on Henry Cavill loves being Superman, but wants to play a Star Wars villain too

With Rogue One just around the corner, it seems like everyone is in a Star Wars mood! Earlier this week Justice League director Zack Snyder shared a Batman v Superman/Star Wars mash-up trailer, and now Henry Cavill is getting in on the action.

The Superman actor posted a selfie on social media today in scuba diving gear and captioned it with "When you love being Superman but you secretly want to be a bad guy in Star Wars too!"

That scuba gear is pretty menacing looking! Would you like to see Cavill play a Star Wars villain one day? Let me know in the comments below.

He loves being an "expresionless" Superman...

Have you seen the movies? Because I swear I have seen him making quite different facial expressions on them

It's just a way of saying that as Superman, his acting range is almost non-existent. Do not take everything so literally.

        1. jrvc Avatar
          jrvc

Err... What are you saying about literally? You talked about his Superman and I replied about his Superman. What's more is in there?

Anyway, I stand by my comment and I seen him with quite a range in those movies

          1. rodo Avatar

I said "expresionless Superman" and you said "I have seen him making quite different facial expressions".

          2. jrvc Avatar

I was referring to Cavill AS Superman

Ahem... so your comment was literal...

          5. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

Ammm... again, I said "expressionless Superman", and the name of the post is HENRY CAVIL LOVES BEING SUPERMAN BLABLA, so, I was talking just about his Superman and never did a metion of another role of him or the Superman of another actor.

When I used the word "expresionless" you said that you saw him using different facial expressions, I presumed that you took it litteraly.

          6. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

ok, we are missinterpreting each other.

No no, I was talking about his role as Superman, and how he showed more range than people give him credit for. I don't see him as "expressionless", I think he has conveyed Superman's emotions quite well in the movies

          7. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

And I'm talking about him as Superman... and the lack of acting range AS SUPERMAN. We are not misunderstanding anything, we're just not agree.

          8. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

then why the heck did you say I was bringing other Cavill's roles? It seems to me that you didn't properly read what I said.

Anyway, watch again the movies and see how Cavill can convey a quite good range of emotions. Or are you one of those that are hell-bent on saying that he doesn't even smile?

          9. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

OMFG When the heck I said that you did it? I'm readding my comments and I never did it. Then you're kind of right, this is becoming more and more misrepresented.

          10. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

"I was talking just about his Superman and never did a metion of another role of him or the Superman of another actor."

This is what you said, when I was speaking only about his Superman. I don't how you got that I was speaking about other roles, so yeah, you have missinterpreted.

But again, watch the movies, and pay attention instead of looking for things to complain about. Look how he can portray different emotions in MoS and BvS

          11. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

Da heck.. again... When I said that? You're right, someone misunderstood something and is not me, you misinterpreted that and took it in that way. Nowhere in those lines says that you said it. Come on dude, that was a clarification, to make a point that I wasn't talking about anything else that wasn't the Cavil's Sups.

"pay attention instead of looking for things to complain about" lol, I'm complaining precisely because I put attention.

I've seen MoS and BvS twice or thrice and I still thinking the same... I liked the first movie but definitly can't say the same about the second... and talking again about Cavil, the guy is not a bad actor and yes, he made some kind of furic scream when he killed Zod in MoS and in BvS he had a couple of moments but most of the time he had a poker face.

          12. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

"that was a clarification, to make a point that I wasn't talking about anything else that wasn't the Cavil's Sups"

Sigh... so your first comment, as I said, was literal, so I literally asnwered that and then all the discussion began. So yeah, you missinterpreted that. And yeah, if you were to clarify, then you thought I was speaking about something else apart from Superman.

Well, I don't see him with poker face all the time. I thing is just that you didn't like it and that's it, so we agree to disagree

            cheers

          13. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

hahahaha really? Again with the same?
I already tell you what I mean with expressionless but you refuse to understand... same with the missinterpretation thing, I repeat, i didn't, i'm sure of it, you're the one that distorted everything. But well, if this works or make you feel better, I never tried to imply that.
And with the last lines, I agree with the last words.

          14. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

Then I think you don't understand the word literal, because I don't know what the heck you used in the first place

          15. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

Probably don't--- or you just don't remember why I used, this it's the second time I'm gona say the same thing:
I used the word "expressionless" and then you said (more or less) "I saw him doing different facial expressions". That's why.

          16. jrvc Avatar
            jrvcreplying to rodo

more or less? Can't you scroll to see what I have written before? You used that word, I used expressions. And? He can convey a different range of emotions, so it doesn't matter the word you use

          17. rodo Avatar
            rodoreplying to jrvc

hahaha come on dude, now with "more or less"? More or less words but that's what you said. That's what I wanted to say with "more or less"... ok? Cool.
With each answer you become more hostile but yes, I can scroll but why do that If I can put an accurate aproximation to what you said whitout use copy/paste? Sometimes is just not required.
With the rest, I already explained to you but you don't want to understand so think whatever you want.

On a somewhat related note, with the GoG trailer and now Spiderman trailer being released, and all that Tweeter trolling going on, I have no doubt that in a few days, we'll see something new for JL. Maybe even a trailer.

      I would retitle that:
Guardians of the Galaxy 2: A GOOD movie
Spider-Man Homecoming: Yet another good movie
      Justice League: ???
But yeah. Hail Snyder, our lord and saviour!

I'd love to see him in more movies. British actors are usually pretty great when they make it in Hollywood, but Henry's been wasted in almost every movie he's been in... I'd really like to see him in a more dramatic role, to see if he has the range!

I 100% can´t see him as Thrawn. He was reintroduced on Rebels right now and is well used.

I have read every book Thrawn was in. How do any of Cavill´s defining traits as an actor (i saw him in non DC things too) line up with Thrawn? Spill your beans. His physicality would especially make unusable by default.
I could see him as Dash Rendar for example.

are you just deliberately contesting everything i post today? he's tall. he has nice cheekbones. i like him as an actor. i like him for thrawn. period.

            residentgrigoreplying to boots

I like his acting too, but you would need some line Mortensen or Fassbender. Or most importantly someone completely unknown / a theater actor . Throwing random Hollywood stars into Star Wars backfired before... hard.
Viggo Mortensen is voicing him on Rebels and keeping him in life action would work too, as his brother is already used up.

Hell yes I'd love for him to be a villain! And I'm all for dressing him up in some villainous mask/garb so as to keep his two day jobs separate. He's a big dude, and would add some major intimidation points to the New Republic. Maybe a bounty hunter??

All it takes is one bad day........
