on Report: Warner Bros. cancels unannounced 'Suicide Squad' game, turns focus to new Batman project

WB Games Montreal has cancelled an unannounced Suicide Squad video game, sources tell Kotaku.

According to Kotaku, WB Games Montreal was working on the Suicide Squad game for the last two years. Unfortunately, it failed to impress the executives at Warner Bros., who killed the project earlier this month.

The studio will now focus another big project that they've been working on -- a Batman game starring Damian Wayne.

WB Games Montreal was founded in 2010, and is best known for their 2013 game Batman: Arkham Origins. Stay tuned to Batman News for more on this new Batman game starring Damian Wayne.

            can't agree more with you. I lol'd at you trading tattooed joker over damian which I have to agree. But some people like him, thats the worse part. and thats why he's being given so much spotlight. Can't stand he replaced tim as robin, as leader of the TT... and yes, the way they portray his abilities are even more exagerated than batman's himself and his personality is disgusting.
            Worst part is he'll be a main character in young justice season 3, you'll see

            Count me 2 ,same opinion about the movie and the upcoming game.The strange thing is that many people were disappointed with arkham origins (even though i loved the game) and they decided to make second game with damian wayne which is so strange as a decision for a big name game as Batman which would bring them so much money (if the scenario is good but its not for now )and fame seems like those people cant predict the failure

            I was disappointed with Orgins but mainly just parts of the story the over all game was good and I have to admit the boss fights were incredible. The main issues for me were the story and the weird decision to the 3 way multiplayer. I wish they would have just made a co-op story campaign instead. I don't hate Damien as a charater he's grown on me some but I'd rather have a Nightwing game, a Robin game with Tim as the main character, or Batgirl. Damian seems like a weird character to decide "lets make a game all about him" he's just not that likeable

            I'd hate him to if he wasn't punished for his dumber action by the people he's a jerk to, didn't have a reason for why his personality is the way it is, wasn't trying to be better, and didn't have genuinely good moments. At least later on.

            A Damian redemption story might be a good game as long as they don't focus too hard on his negative traits. And probably give him a partner. Despite the loner act Damian tends to do better when paired with someone. Easiest pick would probably be Nightwing. Maybe Nightwing AS the new Batman.

            I've suffered with the desire to commit suicide my whole life. Edgy it ain't more like curled in a ball crying my eyes out for hours waiting for the pain to go away. It's the total op of edgy so yeah really stupid to have Bruce Wayne be that way. More respect for the screwed up in the head I'm going to beat up the jerks trying to destroy Gotham than wanting to end his own existence.

        The radical part about that rumored game is that they'll use the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor.
        Why they chose Damian over Terry will never make sense to me. Maybe cause they didn't want big futuristic set pieces. But I hope Damian atleast has a good voice actor.
        Some body rugged that actually has a voice that you could see commands respect.
        I'd be down for Liam Mcintyre(Spartacus).

    It always sucks to hear stories like this. Like just the thought of working 2 years on a game and it just totally going down the drain. Thats gotta be rough.

    Arkham Origins sucks compared to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. Rocksteady has better developpers.

      I actually thought AO had a fantastic story and was overall actually pretty good. I think peoples main gripe with it was the gameplay which is really odd since its copy paste of the first 2 games. The VA were great and did justice to the characters. I wish we could have gotten a sequel to this or the SS spin off that got canned as it seems the series was going to move in that direction anyways based on the ending.

        My main problem was how empty the city felt and lackluster everything but the main story was. I also wished they experimented slightly more but I did enjoy the game.

          I think them tacking on an online competitive multiplayer took time away from making a stronger and more polished single-player experience. Out of the 5 Arkham games I've played (Asylum, City, Origins, Blackgate & Knight), I consider Origins to be the weakest, but saying that, it's not horrible by any means, like you said it's lackluster.

      Origins was just a total bug fest at launch.
      They had amazing detective vision puzzles, and solid boss fights. Just a less lively world, and the Riddler played a minor role in the game unlike all the Rocksteady games.

    They apparently worked on 2 games at once (Gamestar had a great breakdown months ago) and the more promising + safer one went though. So much for the SS buildup in Origins / Blackgate + the toon.
    For now. Just look @ the sequels the film got and the Injustice 2 cast addition of Deadshot. One day.

      Same would apply to any character to be honest, fans will just vote him to death out of spite,the ones who hate him will undoubtedly bend the rules to their advantage and there will be those who will kill him simply because they dislike Robin or those who will do it out of curiosity to see whether DC follows through on it. Besides he died and was actually brought back because he was popular. For a Batman site it seems to me that only one person here properly reads Batman comics. Damian is popular, was created by one of the biggest names in comics, has appeared in largely good stories and connects to the larger Batman mythology seamlessly.

      Read the comics. he got a really great arc and was redeemed as a character. he is not the @sshole he was in his beginnings anymore. He just has the minimum of that trait so that his personality is there, but it's a good character

    The Batman 666 universe needs to come back, despite everyone being ultra-dead. So many ideas are left unexplored! Set the engines to cautions hype, as i really liked Origins. Their Knight DLC could have been better though.

    I love Batman but as a DC fan I would rather see a Superman game, Aquaman game, Justice League game even a Suicide Squad game over a Batman game at the moment. Particularly a game featuring one of the most annoying characters in comics.

      It was handled by a 3rd party but that doesn't excuse the fact how poorly Arkham Knight was on PC until they fixed it not before having to take it down from the store. At least Arkham Origins was able to get fixed in a reasonable amount of time plus the reward of oh here's all the games that you probably have was a slap in the face to every PC user that bought Arkham Knight. You can even go back to Arkham City on PC and see how they never managed to get the DX 11 features to work properly people to this day including me are forced to turn them off if you want a stable framerate. Those 2 games basically told me don't bother buying Rocksteady Arkham games on PC because they will be broken

    Ha! A game rumored for 6 years that was heavily referenced in Origins and Blackgate gets cancelled. I know they helped develop Arkham Knight, but honestly how are WB Montreal justifying their paycheck at the moment.

    Why are the fans always complaining about bad guy charatcters in Batman. First it was Jason now we have Damian. I like the spoiled brat gimmick he is playing. If we only have the goodie good guys everything will be boring as hell. I enjoyed Red Hood and Jason in Arkham. He has a emotional backstory and I like the edgy approach he takes. So just give them the chance to deliver something great. I hope you can play with Batman and Nightwing etc not just with Damian. I would like Origins 2 and 3 more because I can't get enough from Batman + Joker will be alive. Joker is another villian that everyone complains about. If you like Superman and other boy scouts, go to superman news or watch Teletubbies .

    I'm a big supporter for DC and the squad, but if the SS game wasn't jiving, it's all good. They may need to wait for SS2 to drop and then go ahead with that version of a gaming title. As for D Wayne title: #goosebumps #imaginethepossibilities #imaginethecameos

    I'm so seriously NOT into Damian Wayne. I want HARLEY I know she was only intro'd in the 90's but if they want my gaming money they need to give me a game I can play as her. Not DLC not 5 minutes after Batsy is done doin his thing and spoiler alert Catwoman is forced to save him. Pouts and stamps my feet.
