on First look at Batman's upgraded armor in Justice League... Apokolips? (update: no)

My Twitter feed and email was bombarded with new images of Batman's armored cowl from Justice League tonight. It looks similar to what he wore in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it's redesigned slightly.

What's possibly even more interesting is the logo on the plaque that the cowl is sitting on. "Justice League: Apokolips" it reads. Apokolips is the planet in the DC Comics universe that is ruled by Darkseid, a villain rumored to be in the movie. Check out all of the new photos in the gallery below.

I honestly have no idea where these photos came from, so if you have an idea, please let me know. They look too good to me to be fan made, though I suppose that's possible.

Update: I still don't know where these images came from, but one Batman News source tells me that the cowl is fan made, and IGN's Jim Vejvoda says it doesn't look like the cowl he saw on his Justice League set visit last summer.

Update #2: A Batman News reader said in the comments section below that this is actually an art project from his school. Students had to redesign popular character helmets. He said he'll try to get more pictures of it today.

Update #3: Another Batman News reader echoed the statements about this being a student project at the Art Center College of Design. This definitely isn't from Justice League, but this kid is talented enough to work on a movie one day if he or she wants to!

    So that means Batman will have 3 suits in the film?? :O & No issue with the title - feels good :D Can't wait for official announcements and trailer xD

    I'm not buying that this is real. If nobody knows where they came from, that's not a good sign. Also, I don't remember any of the set visits reports mentioning an upgraded armored suit, just the tactical one.

      the only scene i can see this suit appearing is the nightmare scene. It will be just one Scene and apparently it will also be in Justice League

      They mentioned that the power suit is back and the set visit was about 6 hours long. This doesn´t prove anything but still. I guided tour that was all about PR won´t give you that much insight.

    That looks like the exact same background from the gold storm trooper helmet pictures that someone tried to pass off as real when The Force Awakens was being made.

    I don't know, something smells fishy.

    This has to be fan made. There's no way they should/will start working on JL:Apokolips this soon, it must be the sequel to JL movie, or perhaps the last JL movie in the universe. It looks awesome, though.

      The cancellation of "The Legend of Wonder Woman" by Renae de Liz from DC. It was soo good, but DC basically cancelled it over politics because the inker/colorist spoke about how "The Odyssey of Wonder Woman" was a concept the author of LOWW had pitched years ago. I understand that it's not best to call out your employer over something like that but I think the situation could've been handled better, instead of hurting the fans that have been eagerly awaiting it's return.

        It's a stand alone series, thats not canon to the ongoing stories, It's a retelling of Wonder Womans origins, an all ages comics that takes place in the 1940s. It's just really great and sweet and kind of reminded me of why I liked WW in the first place.

        WW's rebirth stuff has been great too, I really enjoy the the even issues with her origins. I just like that LOWW was also coming from a different place and is a great intro to people who may not have ever picked up a WW comic before.

    it could still be a cowl for the nightmare scene (There will be another one in Justice league) BUT Batman was already killed by supes so its probably just a fan thing.

    I´ve you really break down the background of this image, you see there are some art pictures non dc related. One has a nightmare before christmas vibe with a shadowy black figure and the other one seems to be looking very medieval (like the hobbit scene where they all sit at the table). It doesnt seem like smth that would hang at WB so its probably just a fan thing

    Reddit speculated that the cowl could be another Iron Studios concept. Sounds like a solid guess to me.
    This is too professional to be 3D printed and i got no source either.
    PS: I saw you in the reddit comment Chris. JLA Batman is not meant to be grounded. Neither is the team itself. That´s why JLA is so hard to write.

          I don't mind the dictonomy between semi real Batman for solo movies and him fighting new gods in the team movies. Its like that in the comics as well and never bothered me. To me the idea that Batman works well in both makes him only a more interesting character.

    Strange, the design suggest to be a discarded BvS armoured design, and they put it next to a JL 'Apokolips' tag? which sounds cool, but i would prefer simply Justice League.
    As far a s we know, JL had two different batsuits already, another one?.

    Doesn't make much sense. It'd make more sense for him to be faster and more agile and defeat what he can through gadgets and weapons (this is an actual scenario where Batman using weapons makes some fucking sense, given those are aliens/mindless drones, not people), instead of a suit that makes him more resistent to injury and attacks (though it definitely shouldn't, in a realistic sense, but fuck that for now), but slow as fuck, and not much stronger)...
    We've already seen the mechanized suit. Let the tactical one shine, because that's what Batman should be in the case of this film. For brute strength they have Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman, and Superman when he inevitably shows up to save the day.

      Agree, and that is why i believe this is a fake, or fan art, or a BvS design, or whatever, we saw that, i want to see fast, ninja Batman all over the place (animated style), besides machine-gunning parademos.

    Looks real to me and has the same change in design aesthetic from the old mech suit to this, as with the change between the regular Batsuits between BvS and JL. I am also super happy Snyder gives us 3 distinct looks again, just like in BvS (normal, knightmare and mechsuit). Can't wait!
    Just watched BvS for probably the 10th time or so and I love that film more and more. :)

    Bravo to the fan artist who made this.
    However, I think they'd want to reinvent the armor if they used it again in Justice League and this seems too close to the original BvS helmet. Gotta sell those toys!
