E! News has released the first footage from Powerless, NBC's upcoming office comedy that's set in the DC Comics universe. A trailer leaked last summer, but was never officially released. Since then, the show has been given a soft reboot, and will now take place inside a division of Wayne Enterprises.

Vanessa Hudgens plays Emily Locke, the new director of Research and Development at Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that develops products to help keep defenseless bystanders a little safer during a superhero battle. She quickly discovers that her big ideas are a little bigger than those of her boss (Alan Tudyk) and her coworkers (Danny Pudi, Ron Funches, and Christina Kirk), so it's up to her to teach the team that you don't need superpowers to be a superhero.

Powerless premieres Thursday, February 2 at 8:30 pm on NBC.

    Looks terrible, not even branding it with Wayne Enterprises will save this show.

    They're assuming that DC fans like comedic romps. Not everyone does, especially those of us who actually like the DCEU. Hell, some DC fans don't even like anything DC regardless of what it is. This will unfortunately probably not work out.

    I'll give it a try though just on principle of waiting to judge it until after I see it.

      The quality on display here is (deliberately?) low but comedic romps worked great for DC before.

      The last Adam wast film was also only last year and you should look up what sort of toys DC sells.

            Does Mary Marvel (if that's who that was) count as a minor? (Truth be told, I miss the old days before they decided that the Marvel Family would keep the kid's brain.)

            The way the other Marvel Family members powers work change all the time, as some stay the same age. Inducing usually her. She was never an adult as a human and she + Marvel Jr. retain their personalities 1 to 1. The Black Adam (the one exactly hereafter) powered version was corrupted though.

      People can like different things. Campy or serious? give me both, variety's good.
      and it's not like they're making this for DC fans, they're making it for he biggest audience possible because $$$
      but this trailer was awful

    When they start making parody material for a certain genre that is the start of the bubble bursting. We have already seen deadpool, suicide squad, next is lego batman, then powerless. The market is watering down, superhero cliches are ripe for parody. The superhero genre is starting to decline.

    Sell stock in superhero movies, Buy all stock in Star Wars and Monster movies!

      I expect nothing from this one but i will tell you that the sit-com esque JLI form the 80s is favorite JLA book yet. Successfully stretching genres is what makes US comics great.

        I am not saying the bubble will burst any time soon but we are on the downward slope of the trend. Yes studios are more diversified and technology will allow more storytelling than ever.

        Also, how was the superhero movie genre right after the 60s?

          The genre already slowed down by reaching a ceiling but comics film aren´t westerns, which never went away either. The 90s didn´t lack comic adaptations for one, in all forms, and comic films are expensive and varied. Westerns weren´t and they dominated the media landscape to a degree only cop shows and sitcoms did. What will comics adaptations alive for another decade though is different. A version of this is it. Good manga adaptation would be another step forward.

      When I get invited to buy into RatPac, Dune or Atlas I'll take your advice into account. In the meantime, most of the studios are sufficiently diversified to not be hamstrung by a failure in one genre.

    Arrow S04 has a 100% on that site, so pack your bags Snyder. You are done here! This community told me time and time again that only that site gets DC content right and i am calling a certified. Mark my words but the unimpressive first trailer was also better.

    Looks a little too bright for Wayne Enterprises...but I'm not completely turned off to this idea. I'm also not a big fan of the lead, she seems a little too upbeat, guess we'll see.

    It kinda reminds me of Better Off Ted - which i was really skeptical of, but then ended up loving.
    This trailer is TRYING to be too funny though, if they can just let it happen naturally, there is potential.

    Seems fairly clear that this is no longer set in the DCEU though right?

      It was never set in the DCEU just the DCU. The only show confirmed to be in the DCEU is Krypton which takes place 200 years before Man of Steel with Clark's grandfather Seg-El.

    As much of a Batman fan i am, this series made MUCH more sense when it was set at the insurance agency... this just seems forced... ill check it out eventually but not expecting much... hopefully to be pleasantly suprised... but seriously doubt it. :/

    Why isn't this on the CW with most of other live action shows? I mean it would still fail because it looks awful, but at least DCTV characters guest appearing would get some attention? Just trying to steer the sinking ship in the right direction :)

    Dang it. I was excited about 'Powerless' because it was pitched as a mockumentary when I first heard about it, the likes of The Office or Parks and Recreation (which I absolutely adore). Now it just looks like a terrible comedy show with a few comic book easter eggs attached. I always try to give any show about five episodes to develop and see if I stay interested. If I don't get invested, I drop it and move on. We'll see by March 2nd.
