black Mask movie for a long time now to the point I was disappointed when Deathstroke was announced for The Batman movie, but this will do.

    I think I've had so many people tell me I'm wrong that that was Lex in the storyboards and not Black Mask that I had ruled out the possibility.

Oh my god, YES please! Been waiting to see a Black Mask cinematic interpretation, he's made for it. Don't screw him up Ayer! Stick to what you wish you would have done with the first Suicide Squad and make this grounded.

    Samantha Jo played Car-Vex in Man of Steel yet she is playing the amazon Euboea in Wonder Woman and Justice League.
    As long as his role wasn't huge they can use them as another character in the DCEU.

  If you saw the Squad concept art from yesterday, it suggests to me that he did initially plan to capitalize wonderfully on both of them. No idea what happened.
  He's come out and said he sees the mistakes fans saw, so I'm willing to give him a second shot with lessons learned.

    Ayer is as much to blame as the studio. It was his script, it was his choice of villain, he was the one behind the piss poor handling of the characters. Even the action was lacklustre.

Come on, Ayer, don't let me down man. I hated Suicide Squad so, so much, but I hope he can redeem himself here. Been waiting to see Black Mask on the big screen for the longest time; I hope he makes it alright.

Might as well make a Batman Cinematic Universe cause they completely abandoned Superman. Is Man of Steel 2 even happening, what happened to Justice League dark, wasnt there an announcement for Lobo movie and that Flash movie is still in limbo.

  MoS 2 is confirmed to be in development. And he's going to be in Justice League. So no, not abandoned at all. Aquaman starts shooting soon. Jutice League Dark has a director and is now going by the name "Dark Universe" I think. The Green Lantern Corp movie was also announced. The Flash movie is going through a page one rewrite. I'm about 100% sure that the Cyborg movie is going to be scrapped in favor of Nightwing unless people really respond well to Cyborg in JL. As it stands I believe the current line up is :
  Wonder Woman
  Justice League
  Aquaman
  And I have no idea what the next movie after Aquaman is supposed to be. I know Batman took the spot of Justice League 2. And as far as I can tell it appears to be the only one that is on track (by WB/DC standards anyways) with a director, main actors cast, and a script(?).

    Ya think? He just played a villain in Doc. Strange, I didn't watch the movie but from all the positive talk and reviews I'm assuming he was great in it. Plus, if Sirens has a smaller scale compared to SS - which I'm assuming it has - Black Mask may have a nice arc and plenty of screen time. Pluus, considered Mads happily played a magical dude in Doc. Strange he'll more than happily play a tough mob boss, I think it fits more his style. Or maybe you're right and I just want him to play the role really bad.

        The DCEU is not really good in the villain department either, we had Zod and that's the end of it. Actually the whole superhero genre has been lacking in their villains recently, looking forward to seeing what Logan did by the end of this week.

        Lex was really bad in my opinion, seriously lacked motivations and every part of the plot that had to deal with him was either full of holes or messy and convoluted (he's really reminiscent of the also bad Zemo from Civil War, plan equally as stupid and motivations, if any, even more stupid). Regarding Batman and Superman, none of them were developed nearly enough as heroes to be loved by the public, much less as antagonists to be considered villains. But we're better off not discussing this since I know it won't lead anywhere, believe what you will and you interpret what you want but don't forget that a true thing, poorly expressed, is a lie. This quote sums up BvS pretty well in my point of view, although beautiful lie would actually fit it better considering it's nice visuals - damn, who knew Ben would sum the movie up so well within the first minute!

If this is actually a tease for what's to come I think it's a good call. Ayer seemed regretful that he didn't do a more "grounded" story with Suicide Squad so it makes that he would try to go more low key with his villain choice in terms of power set or lack thereof. A Gotham City Cirens movie that deals with the Sirens messing wth Black Mask's mob operation could be really cool.

So, if Bright ends up being good, by following the pattern, we need to have Mr. Ayer direct another movie before he shoot Gotham City Sirens.

I would have preferred this guy in The Batman,so now that seems like a missed opportunity.I'm also not jazzed over Ayer directing GCS since most of his movies are male oriented and I'm not sure he can do the women justice,but we'll see.

    But she was toned down,just as all the other characters were.I also don't want to see the Sirens turned into antiheroes again,like in SS.This guy would be responsible for the watering down of DC's best villains.
    I should note that Catwoman does fit the antihero criteria,but not always.

      Agree that she was kinda watered down, but it doesn't mean she wasn't one of the highlights.
      IMO, I think the Sirens acted sometimes as antiheroes too, so I suppose it depends on where the story goes (they could perfectly join forces to screw Black Mask fpr example).
      I think Catwoman, as of now, is more antihero than villain as we could see in a recent storyline

first, we need the complete original cut of SS released
second, the only not a total villain character there is Catwoman, and it would be stupid to make the other two antiheroines
third, i dont like this idea at all, even less as a debut movie for those characters in the dccu, it will bomb unless is very good which WB wont let them do it

He may have shit the bed with Suicide Squad but I still have faith in him. WB gave him a relatively short amount of time to write that script and the man wrote Training Day and directed/wrote End of Watch and Fury.
I just want to see a simple story that's *appropriate* for these characters. No big city destroying threat. Something personal instead. A man-on-the-run story. Catwoman should be the main protagonist NOT Harley.
-Open the movie with Catwoman stealing something (doesn't matter what it is) from Black Mask.
-Black Mask puts a hit on Catwoman in response. You could have fun with this and have Catwoman fight a few obscure DC villains before the heavy hitters come out and she realizes she needs help.
-Come up with some reason why she doesn't go to Batman for help. It doesn't really matter what it is. She goes to Poison Ivy instead. Maybe Ivy owes Catwoman a favor or something and begrudgingly agrees to help.
-Harley just happens to be with Ivy because they're friends like in the animated series.
-Bada-bing bada-boom, you've got a great dynamic going between these 3 characters.
-Something, something, something they fight Black Mask

        Yes but Freeze is still a step further than Croc... I think the closest thing we'll get to Freeze is Captain Cold, in either a Suicide Squad supporting role or as a Flash villain.

  Perhaps. I say Karl Urban because I'd love to get him in the DCEU. He's a great actor and I'd love to see him as a villain. Plus, I'd love to see him up against Batfleck in the future.

All the pieces are there now, for an overarching set up (eastereggs in GSC and NIGHTWING, payoff in Batman solo) and Reeves said he wants to do an "emotional" take on Batman...

  Nightwing is only being discussed right now. If it even happens it'll come out after Justice League 2 so years after The Batman. Hopefully they keep Deathstroke alive. That way when they do the inevitable Titans movie(which Nightwing will open the doors to) he can be the villain for that one.

    I'm just guessing for now because Nightwing seems to have a writer and director (I know it's just "in talks" for now), whereas JL2 has neither and has been replaced with the Batman solo for the time being. Plus it would be the most WB-est move to have GSC, NW, and Batman release in 2019 due to it being Batman's 80 anniversary lol

  I think Deathstroke is a very interesting villain for Affleck and Reeves to use. He hasn't been adapted to the big screen before so they got some creative freedom there. Deepening out a character can help a lot, not just showing him kicking Batman's ass.
  Must say I am totally down for a Red Hood Batman film.

    I agree that he's a great villain to bring. I'm just guessing for fun haha. Reeves tends have rewrites done on the movies he makes (tossed out Dawn/Apes original script for one that suited his tastes), so there technically is a chance he changes the story in large amounts including the villain. The great thing is that with Nightwing, if he does make changes, WB can literally just switch Slade Wilson to the other film lol

  It's just a thought haha. I was thinking how cool it would be for 3 different franchises to have their own built up mini event just in the Batman universe, within the bigger DC universe. Kind of like how Captain America had the bucky/steve storyline in the backgrounds of each Cap film, except at the end they had the whole MCU get involved.
  I guess what I mean is that it would be kinda cool to see an event built up which is still small in scale

So, I've never read a GCS comic if there's such a thing. So is this movie just gonna be a batman story from the pov of the bad girls or are they making all 3 of them anti heroines or what? does anyone have an idea as to how this movie could go?

  I'm hoping it'll just be some backstabbing, betrayal-type villain-on-villain action.
  Thing is, there's this one (which had Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy in the comic), and then there's "Birds of Prey" that's being fast-tracked as well; which will have Harley Quinn too (and Poison Ivy, I think?). So I have no idea what the hell is going on with these characters other than Harley Quinn seems to be getting her own potential franchise. (?)

    Is it confirmed that Harley will be in Birds? I thought that series focused on Oracle/Batgirl, Huntress, and Black Canary?
    Would be killer if that movie set up a Green Arrow movie, speaking of Canary... Could also tie-in well with the Nightwing movie if they wanted.

  I'm almost positive that GCS will be done right, Ayer said his mistake was to not keep it grounded. I love Ayer's past movies, trust me if he gets time to put it together, which he is, GCS is going to be phenomenal.
