      I actually agree with that statement. Ben Affleck isn't bigger than the film or bigger than the character of Batman and shouldn't be. They have a really good director in Matt Reeves and if this upcoming Batman film is great thanks to the director I'd be much more comfortable if Affleck left and they brought someone else on, than if Matt Reeves left and they got another director for the next film. I can't think of someone I'd prefer over Matt Reeves at the moment.

         To be honest I'm not here to debate that fact. There are other directors, there are other actors.

         I just want them to stop talking about it now. Ben seems committed which has been reiterated by this weeks news, let's roll with that until we have an actual reason to believe otherwise, and stop talking about him leaving the DCEU. I feel like they want him to at this point.

            Its better to adjust to the idea of him leaving so that when it happens, we can better cope with it. Anyway, its Affleck's fault for making us weary of his words. He did say just a week before the announcement he wasn't directing that he would direct on national television. And his contract expires after one more film, so the discussions about him leaving are even more relevant.

      You want to feel like the superheros are tangible, like they could come right off the screen. Of course some of it has to be CGI but please use practical whenever you can. Otherwise it looks like a floating head on a CGI body.

         If you genuinely think a cheesy as hell, spandex green lantern costume would look better than an infinitely better CGI rendered suit then I genuinely worry for you.

         Most of this crybaby crap I hear about "practical is soooo much better than CGI" is exactly that.......crap.

         Laughably clueless, eye rolliing, complete and utter CRAP.

   Not like it would ever actually happen. But a big fat NO to Dick Grayson permanently taking over as Batman, in a cinematic universe. Trying to make Nightwing a mainstream character that could carry his own franchise, is the reason you would even make a Nightwing movie, in the first place.💰💰

      Dick Grayson (as Robin) is DC´s 4th biggest character after the Trinity. They know that too and building him up to take over next decade is one of the most logical ways to go forward, as Affleck won´t stay for a decade+. Let´s see what Disney will do with Bucky and such a takeover would be comparable to rebooting without rebooting. A move that can be done only once.

         I think Joker is considerably bigger than Grayson, and Flash could also make a claim, at the moment at least. I'd definitely love to see Grayson being a big part of DCEU, but I don't think DC needs to rely on one/some of their well known characters to go forward, especially to the point you have to turn Grayson into Batman. I'd rather prefer Ben replaced by another actor when he's done with the character. They can also build new characters. There are many interesting characters who could catch over with the audience in big way like Ironman. There will be a point where no current actor would want to continue playing the character, they will have to reboot it after some time.

            The Joker never carried a franchise and Robin should be the most adapted comic character of all time after Batman and Superman. Us getting Black Adam or Iron-man movies is proof that anything can make money. Squad ended up being more successful than MoS and Marvel never had a successful Hulk film, despite being an A-list character.

               Carrying a franchise doesn't make him a bigger character, though. Joker is easily most popular villain of all-time, and is more recognizable to general audience than Robin.
               I won't say anything can make money, or else, a well known superhero like Green Lantern, would have made a lot of money.

               What I basically meant is they don't have to turn Grayson into Batman. If done correctly, Affleck can be replaced should he leave midway. Grayson first needs to catch up with the audience as Nightwing. People would also want to see him as Robin, a side kick to Batman, to even accept him as the Batman, and I don't think he can be seen as Robin in this DCEU. He must have already left as Jason Todd is dead in this universe.

               Green Lantern is not a "well know" superhero, like at all.
               The Joker was borderline missing from plication for at least 2 decades. It was actually the 89 movie and TAS that made him go A-list. I am also pretty sure that Satan has a few millennia on the Joker. Dracula is bigger than him too. The list goes on but he ended up being the most overused modern comic villain.

               Green Lantern is still more popular than likes of Antman and others who have made more money than him. You said anything can make money, Green Lantern didn't.

               Are we talking about their current status in modern culture, or just their comic book publications exclusively? Pretty sure most of moviegoers today don't give a damn about comics. There's a reason he's the only villain who's appeared thrice on big screen, people want him to, or else there are hundreds of other villains out there as well, I would say it is more of an achievement, than him being overused. And, the fact is, he's a more popular character than Robin today regardless of their history. I do love Robin, but I'm just stating the truth.

            Harley doesn´t go back to 1938-40 though. She is their current "4th pillar" right now, to quote Jim Lee, but Superman is still the most profitable US hero of all time. The most adapted one too.
            Robin is also a bigger character than ANY Marvel superhero not called Spider-man. That WB never tried to go solo with him on the silver screen (it nearly happened in the 90s) is frankly bonkers. But they had to make that Steel movie... A+ choice there.

   I'm glad you addressed the stuff about DC fans getting on you guys for saying things they don't like to hear. I find it a bit disconcerting sometimes and even more negative and dark than hearing bad news coming from WB/DC. I've hated seeing certain fans slowly turn on people that have been nothing but supportive of the DCEU from the beginning just because they've started to say things they didn't like to hear. It makes the community feel so much less welcoming and fun. I've never liked the idea that it's okay when you're delivered good news, but the moment you hear something bad that person is automatically biased and hater.

      I agree with everything you said. There's just endless possibilities of the thoughts that go into these things and people's motives. From the people making the films to the people that report on this stuff. I don't mind DC fans ranting and raving about what they like and what they don't like pertaining to the films. It's just goes a bit further when I see them taking it personally and attacking other people that report on it as if they're all of sudden villians. That aint cool.

      I do agree there had been maybe a few that I was like :/ about their negativity towards the DCEU but at the same time I would have to keep saying to myself "take a breath, calm down. It's fine for them to feel the way they feel. That's their opinion. don't let it get to you". It would be especially hard when it came from people I followed that I really liked. But that's when I was like, nah if this was your friend you wouldn't just abandon them because you didn't agree right?? lol.

      I think the thing that I have to remember is that MOST of the people reporting on this stuff even if they have a negative slant to it are FANS first and that's why they talk like that and care so much. If they didn't they wouldn't even care about it. Think of Transformers. EVERYONE knows those films are crap and when you say it or hear about it no one even argues about it or shouts at you because they DON'T CARE. Critics, bloggers, pundits are just as much fans as everyone else they just look at it with a more critical eye sometimes.

      I did the same thing for a while too. Took a break from the boards. It was less so because of the negative news, but just the negative environment that I think some fans were spreading. Like if you don't share their opinion you're an idiot and all these other things. I can't stand that.

      I like what you said though, bad news could lead to good news. It's definitely true. Ben leaving as director was negative, but I definitely think Matt Reeves is a positive+++.

   Well, I didn't listen the whole conversation cause none of your thoughts make sense to me! First, let me share my thoughts about Matt Reeves:) Is he a good director? Yes he is but not as great as you stated! Those movies, especially Planet of Apes were technically awesome in terms of great visual effects but it has to be! There's no other logical reason of re-making Apes after the original classic! They have to be visually ground-breaking and yeah, they achieved it! But Reeves is not a director like Burton or Snyder in terms of having a strong vision to create strong visuals. Burton directed Beetlejuice just before Batman and for some he was an odd choice but the movie had some crazy designs and visuals from the sick mind of him but I can't see the same light in Reeves! Nolan's trilogy was a masterpiece in its own reality but to me it is more like a crime-drama which is far from the magical touch of Burton movies. Batman is a freak show not a Michael Mann directed crime-drama just Nolan did! Second, common Ben know the rules of Hollywood! He is an Oscar winning director so didn't he know what will gonna happen before signing the deal? Robert Downey is playing Iron-Man for years so what? Also if Affleck wants to quit, so again what? Sean Connery quits on playing Bond and what happened? :) I am sorry but to me Affleck is a coward! The entire universe tears Snyder apart after the BvS but look at him, he continues to do what he is at best like a BOSS! After all the negative buzz, Snyder easily stepped away from directing JLA and nobody can blame him! And the funny part is he directed probably the BEST Batman movie till today. Marvel is popular today but none of their movies will become a classic in the future cause none of them has a strong argument! They are all family friendly. They discovered that marketing aspect just because of distinguishing themselves from the serious tone of Nolan trilogy and it worked! But that doesn't mean Feige & Marvel are producing some serious movies! Let Affleck go, no problem! There'll be always better choices. Reeves, still not sure but we'll see if he is really come-up with something spectacular or not...

      You're giving Snyder more credit than he deserves. He's not as bad a director as his detractors claim, but I wouldn't go as far as to say his visuals have a strong vision behind them. Its very on the noes, surface level stuff. I also don't know why you felt the need to bring up Marvel. And lets be real, no CBM outside of maybe the TDK is going to look back on as some classic. Not just Marvel films, but DC films. Lets not pretend that the DCEU isn't fueled by cynical business to market and sell toys, it very much is. You can see that clearly with all the promotion gathered from their 3 films and the aggressive product placements.

There are many talented Directors Other than Matt. In my opinion, the Apes movies were crap. I won't be seeing an Ape movie in theatres ever, it's only worth seeing on Redbox. If I want to watch a character driven material, I would rather watch a TV show on Netflix or Hulu. His speculations about Armie Hammer being a young Batman, is worth sh*t. His speculations are all worth Shiite. Please don't invite this arrogant nut job back. Any comic book fan can speculate better than him.

       But there's nothing wrong with people wanting representation and labeling Black Lives Matter as an idiot cult group is simply idiotic, irresponsible and close minded. It shows how little you actually know about them as a group or a movement.

          I will defend the protestors of the Black Lives Matters movement. The ones involved with attack and kidnapping of that kid were NEVER involved with them and just used their name. No one that is legitimately involved with BLM has ever been violent and created hate speech. They've only claimed BLM in name to justify what they've done. It's not right to lump a few bad people in with the rest of everyone else that's actively been doing good.

    This was a fairly good discussion and who doesn´t love Mark BUT the 2+ hour runtime is unwarranted. Making a 10 scenario manifesto every time one of WB´s gears turns ain´t a good idea. Especially if a story is developing, as here. Just waiting half a week after Reeves walked away (as a form of negotiation it seems) could have saves all involved much time on now unnecessarily discussions.
    Patience IS a virtue, so don´t have a weekly "future of the DCEU" discussion, or even a weekly podcast.
    PS: A comic corner bit would help too.
