Michael Keaton's Batsuit from 'Batman Returns' sold at auction for over $41,000

Michael Keaton's Batsuit from Batman Returns is over 25 years old, but apparently it's still in really good condition.

The Batman Returns costume was just sold on the Nate D. Sanders auction website for $41,250. Bidding began at $33,000. The winner will receive the Batsuit mounted on a Michael Keaton dummy.

Michael Keaton's Batsuit from Tim Burton's hit superhero film ''Batman Returns'', which smashed box office records when it opened in 1992. Body of batsuit is in formed black rubber segments covered by the textured integral cape and cowl style mask, with long black leather gloves, boots and gold plastic belt and bat symbol. Original parts of the costume worn in the film are the cowl, cape and body; the gloves, belt, insignia and shoes are replicas for the display. Costume comes displayed dramatically on a mannequin with chiseled face of Keaton, mounted to a 2' square gray-white base with ''BATMAN RETURNS'' at front center. Batsuit measures 6'5'' tall and approximately 27'' at the widest point of the cape. Some glue present where cape and cowl meet, overall very good condition.

Watching Batman right now on HBO 😎 I will say if I had that kind of disposable income, I probably would have to buy something like this strictly for collection uses and not because I would definitely try and put that costume on and wear it everywhere.

Hey jealousy!!

When I was a kid, completely obsessed with this Batman (saw the first one in the theatre around 10 times), there was a contest on MTV that was giving away the Batmobile (minus an engine) and $10,000. All I had to do was call the specific number when they played a specific Prince video. The night they were to play that specific video, I glued myself to the seat beside the phone and waited with my eyes and ears at full alert. During a commercial break, I went to the bathroom and came back to my stupid brother talking to his stupid girlfriend on the phone (this was back when there were only landlines, and we only had one phone in the house). I was so mad, I yelled and yelled and yelled at him until I annoyed him enough to get the hell off! I was determined to win that car and use the cash to put an engine in it!!!

I didn't win the Batmobile. I also didn't read the fine print on the screen that said I had to be 18 or older to win. I was 11 at the time.

Priceless.
I was also around 10 or 11 when Returns came out, there was the 'movie cars expo' or something in town, Batmobile was there! i still have the photo of me sitting inside that beauty with the biggest smile i had in my life.
Back to the future Delorean was also there, also the 66 Batmobile, i got in too since that was my childhood dream car, but i remember thinking it was so lame next to the Burton one, ha!
Thanks for triggering fond memories, now ill go dig out the old photo album.

    I am an educated chap but my secret are a lock of wife and children. Having a family will eat you alive.
    I am also 100% going to buy a Life-Size figure the next time i move. Good ones are on clearance on Ebay all the time. The cinema in my last place of residence (Bonn) had one of Superman btw.
